Description
Dusk is a pitch black silhouette of a girl, with what looks like cloth wings under her arms that stretch to great lengths at times.
History
...There once was a girl named Cassie St. Commons.
Your parents are wealthy, but they don't feel like they are your family, somehow. You don't know why. Every day, you dress in black, curls of eyeliner down your cheek. Even you aren't sure why you create yourself that way every day. You have books about mysticism, witchcraft, and the like on your bookshelf. You have yet to find answers from them.
You go to college. You have a few friends there, ones as strange as you.
One day, you are all offered costumes by a mysterious benefactor, the Black Marvel, that give you all power. Yours is dark and blends into the shadows. And you all train hard to be heroes.
...She died.
The team is having a test of heroic skills. Pass or fail. And among the tests is a roof run. Hornet and Prodigy fly across. Ricochet jumps with his superhuman abilities. And you stand on the roof, composing yourself. You can't do any of those things.
Finally, you take a step forward..
..and fall..
..ten stories down.
Darkness.
She got better.
Dark. Cold.
"Tony... Didn't - I mean, wasn't she more.. Beat up?"
" She's dead enough, Barry."
The morgue drawer labeled 'Doe, Jane' closes with you inside, followed by the room outside being closed up for the night. Your eyes snap open.
Who am I? Cold. Dark.
>bleenk!<
But she wasn't Cassie anymore.
You stand on a rooftop. Long way down. Who am I? I was Cassie. I am Dusk.
Personality
When Dusk returned from the dead, she followed her friends around. She didn't battle the villains head on, she rescued bystanders. She avoided fights and talked her way out of problems. It was only when she and her friends were surrounded by hordes of demons that she cut loose to attack directly for the first time.
Abilities
DARKFORCE BLAST
Dusk has used her powers offensively before; she built up and released a huge blast that tore apart an army of demons, although it took a lot out of her. She channeled her power, physically transforming a bit, then released it destructively, managing not to hurt her teammates in the process. The process of switching form and channeling the blast takes a pose to build first.
DARKFORCE CONDUIT
Dusk wears a "costume" made of pitch black Darkforce, which she controls at will. It has gliding wings that she can fly short distances with (but not hover), and can sprout tendrils which she can use to grab and manipulate nearby objects with about a ton of strength.
LIVING DEAD GIRL
Dusk is dead, and doesn't seem to get hungry, thirsty, or need to breathe normally anymore.
REGENERATION
"We found a girl who we think might have been your daughter, dead from a fall from a very long distance. The same night, the body was removed from the morgue, somehow."
Dusk seems to be able to recover from extreme amounts of damage quickly, while resting in a trance or unconscious; she healed fully from a ten story fall onto concrete that killed her in about 24 hours.
SHADOW DWELLER
Dusk can see perfectly well in darkness, even pitch black. In shadows, she is invisible and makes no sound that she doesn't want to make. Shadows are comfortable in ways that well lit places no longer are.
SPIRIT SENSE
"You're a good man. I can sense it."
Dusk can sense things about spirits somehow. Great goodness, vile evil, humanity, or its absence. It's vague, but sometimes she just gets a feeling about something.
Additionally, she can sense if her original teammates are in danger or afraid, somehow, and seems to be able to teleport to them even if she wouldn't normally know where they are.
(This ability is limited by consent; let me know if you think I might notice something.)
TELEPORT
>bleenk!<
Dusk can teleport at will by moving through the Darkforce Dimension. She can bring people with her; she turns herself into a portal and spits them out at her destination, though bringing other people seems to be a bit tiring if she does it too much all at once.
Skills
OCCULT
Resources
SLINGERS
Dusk can always count on her original team to help her, and she seems to be able to find them if she needs to.
UBIQUITOUS REFUGE
Weaknesses
AS A DOORNAIL
"I'm so cold, and you are so warm.. I can't hear my heart beating."
Dusk is dead. She has no pulse, and her body temperature is room temperature. She is legally dead, and unable to do a lot of things legally as a result. Her voice has a strange quality to it now. These come in handy on rare occasions, but usually it's a pain.
FATIGUE
Bigger uses of her powers seems to wear Dusk out quickly. Transporting other people, blasting, and regeneration tap her out quickly, and she can only do two or three things like that in quick succession, one if it's really pushing the envelope, before she is unable to do anything else like that for a bit. She recovers quickly, say, two or three poses or a minute or two, but a lot can happen in that time.
