Lorna has been an on again off again a member of the X-Men. Often a reserve member, she balances between the two competing ideals of her father, Magneto and Xavier's school of learning. She has tried to find her peace by following her own path as Polaris, The Mistress of Magnetism, doing what she believes is right, no matter what.

A tall, statuesque woman at about 5'7, Lorna stands even taller typically in a pair of heels, boots, or otherwise, if she's not already floating upon magnetic currents. Her long green hair tumbles around her shoulders in waves or curls, most often swept by her powers back and away from her features. Typically, she wears a mixture of expensive blazers and slacks, or on the opposite direction a pair of ripped up jeans and a t-shirt.. depending entirely on her mood.

When she is actively going into conflict, or aware that she might face trouble, a quick manipulation of metal and fibers allow her to create her unique green armored look. All of which is complete with a matching headpiece that sometimes shadows her features, but more or less helps to keep her hair out of her face.

History

Lorna was born to Suzanna Dane through an affair with Magneto. When Lorna was still extremely small, Suzanna's husband took his wife up into a plane to confront her about her affair. In the ensuing argument, Lorna awoke and distressed to hear who she thought to be her parents fighting, her powers manifested. She destroyed the plane and both Arnold and Suzanna perished.

Magneto, having felt the disturbance in the magnetic fields, arrived on the scene and had her memories and powers sealed away. She was then raised by her Aunt and Uncle, Arnold's sister, and believed for most of her life that she was their daughter.

For her safety, she was forced to dye her hair, to pass as human and nothing more. However, this all meant little when her powers returned and the X-Men became involved in her life. She joined them and finished out her high school years at the Xavier Institute and learn to control her powers.

It became apparent while she fought as a member of the X-Men that her powers were all too similar to a certain Master of Magnetism, and eventually, the truth was discovered as to who her birth-father actually was. She with the truth of her parentage revealed to her, she sought answers in Genosha with the man himself. There she continued her training and was openly acknowledged as Magneto's daughter.

She has since struggled to find who she is--to be her father's daughter, or Polaris, the member of the X-Men.

Personality

Lorna is a woman of extremes. Extreme highs and lows, just as the magnetic fields move, so do her moods. There are days, sometimes weeks at a time, when she will obsess over details and plan and create anything and everything that comes to mind in sleepless fits of energy. This is often followed by low days, when she can't bring herself to do more than meditate or lose herself away in reading various books. She is quick to temper, and even quicker to forgive, but her trust is hard to earn and is easier to lose.

Lorna is most of all proud of who she is and wouldn't give up her powers or being a mutant for anything. She is after all, her father's daughter.

ELECTROMAGNETIC SIGHT
By concentrating, Polaris can perceive the world around herself solely as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. She can perceive the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings as well.

EM SPECTRUM MANIPULATION
Polaris has the ability to manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum and some energy like electricity, electromagnetic and magnetic. Her connection with the electromagnetic field allows her manipulation over energy such as electric, gamma, x-rays, ultraviolet, visible rays, lasers, and more.

ENERGY ABSORPTION
Polaris is capable of absorbing some forms of energy (such as Storm's lightning blast, Cyclop's eye beam, and Havok's energy beam) through her magnetic force fields to temporarily boost her own strength.

GEOMAGNETIC LINK
Polaris is tied very closely to Earth's EM field. As it is affected, so is she. She knows instinctively all that happens to it, and with this link, is granted an odd sort of immortality. Earth lends her strength by its simple existence. She draws on this strength unconsciously.

MAGNETIC FLIGHT
Polaris can suspend herself in flight by riding the Earth's magnetic field.

MAGNETIC FORCE FIELDS
Polaris can protect herself from physical harm, can stretch her fields to protect a large group, and can suspend persons or objects in the air.

MAGNETIC PULSE
Polaris can focus her magnetic energy into powerful concussive blasts. She can also overload or short-circuit electrical systems.

METAL-MATTER MANIPULATION
Polaris has a great ability to be able to levitate objects metallic and nonmetallic, with her electromagnetic field she can levitate objects and destroy them in the air, or through a small manipulation of gravity, she can also cause non-metallic objects to levitate in the air and manipulate it through electromagnetic energy.

ORGANIC IRON MANIPULATION

Polaris' control over her powers allows her to manipulate the natural iron within the blood of living organisms.

COMBAT TRAINED
Lorna has been trained not only by the X-men, but also by her father and his various allies in Genosha over the years. She is quite skilled in combat, both with her powers and without.

DRIVING
Polaris is a skilled driver, her abilities helping her to push vehicles to their very limits.

MASTER'S

After several years of hard work and study, Lorna acquired a Master's Degree in Geo-physics, along with supplemental grad classes toward a hopeful PhD.

GENOSHA
If Magneto is Genosha's King, then in most respect, Polaris must be its Princess. Whether she wants the title or not, plenty have taken to calling her such. Over the years she's developed strong ties to Genosha and knows the island nation well. If she wanted for anything there, she could likely get it. This also lends her a certain gravitas in the political stage. After all, not everyone has a tropical island as a fall back plan.

X-MEN

Lorna is often an on again off again member of the X-Men. A reserve member these days, she knows that if it came down to it, the X-Men would have her back. They're her family, her home, and her safety net in times of trouble. She knows she can call on their resources if needed, from a place to crash, or back up going into a dangerous situation.

BIPOLAR
Unfortunately, along with inheriting her father's powers, Polaris also inherited his mental instability. As the magnetic fields change and shift, so do Lorna's moods. She is bipolar and modern, human, medicine doesn't seem to help. This can mean she swings from manic highs to depressive lows, which can wreak havoc with her control over her powers and her actions.

DEVIL'S DAUGHTER
For better or for worse, Polaris is Magneto's daughter and the world knows it. Which means she has a target on her back, either from those that love Magneto and are his allies, seeking to be around her presence or curry favor.. Or that they despise her father, like most of the world. There are plenty of people out there that would seek to use her against her father for one reason or another. More over, it means that her father's shadow looms large over her interactions with would be friends or allies. After all, how much like her father is she?

MENTAL DEFENSE
Due to the manipulation of her powers when she was young, and the mental blocks put there, her mind is significantly more vulnerable to mental attacks. Mystical, telepathic, or psionic, Lorna's mental shields are a serious weakness for her.

OBVIOUSLY MUTANT

With distinctive green hair and with the world knowing who she is, Lorna is marked for who and what she is. While she can dye her hair, it's only ever temporary and dye washes out with a single shampoo.
