Kurt Wagner was once the Amazing Nightcrawler in the Munich Circus. Later in life, he was recruited by Professor Xavier and became a member of the X-Men.

Dark red and black, Nightcrawler's is designed to engender the looks of film swashbucklers of old film while still allowing free movement for the acrobat. Woven with what look like rip-stop and cut-proof materials mixed with ballistic fiber, its clearly meant for protection as well as to keep him able to move as he needs. Pulled tight to him like an acrobats costume, showing off every round of muscle and sinew in his form. Slightly thicker leather and kevlar armor has been placed atop like a cowled mantle. With a thin, flexible, gorget protecting throat and neck before the cowl mantles over his upper torso, rounding over his shoulders with paneling that forms an X over his chest and extends down to protect his lower stomach, with a black circle, bearing the trademark X symbol emblazoned upon it. His forearms are protected with plated gauntlets that end in forked points just below the elbow, with his hands in pristine white gloves. From the hips down the black body suit stretches until reaching, red, plated greaves cover from knee to ankle leaving his elongated, two toed feet, in white stocking like material that allows him to flex them as normal. From the lower back of his suit springs his tail, long and seeming to move with a mind of his own, the appendage appears long enough to reach past his head if it stood still, and ends in a pointed devil's spade.

History

When Kurt was born, his mother lost control of her powers and that, coupled with Kurt's appearance, outed her and brought down a mob, complete with torches and pitchforks. In the ensuing escape, Mystique sought to save herself, and threw Kurt down a cliff and into the river. There are those that say that his mother did it blindly, and others say that Azazel knew Kurt would be thrown and caught him only to give him to his then lover, Margali Szardos.
Kurt did not perish, but survived, and he was found by a traveling circus's fortuneteller Margali Szardos. Kurt was raised with her two biological children, forming positive relationships with them as a family. At the same time, he was trained as an acrobat and began performing in the circus as a young teenager, using his natural agility to the benefit of the circus. As he aged into adulthood, and started drawing smaller and smaller crowds, the owner of the circus, Herr Getmann planned to sell Kurt. With the help of his foster mother and Armen Freilich, he escaped. Unfortunately, not before accidentally setting the place abaze by knocking over a torch. As he was chased into the forest, one of Getmann's goons was about to shoot Kurt in the face when he teleported for the first time, escaping the second angry mob of his short life.
Two days later, he found himself entering a small church under the care of, ironically, Father Wagner. He was welcomed and fed and cared for. In exchange, Kurt did manual labor for the church and was happy for a time. One evening Freilich burst into the church, being chased by Getmann's squad of bruisers. The Father attempted to settle things peacefully, but the goons instead lit the church on fire. Kurt teleported Armen to a nearby farm before he returned to deliver a sound thrashing to the Getmann himself. The Father implored Kurt to stay his hand, inadvertantly offering up the opportunity the men needed to try and kill Kurt.
It was at that time, finally, that Xavier showed up and altered the men's memories to believe Kurt dead.
A few years later, the circus was purchased and Kurt was to be placed in the freak show of the new, American owned show. He left in disgust, returning to Germany. He found his foster brother had murdered some children. He tracked Stephan down and fought with him, accidentally breaking his neck and inciting mob number three. Xavier showed again, psionically paralyzed the crowd and recruited Kurt into the X-Men, where he would receive an education at the illustrious Xavier Institute.
Since then, Kurt has lived and worked at the Mansion, at the School, and most importantly, as an X-Men as a living, breathing embodiment of their 'live' code. He not only protects mutants from humans, but also protects humans from mutants that might seek to harm them.

He has a love of adventure and can be a bit of an adrenaline junkie. With his powers and physiology, such gallantry comes naturally and easily. A lover of the spontaneous and exciting, he's a big fan of swashbuckling fiction and fancies himself to be such a man as well. The ability to wield three swords at once doesn't hurt.
Kurt also has a 'great' sense of humor. He enjoys joking and pulling harmless pranks. Especially on his closest friends and allies. He has been known to have prank challenges at the school; sometimes he wins, sometimes he loses... but it's always in good fun. (He was also the creator of 'Mutant ball'... no holds barred, all out game of ball where all mutant powers are allowed.)
Kurt is a devout Catholic. If he is not at the mansion, he is in the Parish church. He celebrates Mass at least twice a week, and is a regular in confession. There was a time when he'd considered studying for the cloth, but he decided against it. If any jewelry can be found on him, it is a small gold crucifix that hangs about his neck.
Despite his appearance, Kurt is quite charming and plays the gallant well. He is a notorious flirt and romantic, and often knows just the right things to say to elicit a blush or a fluttering of lashes. Also, he rarely swears. If 'Verdammt'comes out of his mouth, things have gone very badly.

Camouflage:
He has limited abilities to blend into shadows, both as a result of his dark fur and his connection to the light-bending attributes of the Brimstone Dimension
Flexible Bone Structure:
Nightcrawler's bone structure allows him great flexibility. He can remain in a crouched position for a long time and perform contortionist type feats without causing any damage to his spine.
Night Vision:
Kurt's glowing eyes grant him exceptional night vision without hampering his ability to see in the light.
Prehensile Tail:
His tail is strong enough to not only support his own weight but also lift an adult man completely off the ground. It is deft enough to fight with a sword or other melee weapon.
Spatial Awareness:
Kurt has a very limited subconscious extrasensory ability that prevents him from teleporting himself so that any part of his body would materialize below the surface of the local ground. Because this ability is so limited, however, Nightcrawler will not teleport into any place that he cannot see or has not seen in the past.
Superhuman Agility:
Kurt's physiology gives him more agility than any human limits would allow.
Superhuman Reflexes:
Kurt's reaction time is beyond baseline human limits.
Teleportation:
Kurt has the ability to teleport himself, the clothes he is wearing, and within limits a certain amount of additional mass which is in contact with him. He teleports by displacing himself into the Brimstone Dimension, traveling through it, and then returning to his own dimension at a certain distance from his point of departure. He leaves behind smoke with a stench reminiscent of burning brimstone which is a small portion of the atmosphere escaping. There's also the muffled sound of air imploding to fill where he was, the telltale BAMF. He consciously determines his point of return. It is taxing on himself, but moreso to whoever he takes with him. This makes it an effective combat tactic to grab an opponent and teleport them with him a few times, wearing them out (OOC Consent required of course). The longer the distance, the more effort it takes and the more exhausting it is for him. His range is two miles although when teleporting from north-to-south he can push up to three miles. When taking someone with him, the distance is either reduced or he is exhausted more quickly.

Acrobatics:
Kurt is a very mobile individual. With his training as a circus acrobat couples with his mutant abilities and power, he can bounce across a battlefield in seconds and back again.
Education:
Despite not having a true formal education, Kurt is quite knowledgable. From religious texts and philosophy, to the humanities, Kurt has largely educated himself over the years. In his downtime, he's often found with a book in hand.
Hand To Hand Combat:
Kurt is incredibly skilled in hand-to-hand combat. He combines his fighting skills with his powers which makes him a formidable opponent in single combat.
Medic:
Kurt is learned in the ways of Emergency First Aid. He has the knowledge of how to stop bleeding, splint limbs and such. He is only a 'first responder' and has no real training after that.
Pilot:
Kurt is something of an accomplished pilot; he is more than capable of flying the Blackbird, at any rate. Teleportation gives him that added ability of spacial orientation.
Social Graces:
Kurt has had training in the social graces. He knows courtly manners, Romani manners, and has exemplary modern manners. he knows his way around a formal meal. He can dance, and he knows proper greetings.
Kurt speaks English, German, Romani, Japanese and French fluently.

Bamfs:
Five blue fuzzy balls of 'bamf'. These little guys are about 2' tall, and look almost exactly like Kurt only in chibi form. They're little naked imps with prehensile tails that can teleport (and unlike Kurt, can teleport blindly). More often than not, they're at Kurt's beck and call, and only Kurt truly understands what it is they're saying when they speak. They're very intelligent and have been known to steal things like toasters, hair dryers and such, only to make dimension portals with the parts. If something is missing, the chances are good that one of the bamfs took it.
Swords:
Kurt has a collection of blades. Most are fencing weapons. He does know how to use them.

Faith:
Kurt's devout faith can be used against him. He does not like to hurt people if he can manage it, and he will go out of his way to protect others even if it endangers him. Mocking acts and rampant blasphemy will engage his temper as well, making him act foolishly.
Neyaphem:
Kurt is part Neyaphem, a mutant with demon blood. He cannot take the blood of a Cheyarafim (healing blood of an Angel.. Warren, looking at you!). If their blood was mixed, Kurt would be in a great deal of pain and/or torment.
Non-Lethal:
Kurt will not take a life, nor will he allow one taken in his name or in his cause. He believes that all life is sacred and that all souls can be saved up until that point of dying. Because of this, he will pull his punches and do what he can to incapacitate rather than kill.
