- Spider-Man has posed:
The evening air in Sunnydale had a hint of warmth, a calm that felt almost deceptive, as Peter Parker walked up the path to the Summers House. He took a moment to adjust his mostly seafoam green collared shirt, feeling the slight itch of nerves beneath the cool fabric. His outfit was casually stylish, white and purple stripes stretching across his chest, while his jeans were perfectly unremarkable.
Peter approached the door and took a deep breath, raising a fist to knock. The brown paper bag crinkled in his grasp, the weight of the ice cream and six pack pulling at his wrist, while the chicken wings dangled below in a separate plastic bag. He had double-checked the contents a dozen times, Coca-Cola, Dulce de Leche ice cream, two boxes of wings, one salt and pepper, the other hot sauce, nothing too fancy, but a solid choice for a Netflix and Chill night. He figured it was better than bringing nothing at all.
The door swung open almost instantly, as Buffy Summers stood there.
"Hey, I, uh, hope I'm not too early. I brought snacks!" He thrust the paper bag forward as if presenting a trophy, a nervous grin spreading across his face. "I mean, who doesn't love snacks, right? Especially wings? I'm pretty sure I'm a wing connoisseur."
He chuckled, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly with his free hand. "But hey, I'm all about trying new things. Like this ice cream! Dulce de Leche, it's like a hug in a tub."
As he spoke, he glanced around the cozy living room, the faint glow of the TV casting a welcoming light over the space. It felt warm and inviting, a stark contrast to the chaos of his usual life.

"Snacks are always good," Buffy agreed as she offered to take some of the items so he wasn't as overloaded. Not that it was probably heavy but it was a bit of a juggle likely in her mind. She did take the time to peek in the bags of course, if she managed to take them. "Hug in a tub?" And she looked up at him sharply, the corner of her lips ticking up ever so slightly in amusement. Then she quickly turned before her mouth got her into trouble, she turned to lead the way into the kitchen. There she put the ice cream in the freezer, taking a moment to read the label. "Did the salesperson use that line when they talked you into trying it?"
Because he said new things so she figured he'd never had the flavor. She had never had this brand though she knew what dulce de leche was and tasted like from the past. The wings were unbagged next and she then started to get some plates out for them to split them if he was agreeable.
"I was just going to order something in for us but this is much easier. Course, depends how long we opt to watch stuff." Since if they watched more than one show or got hooked and binged a series, they could need more food later. Once they had everything settled, she'd lead the way back to the living room so they could settle in.
If he glanced in at the dining room area, he'd see a lot of books scattered on the surface although they seemed to have other things on top of them that kept the covers or spines from being read. She probably should've put them somewhere but she'd gotten busy reading and researching, losing track of time until it was too late and he was at the door. He knew she'd been stressed a lot of late. She really shouldn't be taking this time to hang out but she needed it. Needed a break from best friend turning psycho and potentially opening a door to bring Hell to Earth. It was just too much. Just a few hours to be a normal human being. Or as close to one as she'd ever be.
- Spider-Man has posed:
Peter watched as Buffy took some of the items from his hands. "Thanks, it's not heavy, but it's a bit of a juggling act," he said, grinning when she peeked into the bags. "The grocer said it and I thought it sounded catchy."
He followed her into the kitchen and leaned against the counter as she put the ice cream in the freezer. "I just saw 'Dulce de Leche' and thought it looked amazing. Can't go wrong, right?"
As she unbagged the wings, he felt a surge of excitement. "I'm totally down to split them. We could have a mini taste test. Salt and pepper versus hot sauce, like on that YouTube show with the celebrities."
He noticed the books scattered across the dining table. "Looks like you've got a lot going on here. Are you secretly a librarian?" He smiled.
He appreciated how much he needed this break, and he was glad to be here wit hher. "Just a few hours to be normal, right? Well, as normal as we can be while eating wings and ice cream." Wait, why did he say normal?
He followed her back to the living room, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. Was this a date? They'd hung out before, but tonight felt different. He let himself relax, ready to enjoy the moment, even if his flirting was a little awkward. "So, what are we going to watch?"
- Buffy Summers has posed:
At the normal comment, Buffy froze for a moment and her eyes widened the tiniest bit. Then she quickly tried to mask it as she started to split the wings between the two plates. "Hot Ones or whatever it is? Not sure I'd be able to get past level two. Maybe three."
She had made sure the beer was in the fridge though she did take one with her to the living room, and left one out for him as well presuming he'd want it since he brought it. Then she settled on the couch and set the plate of wings on the end table beside her. A beer was placed there as well. "Not a librarian. Just having to do a bit of light reading." That was the opposite of light. "We can watch whatever. I don't even know what is showing on Netflix these days. Been forever."
She tossed set the remote on the couch where he would be able to reach it. "You can drive. " Meaning the remote. "And what do you mean normal? Has it been a rough week for you?" Since that had to be what he meant, right? Couldn't mean normal like her sort of normal versus her normal normal.
- Spider-Man has posed:
Peter noticed Buffy freeze for a moment at his comment about being normal. He raised an eyebrow but didn't press, focusing instead on the wings. "Yeah, Hot Ones! I'd go all the way, but I wouldn't be happy about it. I mean, I like a little kick, but I'm not trying to breathe fire here."
He watched as she split the wings between the plates, and when she grabbed a beer, he smiled, grateful she left one out for him. "Thanks. you know, hydration is key when you're tackling wings." He followed her to the couch, setting the plate of wings on the end table next to her.
"I guess the opposite of light reading is just? heavy reading?" He chuckled softly at his own joke, and then picked up the remote when she tossed it.
"You're trusting me with the remote? Bold move!" He felt a rush of excitement mixed with nerves. "Okay, let's see? how about 'The Tudors'? It's got a young Henry Cavill as the King's best friend and Natalie Dormer as the Queen."
When she asked about his comment on being normal, he felt a little heat rise to his cheeks. "Oh, you know, just the usual stuff. Sometimes life gets a bit much. But I'm good now. Just hanging out with you, eating wings, that's my kind of normal." He hoped his attempt at flirting didn't come off too strong.
- Buffy Summers has posed:
Was it flirting or conversation? Hard to tell sometimes because they could be similar. Buffy didn't really think about it too much. Maybe if she had, she'd be more analytical and picking up more cues. Unfortunately, Dark Willow was out there and, even now, that was at the front of her mind. "Maybe heavy reading is the term. And probably not The Tudors. Lots of sex in that show. I mean, not too much cause it's Henry Cavill and Hello! But a bit too much for right now. Maybe something light? I need some humor. Show, movie, whatever."
Because God knew she hadn't been laughing at all of late.
She did just chalk up the normal comment to what he said. After all, no one had to have as crazy of a life as hers! Certainly not Peter. He was a nice, normal guy. Which was why she liked hanging out with him. Yet at the same time, she wondered if it was unfair to hang with him when he didn't know the danger he might be in just being at her house. Course, she didn't know that Peter had his own secrets and had the same problem in his life.
- Spider-Man has posed:
Peter sensed that Buffy was distracted, her thoughts elsewhere, but he didn't push. "Yeah, heavy reading definitely fits," he agreed, nodding as she shot down his first pick. "Fair point about 'The Tudors.'" He paused, trying to think of something lighter.
"Okay, how about 'Two and a Half Men'? It's a classic comedy. Lots of laughs and not too serious. Just a bunch of guys being ridiculous," he suggested, hoping it would hit the right note. "Sure, there's some adult humor, but it's terrestrial TV, like, implied, you know? Totally safe for a chill night."
He noticed her stillness, the way her smile didn't quite reach her eyes. He wanted to make her laugh; it was one of the reasons he enjoyed hanging out with her. "We can always skip to the funny parts. Who needs a plot when you have Charlie Harper's antics, right?" He gave her a playful nudge with his shoulder, trying to break through whatever was weighing on her mind.
- Buffy Summers has posed:
"Charlie who?"
And perhaps that would open the door for Peter since this was a show she'd heard the name of but had never seen. It just had never ended up as something she felt the urge to put on to watch. She didn't really even know the premise behind it.
"But if it's funny, I'm all in." She took a sip of here beer, a brand she hadn't tried, surprised to find the flavor was quite nice. She didn't really drink to get drunk. Because it took a lot to get her there. Or something not quite normal about the drink. Yay for Slayer regeneration pushing the toxins out of the body! Or something. She suspected it would be nice to get drunk and forget things a while. Of course, if she did then something might try to kill people and she wouldn't be there to protect them so maybe it was for the best. Though it did mean she could eat whatever she wanted and not worry about her figure so it was good for something.
"I think you can order some of those Hot Sauces off Hot Ones. I just never really wanted to try them after watching some of those folks. I'm the one that gets food Medium at the Thai place. Hot is far too much for me."
- Spider-Man has posed:
Peter perked up at her question. "Charlie Harper, he's played by Charlie Sheen. The show is about Charlie taking in his brother, a single dad who's a bit of a mess. It's pretty funny, one of those classic sitcoms where things just spiral out of control. Chuck Lorre created it, and when Sheen is on point, he's hilarious."
He watched as she took a sip of her beer, pleasantly surprised by her reaction. "Glad you like it. It's nice to kick back with something that tastes good."
When she mentioned the Hot Ones sauces, he nodded in understanding. "Yeah, I get that. I'm not really into the crazy hot stuff either. Medium is where it's at for me, too. I like flavor more than pain. Besides, why suffer when you can enjoy the food, right?"
He leaned back, feeling more at ease as they settled into their conversation. "But if you ever want to try those sauces, we could do it together?"
"Okay, let's see if I can get this episode going." It started with Charlie Sheen being promised sex by an apparent girlfriend, only to be phoned by his brother Alan, who had separated from his wife and asked if he could stay at Charlie's. Thinking they had time, Charlie and the girl tried to start, only for Alan to open Charlie's bedroom door, and explain that he might have blocked her car in if she's not staying.
