A Giving Mood

Location:	New Hope Shelter, East Harlem
Synopsis:	Nikki starts off the new year with new donations at New Hope. There's talk of getting pets as well.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Well, it may not be Thanksgiving or Christmas but Nick once again finds himself at New Hope Shelter. However, he's not working the kitchen but once again at the front desk.

The building is not as busy as it normally is around the holidays, which- depending on one's mindset, could be either a good thing or a bad thing. But it does lead to a reasonably quiet setting in the lobby area as Nick simply sits, waiting for the other person assigned to the desk to come back from their break.

Behold the power of a buddy system.

Nikki Hawkins has posed:
The last time Nikki was here, she feels like she remembers Bad Things happening. That never will deter the woman from doing a good deed and since she just got a whole lot of gifts from the boyfriend, friends, teammates and sponsors...she has things to give away. It's a cycle she loves completing and what brings her walking into New Hope with a box full of things.

"Oh! Hey Nick. How is he today? How was his holiday?"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Hearing a familiar voice, Nick turns his head to look to the new arrival. "Hey Nikki!" The rocker greets, smiling as he does so. "The holidays were pretty peaceful for me and the dinners here went off without any issue. Can't get much better than that."

Honestly it could be but- it's been established when it comes to the quality of events, Nick has low standards for what is considered great. We'll let him have this one.

"And how was yours? Spend it with Tim?"

Nikki Hawkins has posed:
"Nikki's was splendous. She and Tim had a great time together..." The gamer states as she moves further in and sets the box down on the floor in front of the table. "Nikki got all sorts of presents and so she did another round through her closet. She needed room for the new stuff, so the not so new is going to be donated..." And she likes donating here for a few reasons. "Did Nick get anything good for Christmas?"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick glances to the box as it's lowered, glancing back up once the table blocks the view of the contents. "Well I thank you for thinking of New Hope when you considered finding a new home for your belongings."

There's a turn in Nick's chair as he reaches over for the binder containing the intake forms. With a snap, the binder's opened allowing for him to retrieve one form. The page is set on the counter before Nikki along with a pen.

By now Nikki should know the drill.

"Glad to hear you had a good time."

As for the inquiry for getting anything good for Christmas, Nick pauses, taking a moment to consider. He grins. "Well... I got to spend time with family and friends without a worry. No running. No disturbances. Just enjoying the moments. That's pretty good."

Nikki Hawkins has posed:
Nikki smiles as Nick takes out the intake form and offers it and a pen to her. She does know the drill and begins to fill out the lines. "Nikki thinks that's the best part about the holidays. It's not really what we get in material possessions...but the people we get to spend it with. She's met some of Tim's family and a couple...friends. It was certainly the best holiday she's had in a while..." It's the first holiday she's had with Tim. Maybe the second. She's lost count.

Scratch, scratch, scratch. Pen against paper against table is heard as she continues to fill out the forms.

"Nikki's thinking of getting a pet...but she needs to find out if Tim is allergic to any sort of dog or cat or something..." She comments off hand while continuing to write.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
With Nikki managing the paperwork, Nick gets up from his seat to walk around the table to retrieve the box. Crouching down, he lifts with the knees, just in case he finds out Nikki's old belongings includes weights at the bottom of the box.

As Nick makes his way back around the desk to his side, he hears mention of potential pet decisions. "I'm more of a dog person but my uncles have a cat. Both are pretty good options. Although a cat will probably not mind it as much if you travel a lot."

Nikki Hawkins has posed:
Nikki finishes the paper work, signing off that she's freely and willingly donating the items in the box. It's clothes. Not designer, but nothing that seems older than maybe a year or two. Some items barely worn - if ever. So everything is in very good condition and ranges in sizes small to large. Not that she needs large but she sometimes likes loose clothing. And a few bits and pieces are branded items - like Mountain Dew, Monster, and Blizzard gear.

"Which is the other thing, of course. Nikki needs to make sure Tim actually wants a pet at all... he has fish tho...but fish are easy to take care of."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Depends on the fish," Nick comments, taking the finished paperwork. He looks through the box for a moment, glancing to the page from time to time. "Some of them require a bit more monitoring than others. Not that I've ever gotten a pet."

Turning back to the desk he signs upon a line before putting the sheet back into the binder. Closer to the front where other filled out forms are located. "But yes. If you two are living together now, you do need to talk it out first."
