Clark Kent Staycation countdown. It starts at the End of the Day. So, the countdown clock ticks over Lois's head. Maybe Clark planned it this way. It's the Thursday before Valentine's Day. Deadlines continue forward. Everything's in motion. Clark is busy with his own work as the day continues to stretch on. Although, he will look at her from time to time. Lois hates vacations. So, it's why he watches her for a while. Seeing if she could do anything to fight this. Still, he will focus on his work knowing they have the time off for a longer weekend. Clark will keep moving. Lois will see him slip in and out of the office depending on stories and those that need Superman. He doesn't seem annoyed or concerned about the vacation countdown. How will Lois cope with the incoming vacation?
Lois Lane Lois Lane just works. Every time Clark comes in to check on her, that's what she's doing. Either she's on the phone, typing something out, or sending emails. Trying to avoid the topic over their heads. What happens when the day ends and vacation begins. It's annoying, and something she's been avoiding all day. Lois Lane doesn't take vacations. She barely takes off days. How in the world is she supposed to survive without her job? And it's not like Clark can just stop being Superman, so what is she supposed to do when he's out saving Metropolis. Oh she could kill the man for doing this to her but she knows, in the back of her head and at the bottom of her heart that the jerk means well. And she likely -does- need this. Though at one point when he pops his head in, she finally looks over at him. "If you're waiting for me to explode, that's not going to happen. I will suffer internally and smile outwardly."
Clark Kent Clark's impressed that Lois keeps to the grindstone without losing it. That is until the last check in. Seeing what she says makes his eyes widen and he almost sinks away from her area. He's afraid to check in again. And so, Clark will just keep the grindstone himself. Wanting to stay on her good side. Because Lois Lane can be -very- scary when upset. He just watches the time here, there, focusing on his work and everything else, but Lois. Lunch may be enjoyed separately.
Lois Lane A few hours later, after Lois has shut down her computer and finished for the day she sits for a lingering moment before standing and stepping out of her office. She's actually missed seeing Clark poke his head in and remembering the why he sort of backed down from her that last time he checked in. So now she's looking for him, and when she finds him she'll look a bit sheepish. "...I'm sorry..."
Clark Kent Clark's in his office, finishing up a few things. That's when she steps in. Truing in his chair, "You forget how scary you truly can be," and he says tha as a compliment along withs ome degree of reverence. Truning back aroudn to focus on his work for a few more moments, "How did work go?" he asks softly, his attention on her despite not turning around.
Lois Lane "It's more I forget how scary you think I am...the fact that I can scare you, of all people, is sometimes alarming. Funny. But also alarming." Lois says, keeping her tone gentle and at that next question she shrugs. "It went alright. Got everything done...and then got told to log off before I try to give myself deadlines over my vacation cause they wouldn't be accepted." She then motions. "How goes things for you?"
Clark Kent "I'm just setting things up for next week. So, once the computer is off it can stay off," he looks back to Lois. He knows that's a scary thought for her. Because sometimes it's hard to just shut things off. Yet, they would have to in this situation. Not, that it's the end of the world or anything.
Lois Lane Lois Lane nods and then looks around his office a moment before she motions. "I'll go start getting dinner ready then..." She offers, smiles, and then turns to make her way out to the kitchen. She's no chef, but she can put together a decent meal for when they're staying inside. This may even be a true test of if they can stand each other for most of the day until he's out playing super hero. So. What to cook....or should she just order something for the evening.
Clark Kent Clark smiles and he looks toward her. He knows she's not really a cook by any stretch of the imagination. Although, he knows she might have practiced. Clark shuts down the computer and will cafefully walk into the kitchen watching her. "What are you thinking beautiful? Are you okay? ARe we okay?" he asks softly just making sure. "And yes. It's amusing you're scary. I think you don't realize how being a child of a military officer does make you different. Not in a bad way. You can just do a few things to get attention," Clark explains as he leans in a doorway.
Lois Lane "I'm fine. We're fine. Dinner may not be fine..." Lois says as she looks in the fridge and the pantry trying to come up with something. "I'm beginning to think chinese. I could go for a good coconut chicken lo mein dish right about now." Then she glances over to him. "Maybe some wine to wash it down." A sigh. "See and that's the thing. Didn't really get breaks being in a military family. That's ingrained into me. And I'm afraid that I won't even begin to relax until it's almost over and I'll have to go right back into work mode. So why bother taking vacations."
Clark Kent "I like a good coconut chicken. You know that," Clark grins and then he moves to her. A hand lsips to her shoulder. "You need to learn how to take a break. You will overwork yourself and then everything in your life will suffer," he says softly. This isn't him chiding, he's just trying to teach a workaholic how to do self care. Dull blue eyes watch her and he offers Lois a hug. A smile on his face.
Lois Lane Lois Lane gives him a look but then she seems to resign a bit. "I know. I'll try. I think with you're help it will work out fine." Then she smiles and nods. "Coconut chicken it is..." They likely even have a favorite place to order it from and so she'll pull out her phone and begin to place an order. "Do you want to go get it or have it delivered?" Asking this and then she's being hugged. She'll hug back, and even squeeze a little, letting tension just melt away from her.
Clark Kent "How about we get it delivered?" Clark asks softly, he's in no rush to let her slip out of his arms. They both needed this. His gaze looking down at Lois for a moment. LEaning forward, he kisses her head. A simle on his face as he is just happy to be around Lois. A hand strokes at her back slowly.
