Profile
Captain Harold "Highball" Jordan, USAF (Ret.) is a former fighter pilot for the USAF and a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft Inc. Hal is also the Green Lantern of Sector 2814, and has been known as "the Greatest Green Lantern of all time". As a "policeman" of space of sorts, he is charged by the Guardians of the Universe to uphold law, order, and the tenants of the Green Lantern Corps. As a GL, Hal uses his power ring, one of the most powerful weapons in the Universe, to turn his will into reality, limited only by that will and his imagination.

Description
The man that stands before you seems to exude confidence. From his eyes, to his well kept brown hair, to the way he moves. He is tall, around 6'2", and appears in his early thirties. There is just a hint of grey hair at his temples, adding a distinguished look to his features. He weighs in at approximately 180 pounds, and is in excellent shape. His athletic, muscular physique is a testament to his intensive workout regimen. Handsome, with a charming, devilish smile and a gleam to his eye, this man appears ready to take on the world.
History
Hal Jordan was working as a test pilot in his home town of Coast City, when he was chosen by a dying alien named Abin Sur to weld a powerful ring because of his courage and fearlessness. This ring could create anything the welder desired, limited by the will of the bearer. Its only weakness is that it could not affect anything yellow. However, the ring had a time-dependent charge and had to be reenergized by means of a "battery."
Abin Sur was only one of 3600 members of a corps of Green Lanterns, commanded by a race of aliens called the Guardians of the Universe. The Guardians provided power to the main power battery on the planet Oa from which all the corps members derive their powers from. The Guardians then sent Hal to bring in Sinestro, a renegade Green Lantern who used his power ring for personal gain, a violation of Guardian rules. Sinestro was brought down by Hal and was subsequently stripped of his ring and sent to another dimension. Sinestro, while exiled, came upon another power ring which gained its powers from other Green Lanterns. This power ring was yellow and used yellow-shifted energy instead of green. Over time, Sinestro and Hal fought on several occasions, until Sinestro was banished into the main power battery on Oa.
Meanwhile, Hal became a superhero, mainly concentrating on his home town of Coast City, and joined the Justice League of America. Hal also teamed up with Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow, and became best friends with him. He had many romantic connections, including his boss Carol Ferris of the Ferris Aircraft Company. As Hal became more and more experienced, he became known as the greatest Green Lantern to have ever served in the Corps. He was looked up to by the new Green Lanterns in the Corps, and respected and admired by the veterans of the Corps.
Personality
Hal is cool and calm under fire, and utterly fearless, making him a great Green Lantern. He has amazing willpower and ability with the Power Ring bequeathed him by Abin Sur, and has made a name for himself as the greatest Green Lantern of all time. He is compassionate and caring, and enjoys helping those in need. He is open-minded, and this quality has helped him fit into the alien-filled GL Corps with no problem. He is a bit irratated and feels penned in by the limitless rules of the Guardians of the Universe, and is sometimes short with them. He does have a temper, and ocassionally this slips out, as he speaks his mind. He is highly resiliant to change, and works well in a group. He is respected and admired by his peers, and they listen to what he has to say. He is a good tactician and strategist, and uses this to full advantage.
Hal is a good guy. He is willing to help others, and is willing to sacrifice himself, or even his sanity, to ensure that people are saved from destruction or pain. He is strong willed, and excellent leader when placed in command. He is willing to go to great lengths to ensure that justice is done, and this has caused him to butt heads with others in the past, from The Guardians of the Universe, to Green Arrow, and even Superman and Batman. He does have a large ego, due to his background of a test pilot and jock, but he has tempered it with experience and pain, so it is usually under control. He is an expert with the Power Ring, and is an exceptional tactician when it comes to using the resources of the Green Lantern Corps.
Abilities
FEARLESS
Hal Jordan is the DC version of the "man without fear" and this translates into Hal taking chances where others would fear to go. While not completely immune to fear, the effects of terror and terror related devices are diminished when used on him. With his near superhuman willpower, he can try and resist these effects. He has learned to overcome great fear, and this is one of his greatest strengths.
POWER BATTERY
Hal Jordan must recharge his ring every 24 hours, or when the charge has been depleted. The Green Lantern Power Battery takes its power from the Oan Power Battery, and is used to recharge the Green Lantern Power Ring. It is kept at his apartment, invisible until needed or called upon by the Green Lantern.
POWER RING
Hal Jordan is totally without fear, and has an incredible willpower. This translates into his abilities with the ring that are second to none. He is able to use the ring as though born to it. However, his imagination is usually relegated to creating basic images. Boxing gloves, hammer, cubes for cells, and ordered constructs that aren't too complicated.
- Energy Manipulation - Hal Jordan has a superhuman level willpower, with a strength only matched by some heavy hitters in the DC Universe, such as Darkseid and Superman. His constructs are particularly strong and basic, with a strength to withstand a few blows from Superman before weakening or breaking. This causes a lot of strain on his willpower, but due to his abilities, it has only minor effects on him. Hal generally does not create complicated constructs with his ring. However, they are just as effective as some constructs created by more creative members of the Corps. These constructs exist as long as GL concentrates on them, and they have quite a "punch" when used to cause damage. These constructs have been known to send Superman for a loop, and their strength level is around Captain Marvel levels.
- Travel - While in an atmosphere, GL is only able to fly at speeds which don't damage a planet's atmosphere. This translates into moving at approximately Superman's speeds in an atmosphere. In space, Green Lantern can travel past light speed, and travels through wormholes in space to attain massive speeds traveling intergalactic distances in short periods of time.
- Emergency Backup - This can only be used once in a 24 hour period, and requires the ring to be recharged before this ability can be used again.
- Force Fields - This force field can withstand both physical and energy attacks, plus the ring also protects it's wearer from other effects, such as a vacuum, high speeds in an atmosphere, and radiation. It's strength can withstand blows from Superman for brief intervals.
- Phasing - This power allows GL to phase through most materials similar to the Flash.
Translation Matrix - The ring can translate most languages given enough time. - Information Database - The ring has stored a massive amount of information gleaned from the Central Battery on Oa, and is able to access that information easily with incredible speed. Currently Sector 2814 is stored in Hal Jordan's ring.
- Invisibility - Hal can turn himself and a small group of others invisible.
- Energy Twin - Hal can send his energy twin off to gain information, or travel to a meeting. This being travels at unbelievable speeds and can only be seen by GLs or an Oan.
- Communication - Hal is able to communicate with other GLs through his ring over short distances. He has to be within line of sight to do this act, which is difficult. However, Hal's will is strong enough to break through most other GLs mental barriers. Hal would never do that however, unless necessary.
- Emergency Beacon - Hal can send an emergency signal to a GL in a sector next to him if it is an emergency or he requires assistance.
- Remote Control - Hal's will allow him to be able to control his ring from a short distance. Since his will is so strong, it is highly unlikely that the ring would be usurped by another's will, but it is possible.
WILLPOWER
Skills
ATHLETICS
Hal Jordan enjoys a good game of football, and keeps in shape by running and working out. This gives him an above average endurance and he maintains a healthy lifestyle.
COMBAT
Hal Jordan is by no means an expert of hand to hand combat. However, he can hold his own, having received military training as an officer in the USAF, Kilowog's martial regimen on Oa, and some training from Batman and Wonder Woman. Hal is also familiar with firearms due to his military training, but this is rusty at best. He hasn't picked up a gun in years.
DRIVING
Hal Jordan is a capable driver, of cars, trucks, motorcycles and "big rigs" or "18 wheelers" as well. He has done some trucking in his past, and is familiar with standard and automatic transmissions.
INTERGALACTIC KNOWLEDGE
Hal Jordan has been a member of the Green Lantern Corps for sometime, and in those years he has picked up a myriad of skills and knowledge from several hundred alien races. He knows politics, technology, cultures, science and history of several races he has come in contact with, and is familiar with the Intergalactic Community at large.
LEADERSHIP
Hal Jordan has received training in leadership from the USAF. Hal has also been given command of numerous missions for the GLC and has been extremely successful. Hal is a natural leader, charismatic, and confident. An above average tactician and strategist, Hal has discovered that he is actually an excellent leader, when called to serve in that capacity, and doesn't shy away from the spotlight when placed in charge. Hal has no problem stepping up and taking command when necessary.
PILOT
Hal Jordan has been a USAF fighter pilot and a civilian test pilot for years. He is one of the most recoginized, skillful pilots of jets in the world. He is familiar with all the latest aircraft, including US Military experimental jet fighters. He has military training in the flying of these jets, and uses that ability to excel at his job.
SURVIVAL
Resources
FERRIS AIRCRAFT
Hal Jordan has been, and is currently, a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft, and is on reasonibly good terms with the current owner, and former lover, Carol Ferris. This allows him a normal life, with money and a job, with a relative open schedule to remain Green Lantern.
GREEN LANTERN CORPS
Hal Jordan is a member of the Universe spanning organization known as the Green Lantern Corps. Hal may call upon the resources of this group and the Guardians of the Universe, including all of the resources of Oa, when necessary.
JUSTICE LEAGUE
As a founding member of the Justice League, Hal can call upon the members of the team for assistance when necessary. This includes Superman, Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and many others. He also has access to the resources, gear, and headquarters of the League.
USAF
Weaknesses
CONCERN FOR OTHERS
Hal Jordan is extremely concerned for others, so much so that he would sacrifice himself for others, with no hesitation, if necessary. This is also a possible future flaw...could his mind snap if he thought he could have saved others, but was helpless to? Could Paralax happen once again?
POWER RING FLAWS
Yellow Impurity - Due to an impurity in the Power Battery, the Power Ring is useless against anything yellow. However, with strong enough willpower, and with the wearer overcoming fear, the wearer can affect yellow objects with a massive amount of willpower.
Recharge - Hal Jordan must recharge the Power Ring in the Power Battery every 24 hours or when the ring's energy supply is depleted, or the ring runs out of power, and will no longer work.
Backlash - If any construct created by a ring is destroyed it will send a psychic backlash back at Hal. This backlash generally isn't enough to really wound Hal, but it will leave him disoriented for a brief time if it was severe enough.
