The person of interest in a 'bombing' of a high school gymnasium, Brian Carerra's photo had been on TV news for a while, the sixteen year old that hardly seems like a dangerous person. The infamy sits on him like a ton of bricks, horrendously aware that he was responsible for the deaths of some of his classmates and injuring others.

Brian Carerra is what seems to be a normal sixteen year old boy. He has wide eyes that look like they carry the weight of the world. He's more suited for a runner than a football player, a bit lanky. And definitely not out of the waters of uncertainty that come in being a teenager. He is goofy and sometimes trips over his own feet.

History

Born to the Carreras of Metropolis, Brian and his two brothers had a mostly stable childhood, your normal slice of Americana.

The Carerras, moves from Seattle to Metropolis when their kids were young. Brian had been about six years old at the time. As he grew up, Brian was placed in GT courses, and showed an aptitude for engineering. He created an app that was used to keep GPS locations and real time scores on most PGA golf courses.

His elder brother, Marshall, was inseparable from Brian for most of their lives. Doing most things that young boys do, exploring and playing around.

High School was an easy transition for Brian. He went out for his high school basketball team, and made it to the second string on the freshman team. The team had made its way to the finals in their district, but had lost the last shot, after Brian missed it.

When this year had started, Brian was determined to improve. Spending hours studying films and strategies to get better, his confidence swelled. The day his powers emerged was normal like any other, Brian made his way to the gym for basketball practice, and as teenage boys do, they buck off at each other. Some of the team had not let go of the fact they lost the big game, and Conner Kensington had determined he needed to rub it in with Brian yet again today. Of course, once it turned to physical violence, a massive force almost made the roof cave in at his school. The only unharmed survivor was Brian. Conner Kensington, died from the blast, along with two others. Others present during the blast were hurt and sent to the hospital. Unconscious and unbeknownst to those not there, Brian had manifested his mutant abilities. Many authorities had assumed a bomb had gone off, though there wasn't any evidence of explosives. The local authorities have listed Brian as a person of interest in the 'attack'. At the moment though, they only knew that there was one boy there that was hardly hurt, and many more that died or were seriously injured.

Brian is an introvert, preferring to spend his time in quiet, rather than seeking out large groups of people. He keeps his distance from most others, opting to be a wallflower. Before then, he was much the same, though he was outwardly more happy. Of course going forward as a mutant is much different, there is so much to adjust to for Brian.

ENERGY FIELD
Through exposed areas of his body, Brian can project his energy outward, creating a forcefield around his body. While not making himself impervious to harm, this does protect Brian against small arms fire and blunt force trauma. Starting out, he can keep physical trauma at bay for 10 minutes, this is at full power where impacts up to 5 tons can be halted. But with each impact, his ability to withstand these impacts lessens by a third. Meaning at full power to his energy field, and at a minimum distance around him, he can withstand a five ton impact a maximum of three times before he cannot hold it any longer. The field itself can be projected for around three feet around him, just enough to shield someone else. Of course, projecting this far out takes more focus and energy. At most, he can take two five ton hits at full power and full extension. It's an emergency thing, not to be used as a general armor.

ENERGY PROJECTION
While in his containment suit, Brian is only able to project his energy blasts from his gauntlets. Beams ranging from the size of his finger, to joining both arms together for a blast of a radius of 1.5 feet. His energy projections have the force of up to three tons of force behind them, the force varies by the diameter of the beam. Since the beam is a physical force, he can punch through a wall given the wall is weaker than the beam. At full power, his largest blast can send a continuous beam of energy for five minutes and ten tons of force.

FORCE BATTERY
Brian's abdomen contains a new internal organ, about the size of a softball, and as hard as a stone. This organ, contains Brian's converted UV energy now in an unstable form, ready to be channeled back through his skin and projected outwards. At full capacity, Brian's 'battery' is able to power both his energy blasts and a energy field for a total of 25 minutes at low power, and as short as 10 at high power. At low levels, his mental awareness gets sluggish, along with some involuntary shakiness. Once exposed to some UV radiation, these symptoms relieve themselves. However, if he is completely drained, he can experience seizures if not exposed to UV within two hours. Prolonged depletion can also have the side effect of him losing consciousness until fully charged.

UV CONVERSION

Brian's skin absorbs ambient and direct UV radiation and uses this to power his mutant abilities. His overall health is also affected by the amount of energy he has stored up, if he is running low, his skin tone becomes pale and he becomes lethargic. More on this weakness in the appropriate weakness file. Brian must have skin showing in order to absorb UV, but at a minimum his face should be exposed.

ACADEMICS
Brian is an A student, with a sharp mind. His skill comes from a willingness and drive to learn. He has struggles when it comes to more creative outlets, but he uses that to keep trying, it proves to himself that he isn't perfect.

CODING
Brian has challenged himself in the past by creating an app that allows a golfer to track their scores in real time. It's proven to be popular in the golf community, and fun to use as well! He has the ability to use these programming skills in the future, but by no means is he a computer wunderkind.

HIGH IQ
Brian is a gifted thinker. Being able to see multiple solutions to problems as they arise.

MENTAL ACUITY

Brian is gifted with an extremely nimble mind. He adapts at the flip of a coin, and able to judge a good course of action accordingly.

APP
The app he created over a year ago has gained traction in the golf world. Many people use it, and while he does not control the business of it, which Brian Sr. does, the Junior does get access to a small stipend monthly for pocket money. His college is also paid for by the majority of the funds he received from the app.

CONTAINMENT SUIT
Due to the volatility of his mutation, Brian exhibits very poor control over his energy projection. When he reached Xavier's, he was provided with a containment suit that overrides his natural containment abilities. His suit also has an emergency bypass function in where excess energy is let off in a non-violent manner through what looks like smoke or vapor. This function is mostly for safety, and mimics Brian's own natural bypass, in which the vapor is let off through his eyes instead of projecting a beam.

The inner suit contains a network of extremely flexible fiber optic wiring, which when connected to the boots and gauntlets, allow for UV LED's to be activated and shine to Brian's exposed skin underneath. The suit is not armored, save for the steel casings on the boots and the gauntlets, of which only the gauntlets are rated for any sort of ballistics, similar to Cyclops' visor, the gauntlets are designed to hold back and channel the energy from Brian, not to keep him safe from attack.

PARENTS
Brian's parents are not exactly rich, but does well for themselves. And he can rely on them financially.

XAVIER'S

When he becomes a member of the Xavier's student body, Brian was placed under their care. If he gets in trouble, they would work in the best interest of Brian.

EMOTIONAL STATE
As most bullied kids get, there's a breaking point when Brian is pushed that far. And while it happened at his school, it's possible that he loses control again, if pushed that far.

HUMAN FRAGILITY
Brian's internal energy battery is as susceptible to harm as any other internal organ. Without his tissue keeping the converted energy contained, the energy would be let out all at once through any sort of rupture that would tear open the organ by half. This would be a major gunshot, or a shotgun blast. This explosion given all at once could theoretically level one city block, and kill Brian in the process.

Minor wounds would start to deplete his battery at a rate of ten percent per five minutes. During this time, Brian's body would use its overflow method to release the expended energy as non-violent as possible, but it would render him unable to fight back after a short while, suffering the effects of his energy depletion.

Even though his battery is hard, it is subject to damage akin to a bruise, if he takes blunt force to the battery, he can suffer internal injuries to it just like others. The battery when 'bruised' would have a diminished capacity while it heals, suffering up to a 50 percent capacity loss for up to three weeks as the tissues heal.

VOLATILITY

Brian's mutation is mostly uncontrolled, and without his suit, he would certainly give off beams without wanting to. This can cause harm to others, or himself.
