Shiloh | Plenty of things go on at the Sparring Center. It's not just for the swift nimbling of fencing. Oh no. People of all sorts of fighting backgrounds come here to train, practice, excercise - whatever one may want to call it. In the case of Shiloh? She's actually practicing the longsword for the moment. On a practice dummy. Which is likely a good thing because the strikes she's making on the dummy may very well harm an actual person. Almost like she's out to maim. Out for blood. Russel, her friend and trainer, watches her from a distance before walking over. "Hey, woah... where's the fire Shy? Also, don't you have that movie star friend person coming in today to spar? Why are you practicing without him?" "No reason." Comes the London-turned-New Yorker's reply. "Just... getting out some frustration..." "Better ways to do that I think." "...Bite me." |
Nick Drago | "That seems like something that should come after a few dates, not before." A comment rings up from behind Russel. Stepping to the side, Nick peeks around the instructor to look to Shiloh. Of course that is when said movie star friend person just happens to come waltzing on in. Oh the timing! "I'm kidding of course." The ponytailed, dressed down musician tilts his head as he considers Shiloh, "Did I come at a bad time?" |
Shiloh | "No." Shiloh sheathes her practice blade. "Not at all. We made a plan for this yes? Just...forgive me if I seem a bit. Terse. Just a bad few days is all..." Further explaining this as she moves to put the practice blade up and then she'll come back with a smile. "So. Have you been given any more direction on what you need to focus on for this role?" Russel just grins. "I will leave you two to it. Let me know if I can help in any way though." With a direct look to Nick. "Good luck." And then he's strolling off. |
Nick Drago | "Ah. Bad days. Yeah can understand those. Just don't kill me in practice." Nick glances over to Russel, giving him a nod as Shiloh deals with her belongings. "Thanks." He responds back to the instructor who... tends to disappear for most of the instruction. Oh well. So long as it looks good on screen. Once Shiloh comes back he glances up in thought. "I think the main thing was that they settled on the role and that I'd be dual wielding against two people at one point. One who is 'good with the sword' and the other who 'just picked it up out of desperation'." |
Shiloh | "Dual wielding in fencing? Huh. Interesting..." Shiloh considers. "Or did they pick another sword style to go with then?" Just to make sure she knows how to train Nick. "We'll need another person when we begin that one. So I'll likely have to get Russel back and he can play as the one who just picked it up in desperation." Her eyes sparkle with the laughter she doesn't really show. "Alright... you ready? Or do you need to warm up first?" |
Nick Drago | "Well it's a fight between the antagonist, the protagonist and the protagonist's wife. So it's not like a formal competition. But- hopefully the escrima helps with figuring out the dual wield. I'm guessing in character speaking, form would be going out the window at that point." He pauses, letting Shiloh determine which of the characters was the desperate one. "I think the studio should have filled Russel in on that adjustment once they had locked in the roles." Nick comments, moving over to the bench to set his water bottle down. "Yeah, I can start when you can. Did my stretching already." |
Nick Drago | Parry. Parry. Thrust. Thrust. GOOOOOOOODDDD! Sword time. Yippie skippy. Parry. Thrust. |
Shiloh | One. Two. Three. Miss. One. Two. Three. MISS. Shiloh's out of her mind enough, apparently, that Nick gets more hits on her than the other way around. After some time, she calls a pause and struggles over to a bench where her things are at. Fumbling around, she then motions. "I'm actually going to go outside. Catch some unclean air. If you wanna join me." She does have her water bottle, but she's also got a pack of smokes - of which she'll light one up once outside and a few steps away from the door. |
Nick Drago | As the practice goes there's a mix of general responses. On the first hit, Nick smiles. But as the hits keep landing, that smile gradually fades over to one more of mild concern. When the pauses is asked for, Nick nods readily to the suggestion. "Break sounds good." He agrees, moving over to grab his water bottle. There's no pack grabbed on his end, nor does he bring up a mini lecture about them. But once the scent of the smoke hits him he pauses. It seems he's been spoiled by the Devil's partaking of the Cin sticks. "Really bad couple of days, huh?" |
Shiloh | Shiloh notes the sort of pause Nick takes as she's smoking and she looks between the cigarette and him. "Oh. I'm sorry. Does smoke bother you? I can try to stand a bit more downwind of you if it does. Sorry." She says this, sincerity in her voice as she does. When he brings up the bad couple of days, she shrugs. "Yeah. Boyfriend found out about my other jo---my... uhm..." She falters and then takes a breath. "He found out something about me that I don't think he likes. And now I haven't heard from him in a couple days. So. That's frustrating. Otherwise things are going...okay...business at the bakery is a bit down but I think it's because winter is coming. I might need to try and find other items to sell that will draw attention in these colder times." |
Nick Drago | Nick shakes his head. "It's not that it's just-" He pauses, considering how the hell he would explain it in a normal conversation. "I quit a long time ago. You're fine." He'll probably have to explain something sometime but that's not the conversation for it. Instead he listens to the explanation for what went wrong, giving a slight nod. A brow lifts to the aborted attempt to say something. Job? Why would he be upset about the tutoring? A brow lifts. Or maybe the other thing? But the topic switches over to the bakery now. "Pumpkin Spice drinks, Hot chocolate, Apple Cider, Christmas Cookies, yule logs, fried jelly filled donuts, and potato pancakes." Nick suggests before drifting back to the other topic. "...Remy, right?" |
Shiloh | "Yeah. Those are all great ideas." Shiloh says this, skipping over the part of how Nick quit a long time ago. "I pick it up and put it down all the time. I don't really think I'm addicted to them...cause I only really get into smoking again when I'm stressed." As he begins to list off things, she lets out a light laugh. "Wanna come by t he shop and tell me those things later. I mean I can likely remember them all... but I could use a taster." She offers with a wink. Nothing flirty. Well maybe a bit. It's in her nature, really. "Yeah. Remy." She confirms. "Do you... know what else I do? At this point I wonder if all my friends should know... for the just in case..." Saying this much as she flicks ashes and takes another drag. |
Nick Drago | "I picked it up during a stressful time." Nick admits, "...But stuff happens. Things change...And Smoking isn't exactly a good thing when you're trying to improve your singing." Nick smiles to the offer. "...You drive a hard bargain. I suppose I could offer my services as a taste tester. This time." The smile fades slightly as she asks about knowing what else she does. "...Do you mean running around with swords? Because... I think that's a known thing by now." He tilts his head back in gesture to the opening of the building. There's a pause as Nick considers the question. "...Not particularly but, I could guess what the third thing might be." He cracks a slight smile, "You could say a little bird told me." |
