Profile
Thaal Sinestro is a former archeologist for his native planet Korugar. When he received a Green Lantern ring, Sector 1417 became a bastion of peace by his hand. Deemed "The Greatest Green Lantern" at the time, Thaal is effective. Unfortunately, all good things must end and even the "Greatest Lantern" can leave a blood trail. Sinestro murdered several lanterns and never came to the aid of Abin Sur in his last moments. Abin was getting too close. Lantern Rookie Hal Jordan discovered why Sector 1417 was so peaceful. Sinestro ruled it with an iron fist. This led to Hal discovering about the murders. Sinestro is exiled from the Lanterns and his home world to Qward. Unfortunately, things do not stay exiled for long. Sinestro is back with a new ring, a yellow one. One that works on Fear rather than the "crutch" of Willpower.

Description
Description:
A black body suit covers the majority of the man. Sunflower yellow boots coming down to a "V" shape adorns the feet. On the wrists, and forearms, are a series of metallic bands also in the same sunflower yellow.
Starting at the shoulder there's a sharp line that goes up toward the start of the pectoral muscle then back down. It's a five triangles with the peek running down part of his abdomen. Everything in this pattern, going upward is the same shade of yellow. Remnants of a previously worn costume. On the center of his chest a black circle. Within it a white lantern-like outline that extends a bit more on the bottom. It's the symbol of Fear. The symbol of the Sinestro Corps.

The hands are completely exposed and show the same burgandy colored skin. Often they're hold behind his back. He moves like a military leader, just observing you. It's at this time someone may notice the pointed ears. Again, his eyes will probably dismiss you.
History
History:
Best friend to fellow lantern, Abin Sur. The two are brothers in arms and have many tales together. A duo looked up to by many lanterns of that time. Amon even introduced Thaal to his sister Arin. The pair even married. So, Thaal and Abin are literal brothers, not just in arms.
Unfortunately, every good partnership ends. It's just a question of how amicable or how bloody it ends. In certain lights, this one ended bloody.
Abin investigates a series of murders. Each victim, a green lantern. It takes some time, but the trail leads Amon back to Sinestro. Sadly, Abin Sur never made the collar. Something else sealed his fate. Sinestro could have helped Abin, but he ignored a distress call from his friend. Part of him really wanted to. He didn't want his friend to die. It would have been too risky. There's a good chance Sinestro could have saved Abin's life. It wasn't easy to let him die, but it was necessary in Sinestro's mind.
Eventually Abin's successor showed up. An earthling by the name of Hal Jordan. Sinestro takes Hal under his wing. Unfortunately for Sinestro, Amon has his revenge. His successor begins to suspect something due to Korugar. People are genuinely afraid. They're afraid of the Green Lanterns. They see them as cruel police force. It's clear to Hal what happened. Sinestro is a tyrant and working within the rules of the ring, Sinestro is now the ruler of the planet.
This slippery slope takes Hal down the same path as Amon. The only difference between the two is that Hal survives. Sinestro is arrested, becomes a black spot in Lantern history. Both the lanterns, and Korugar, exiled Sinestro. Being exiled to Qward, Sinestro just smiles. He's not happy about the situation, but it's a confirmation. Hal doesn't know all of Sinestro's plans, just like Abin. They never looked into -why- Sinestro killed those lanterns.
Thanks to an unlikely set of allies, Sinestro learned there is an emotional spectrum of energy. And that it could be weaponized like the Guardian's weaponized Willpower. Through the rings of the dead lanterns, they helped Sinestro forge a new ring with this fear energy. The knowledge of creating this ring, they can use to make others without the murder.
Thankfully, everything happened on Qward thanks to the Weaponers on the planet. So, Sinestro didn't stay in exile long. Using a yellow ring to create Fear in the Galaxy with a new reputation following him.
And maybe enough time has passed to create his own Corps.
Personality
Personality:
Thaal does feel moments of regret along his journey. These give him moments of relatability, or can show him in a new light. He regrets murdering Abin Sur. He regrets not seeing Soranik Sinestro, his daughter, enough (think like the workaholiac parent that regrets many parenting decisions in hindsight). Thaal may save a person because in a grander scale the world would be better with them in it than not. These moments are under his personal lense rather than an objective world view. So, he may not save Superman, but Sinestro may save Batman because "He would make a good corps member."
Political games he will rail against, in the case of the Lantern rules. However, if he is able to become part of Korugaran governing council, he may. It all depends on the situation and the end means. So, some may be quick to label him Chaotic Evil or Lawful Evil, when he's actually Neutral Evil (although, not evil in his mind).
Abilities
Instill Fear:
Fear is the life blood of the ring. It can be manipulated by it. Delving into a person's mind, it can bare their worst fears before their eyes. Once the fear is exposed, Sinestro can create constructs based on these fears and even amplify that fear. With his practice to the ring, mind's like Bruce Wayne and Jean Grey, could be broken despite their training. This power as the ability to dip into true horror creating a delicious fear that empowers Sinestro's ring.
Kryptonite Charging:
Similar to how the light of a Green Power Ring can be used to create artificial Kryptonite energy to harm a Kryptonian, the energy from a Yellow Power Ring can charge the powers of a Kryptonian or Daxamite.
Master of Fear:
Sinestro knows how to overcome fear. He knows how to harness fear. He knows how to weaponize it and use it against others. This is the whole foundation to his corps. He -knows- fear. It's something he mastered.
Power Battery:
The Power Batteries to the Sinestro Corps can go into a personal pocket dimension created by the ring. The dimension is not destroyed if the Ring needs to be recharged. The batteries can charge multiple rings and are somewhat universal. Each member has their own battery, but the ring is not exclusively bound to use its battery.
Power Ring:
Sinestro is a Master of Fear, with great willpower. This is why his abilities with a yellow ring are second to known. The limits are his imagination. Sometimes a boxing glove will suffice. Other times it will be a sea of daggers plunging into your flesh or the visage of Darkseid.
Energy Manipulation - Sinestros' constructs are strong and can withstand blows from the likes of Superman, Sentry, and other top strength characters before bending, cracking and eventually breaking. Breaking a construct can cause a lot of mental strain (while minimized due to Sinestro's will). Sinestro's constructs exist as long as he consentrates on them. They do pack a punch when used to cause damage. They're as strong as Captain Marvel, maybe more, and can ring a Kryptonian's bell.
Flight - While n a planet, a Sinestro Corp member cannot move at speeds that will damage the atmosphere. This approximates to flying as fast as Superman, and similar, unless they try to turn back time. In space, the Sinestro Corps can travel past the speed of light, travel through wormholes, and can travel great intergalactic distances in short periods. There's less things to destroy in the vast blackness of space.
Emergency Backup - If Sinestro is unable to properly charge his battery, he can dip into a reserve. It's an Emergency 24 hour supply, more or less. The ring will require a charge after this.
Force Fields - This force field can withstand both physical and energy attacks, plus the ring also protects it's wearer from other effects, such as a vacuum, high speeds in an atmosphere, and radiation. It's strength can withstand blows from Superman for brief intervals.
Phasing - Some members of the Sinestro Corps can phase through materials on a molecular level, similar to speedsters.
Translation Matrix - Qwards have built a translation Matrix for the Fear Rings. This can translate most languages.
Information Database - a MASSIVE amount of information has been copied from the Green Lantern rings. However, upon Sinestro's exile the information changes. The information is in the Power Battery on Qward. This information gets additions from other Sinestro Corps members. This allows information to be accessible by other members at incredible speed. Since the rings pickup on fears of other people, there is a fear database. A list of high-value threats and their fears (this may be out of date if major changes arise for the character via personal growth, life developments, etc.).
Invisibility - Sinestro can turn himself, and a small group of others, invisible.
Energy Twin - Sinestro can send off an Energy Twin to gather information, and more. This can only be seen by Qwards, certain Qward tech and Sinesto Corps members.
Communication - Similar to a sending stone, Sinestro Corps members can communicate with each other. They do need to be within line of sight with each other.
Emergency Signal - Sinestro Corps members can send emergency beacons to each other. It can go up to the next galactic sector.
Remote Control - The Ring gains an attunement with their wearer. When separated, the owner can summon the ring over to the wearer.
Will Corruption:
The yellow light of fear can corrupt the aura of a Green Lantern, drainign the ring's power. This is dependent upon the Latern's ability to "understand," "accept", and "control" their fears. Sinestro is going to be a hard one to beat in this category being the first, and most versed, user of the yellow ring.
Willpower:
Skills
Alien Archoelogy:
Sinestro knows a lot about the history of many planets. Before the ring came into his life, Sinestro was an archeologist. This interest has never died. Granted, the pursuit is more for how to conquer a species now. It's still something he studies and excels in.
Combat:
Combat Styles on different planets differ from Earth-born combat styles. These skills are further varied thanks to additional knowledge from people like Kilowag, a new God, a serial killer, etc. Sinestro knows various strikes, locks, holds and how to use blades.
Conditioning:
Thaal has been physically conditioned thanks to years as a GLC. While some consider the GLC to be space cops, the physical training is more on par with FBI/CIA or even a military organization. Needing to enduring space, all sorts of environments, places and even times without the ring. It requies a keen physical demand. And so, Thaal has spent years in atheletic shape with an active soldier.
Intergalactic Customs:
Between his hobby, time as a GLC, general survival, Thaal has a knowledge of different planetary customs. This allows him to better blend on different worlds. To allow him some ability to blend in. This allows him to pass undeteted sometimes.
Intergalactic Knowledge:
Similar to Intergalactic Customs, Thaal has a knowledge of different planets. He understands the nature of the world, semi-current standings (some of his knowledge may not be up to date). He also has a general idea of history on a galactic scale (e.g. Krypton blew up approximately so many years ago, Earth is in its infancy when it comes to a presence in space, the Martian races destroyed each other, etc.).
Interrogations:
Being a Lantern taught Sinestro how to fight off an interrogation. How not to betray a fellow ring bearer. Being a criminal taught him how to perfect breaking a victim by taking the previous knowledge and applying it in new ways. Add in time to perfect this skill, he knows how to do an interrogation. Both sides of it.
Leadership:
Resources
Injustice League:
Whenever there is a Justice League, there will always be an Injustice League. The rosters may change. The leaders may change. One thing that doesn't, a need for someone to handle the Green Lantern. And so very often, this group comes looking for one particular person. Sinestro can count on this team, even if the people change.
Qward:
Banished onto Qward, Sinestro met the weaponizers of they planet. They helped design the yellow lantern ring. As time went on they developed more, and the central power battery, for the Sinestro Corps. It's a home base, similar to OA. One of the few places that will take Sinestro in without hesitation. And the weaponizers of the planet do provide him with technology.
Sinestro Corps:
Weaknesses
He Cares?:
There are a few things Sinestro does care about. These can be used against him sometimes. One, is his daughter. Yes, the relationship is very strained. He understands her view of him (as wrong as it may be in his eyes). Yet she could be used against him. She would be spared in a battle, if Sinestro corps took no prisoners. She would be the one lantern not tortured. Likewise, people can use her against him for leverage.
Similar leverage can be done for power. When it comes to the Sinestro Corps, he will cling to that power. This can put him at odds with people. The man can make decisions that would benefit him retaining power than not.
Hope Influence:
The transmission and power of Yellow Power Rings can be greatly disrupted by the presence of a Blue Power Ring.
Power Ring Flaws:
What is Fear without Hope? In this case, the emotional spectrum energy of Hope can greatly disrupt the ring. Also, like the other rings on the emotional spectrum does require a power battery to charge it.
Wanted:
The Green Lantern Corps consider him to be a criminal. A traitor among their rank and file. Whose murders, without question, undo any recognition earned while being a member of the GLC.
Korugar carries a similar hatred. Some regard him as a revolutionary or visionary. Most see Sinestro as a type of tyrant. The planet, at large, sees him as a blemish to their entire world. Someone so vile, he gives the species a bad name. A return would be coldly recieved at best.
Other places in the universe can regard him with a similar hostility as these groups.
