Date of Scene: | 29 June 2024 |
Location: | Shaw Studios, Lower East Side |
Synopsis: | Lucifer pays Wade Shaw a visit to talk about recent events, and certain dangers, and wing sprouting and...well..it became quite the informational conversation. |
Cast of Characters: | Lucifer, Phantasm (Drago), Sinister
|
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer has come to Wade Shaw's office dressed a bit 'down' from his usual, but still wearing dress slacks, a nice shirt and a blazer. When one is visiting on 'official' business, one must play the part to some degree. Of course Larry and Gary are met with smiles, and Lucifer even takes the time to ask them both a few questions about their personal lives while he waits for them to allow him further access to the building. Likely by way of pressing in security codes or waving pass cards to open doors and access elevators. He knows where he's going, and he has his own ways of traveling, but there is also respect for the business - and for security measures - so he always comes in the front door.
All of this to finally reach the personal office of Wade Shaw, and Lucifer knocks on the door in his 'Shave and a Haircut' bit before opening the door to walk in. A glance around to - perhaps - see if Shaw has company, but otherwise it's a broad grin and an outstretched hand as he approaches. "Good to see you as always, Wade. Thank you so much for agreeing to meet me. How have things been?"
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
While the day itself had not been slow. The time in which Lucifer swings by is at one of the lighter points of the schedule. This means, actual time for Wade to sit in his office to do the more stationary things. As for what the man was doing, one can assume. With the advanced warning of the unscheduled visitor, Wade has already gotten to a stopping point. The lock screen on his laptop flashes on, just as the door is knocked upon.
The chair rolls back as Wade gets up to greet the incoming visitor. "Lucifer!" The voice calls out warmly, gesturing over to the futon set to a sofa position. "Make yourself comfortable. I am doing well. And how about you? How did the event turn out?"
- Lucifer has posed:
"Thank you." Lucifer offers this and moves to sit on the sofaton, shifting just so to - indeed - make himself comfortable. "I'm doing alright. The event was a success, with a few new faces amongst the crowd. Plenty of funds raised for both organizations. Indeed, a rolling success." He offers at least this much before giving just another shift, perhaps because he's got one thing on his mind. "There was, however, an incident that I am not sure whether or not you've been made aware of." Beginning with this as he sets his gaze to the main pointedly, just to keep his attention.
"After a few sets, when Mister Drago had come in to play the drums, apparently we were visited by a....deranged fan? I suppose? Kid tried to crash the stage, yelling out about how Poe was back and was their favorite performer, phone on recording live, and yelling that a full on comeback was possible." This is what likely makes Lucifer uncomfortable. He truly does not like it when people are somehow able to breech his security measures. "Luckily, security was quick to apprehend the person and remove them from the premises...but I suspect something like that could be...traumatizing isn't really the word I want to use. Scary perhaps? Upsetting? Anyway... I've come to make a possible monetary compensation offer to Nick for the upset. I know money isn't truly the best bandage in the world to use, but it's what I have to offer..."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
As Lucifer sits, Wade takes his seat as well, giving Lucifer a curious look while gesturing over to the small fridge behind Wade to give the silent but standard inquiry. Would Lucifer like a drink? For the previous stops before, the club owner surely knows what the types of drink are available in the the office. Most of the selection tailored for the musical clientele that frequent the studio.
The smile remains as Lucifer starts off with the good news. But as the word 'incident' pops up, the smile fades and the manager stills, listening intently to what Lucifer describes.
When the stage crashing portion is reached. Wade's shoulders lower slightly as he exhales a breath that had been held for who knows how long. "...Ah. Okay."
He leans back in his seat, "I assume save for the phone they didn't actually have any weapons on them." The manager presumes, giving a questioning look to Lucifer as if wanting confirmation. "Or anything that could be conveyed as an intent to do harm?"
Fingers tap upon the chair arm. "...Although, that they could identify Nick simply by his drumming style is scarily impressive."
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer asks for a well known soda name as he's sure Wade likely has stock in the company given how popular the brand is with most musicians. Performers and such. Then they're on to the nitty grit of why Lucifer has come calling. To the first spoken question, Lucifer shakes his head. "I do not think there was intent to harm, no. No weapons were pulled, nor found after they were apprehended. If there had been, I'd of been giving a lot more scruitny over my actual security system as a whole." Cause it should detect things like that.
Should being a key word.
"It's very likely this person is a potential stalker of Nick. And somehow - yes - pieced together that at some point Nick played as Poe. I don't know if he was ever, perhaps, even a semi-permanant member of the band or just a fill in at times. But this person was good. I'm sure the authorities are having a field day with them." Stupid SHIELD people and having to go 'by the book'. Ah well.
"I simply cannot express to either you or Nick how apologetic I am that this happened in the first place. There's never really a way to tell if someone coming in is a super fan or a stalker or some such... but I'd like to think I took every precaution to keep all the entertainment and guests alike as safe as I possibly could. Can." He repeats this from another conversation with William and then motions. "But, again, it was an unexpected hiccup, and I'm sure it caused a lot of distress which I know money can't truly fix...but it sounds nice in my own head. To offer such."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
No sooner than the soda's requested, the chair spins as Wade turns to the small fridge, pulling out two cans of the stuff. One can is handed over to Lucifer, while the second is set in front of him.
A nod is given to the confirmation of no weapons being found. The mention of potential stalker gets an additional nod as he takes a breath. "I believe it is very well a cat out of the bag situation at least when it comes to you. Also now that there's a potential stalker situation involved...Yes. Nick is Poe. Poe was a stand in player to help them complete their tour when O'bri left. Which makes identifying him as Poe all the more impressive. Nothing but live performances."
"The way I see it...It appears your security did what it was supposed to do." Wade allows, "No weapons allowed in. And honestly unless you are a mind reader and have a habit of reading everyone you see, the likely hood of you knowing this was going to happen ahead of time is very minimal. When a threat presented itself, your security neutralized it and no harm came to Nick. Otherwise, I suspect we'd be having this conversation at a different location. So, you met your side of the agreement that we entered into and you are under no contractual obligation to provide more compensation than what was already given based from the incident described. Nor do I think Nick would agree to such a thing."
Wade leans forward, folding his hands upon the desktop, "Now. I get that the phrase 'The Devil Made Me Do It' gets used a lot but I think as level minded business men we can easily agree that what they did. Is not your fault."
Wade fixes a pointed look to the club owner for a few more moments before he sighs and reaches over to a drawer to pull out a folder. Opening it up, he pulls out a printout which looks... amazingly like a check list. A pen is grabbed and a few boxes are checked off. "...I assume you have a name and a picture of the potential stalker that could be shared with us."
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer pops open the soda to take a sip and then sets it on the table in front of him - coaster and all. He listens to Wade fully, giving a nod of his head. "William said the same thing, honestly. Maybe it's just me trying to fix my own guilty conscience even tho you're all right. I couldn't have seen this coming. The only person who really could have is Nathaniel, but he was so caught up in the moment and there were a LOT of minds to block, I understand that he missed any clues to it."
Of course Nick wouldn't accept compensation. He's a good guy like that. Not to mention family. Literally. So he's not going to touch on that again. At least not yet. Instead it comes down to Wade pulling out a check list and asking for information that can be shared. "Yes. It's a female. Her name is Leigh Goodsman. She's about twenty-seven years old. Local resident..." Then he uses his phone to send off a quick email. "I'll have her photo and mugshots sent over to you via email..." He offers this. "Anything else you need to know?"
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Of course he did." Wade responds, "William's probably the one of the most level headed managers you could work with. Looks aside, he acts like a seasoned veteran in the industry."
There's a bit more writing more boxes checked. "You mentioned, recording live. Any idea to where? Was she alone? Police reports made?"
There's a pause as Wade looks over to Lucifer in consideration. "Nathaniel can..."
...
"...Just how much do you know of Nick's situations with unwanted attention?"
- Lucifer has posed:
"Probably as much as I should know...but if you ask me specifics at this very moment I wouldn't be able to recall much. If I recall, some of the situations is what's sort of led him to live in that closet of an apartment. He does the whole down sizing his outfits to not stand out if he goes into public on a random day. I would suspect it's about as normal as any other celebrity out there." Lucifer says this much but then he shrugs. "Nathaniel's a telepath. A very strong one. But put him into a crowd of people and that ability has to be tampered down or he'll get a tremendous headache." Or something along those lines of bullshit excuses perhaps.
"I believe she was on Facebook, but it also could have been Instagram. I'm not entirely sure. I'll have the police send you the report made as well so you can have all the information. Since you're Nick's manager - I'm sure they won't mind." He offers this much and then reaches for the can so he can take another drink from it. "Should I be...concerned...about the unwanted attentions Nick has garnered over his career?"
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
To the mention of it being normal as any other celebrity, Wade shakes his head. "Normal stalkers don't use explosives to blow holes into the walls of condos or homeless shelters." Wade responds, "and they don't do such things in teams."
The other can that was set before Wade gets opened, causing a pause in the manager's explanation as he takes a sip. Setting the can down. He sighs.
"Depends...Nick mentioned that you might be related to him. Is that true?"
- Lucifer has posed:
"Ah. Yes. Nick has mentioned some of these things from his past. I believe there have even been instances against him while he's out in public. Poor lad. Sometimes I want to just tell him to come live in the club permanately. Not much can slip past my security..." Lucifer says this much and then he sighs because something - or someone - did slip past. Caused a scene. At least no one was hurt.
This time.
At the last question that Wade asks, Lucifer glances over and gives a single nod of his head. "It is true. Not directly related, but in the ways of the angelic world, he's likely a twentieth cousin ten times removed or something.... but yes... there is relation there. Genetics prove it at the very least. And even if it's not some direct line... he's family enough to me just by being someone I've come to care about quite a lot."
- Sinister has posed:
And this is the point where the door just opens and in the frame stands Nathaniel Essex. There's security right? There is. And there are cameras. And other things to alert people of intrusion, but not a single one of them triggered and now he's stood there.
"Darling..." he clucks his tongue at Lucifer, a tsk of sound as the door just closes behind him and locks itself.
"...Nick has approximately two percent of his DNA being celestial, which makes for no nevermind except that it's a significant amount, given the human genome." He informs that, walking from the door with his hands tucking into the small of his back. "What -else- did I miss?"
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Right." Wade sighs. "Well, he's starting to warm up to coming back to the condo more at least." There's been improvements made to the condo since the apparently less than legit DHS raid. Some visible. Others...not so much.
"Honestly I'd gladly take the stage rusher at the Lux over the other stuff any day. But... I wouldn't say Nick's career caused for his biggest problem. It just made it a little more difficult to deal with. As for the f-"
Wade stops immediately as the door opens up, turning his head the extra few degrees to look over to the tall figure in the doorway. Now past the doorway.
Once the door locks. Wade looks to Nathaniel for a few clicks. And accusing look is given to the phone and then the attention shifts back to the doctor. "How did y-?"
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer is nodding his head and listening to Wade but then he notices how the man stops in his thought. It's then that he's well aware of Nathaniel's presence, his own head turning in a slow manner to regard the man standing at the door. "Nathaniel..." He offers this, and he smirks, before looking back over to Wade again.
"Sometimes there are questions that are better not to ask." Offering this at the partial question Wade attempts to ask before his attention returns to Nathaniel proper. "Not much. I came here to let Wade know what happened at the benefit. Offered monetary compensation for Nick, who likely won't take it even if I cut a check directly to him. Then we started talking about security and how much I do or don't know about Nick's past." He may be omitting some things, but Nathaniel will know them whether Lucifer says them aloud or not.
"And now you're all caught up. Come. Sit. I'm sure if you'd like a drink Wade will offer you one. Once he's caught his tongue again anyway..."
- Sinister has posed:
"Telepath," Sinister replies, to the not-finished inquiry. "Contextually, people see what the mind perceives. If the mind does not want to focus on what it has trouble perceiving as there, you can walk straight past a person. Plus, your cameras are quite polite -- Also technopath. I can talk to technology." And a few other things, besides. "Also telekinetic. I'm an entire damn remote receiving dish and projection screen--" he taps his head, then settles with a brief smooth of his coat tails, on another seat, beside Lucifer.
"I do apologise for not catching the intent on the night, I was at the time coordinating an entire club of AI, reading the intention of most of the performers that were scrabbling and trying not to get a migraine."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Blink. Blink.
How does Nick keep finding these people? Is there some type of force that just STEERS him to this?
Shaking his head, Wade gives up on the one conundrum. But with the answer given, Wade supposes he can forgive security for this one... it's going to be hard to find others so willing to engage in a losing battle against a mind controlled Iron Fist as those guys. And they did save his life w-
Drinks first.
"Right." Wade glances back up to Nathaniel, "What would you like to drink? And...Not holding the not catching the thoughts of others thing against you. Your security still did its job."
- Lucifer has posed:
"Another reason why my money is no good to compensate for such. Nothing actually really happened that was devestating. William's of the mind that the press might actually be good for the band. I'm not sure how Nick feels about it on a personal level. I haven't managed to catch him since the event yet." Lucifer admits this much and then reaches for his soda, taking another long drink of it.
"Speaking of which, and to just have it out while we're here. How is Nick's schedule looking for the next - oh - five or six months? Any way I might be able to get him on some sort of every other weekend schedule for a little bit? Garner my club some reliable entertainment?"
- Sinister has posed:
"Oh, water would be lovely, unless you have tea? Steeped, with lemon, no sugar. No milk." Because he apparently expects such english things in the middle of a studio in new york? Maybe there's the expectation of people having people that do these kinds of things.
"If not, water is fine."
Consideration is given though, a thorough amount given that there's actually a mild frown over the bridge of Nathaniel's nose. "You know..." he muses "...that woman that actually got through, deciphered who he was and gave all this unexpected press on social media... she has quite the skill of perception."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade nodes listening to Sinister's request and turns around, opening up the small fridge to pull out a well chilled bottle of water. The container is offered over to Sinister, before he pulls out his phone, typing in the tea order. "The tea may take a few minutes." He mentions.
To the mention of the fan, he nods. "It is impressive considering Poe never sang so it would have to have been based off of his movements and playing style. And I don't believe there was any officially recorded footage of him playing with them." Fan made Youtube clips on the other hand... probably a few. "To add to that, save for the Carnegie Hall performance, the other appearances were mainly overseas."
He's forgotten something.
What was it?
As for the request for appearances in the next five or six months, Wade frowns. "There's probably going to be some conflicts but I can pull out the dates that are not likely to be spoken for." He allows, "Weekend dates only?"
Something important.
- Lucifer has posed:
"If Nick is comfortable playing to a smaller crowd, we could throw in a few Wednesdays in as well. But I also don't want to fill up his calendar too much. So a nice balance - mostly weekends." Lucifer says this much, and he's confident Wade will be able to work out a well balanced schedule with those parameters. As Wade then goes into how it's impressive that Poe was even found out, Lucifer gives a slight shrug of his shoulders. "People can piece together amazing things, I've found. This one is smart - in some ways. Needs a little street smarts taught to them tho..."
He gives a glance to Nathaniel then before raising a brow. "You think that her skill at perception is a bit...too good? At least for human standards?" Like maybe she has super powers or mutant powers or something. It wouldn't be the first time that's been figured out about some people in their lives. Nick not included.
- Sinister has posed:
"That I don't know, I haven't had a go at her," Sinister replies, with a light shrug to the devil and an incline of his head to Wade. The water is taken, cracked and sipped upon. He looks to both men for a moment, then clears his throat. "I might recommend though, hiring the woman to analyse. Like hackers, that degree of observation skill is invaluable for perceptive security."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade shakes his head. "Could just be a percussionist herself." Wade replies, "If you spend a lot of time practicing something you're more likely to spot certain techniques. Generally people tend to get some form of inspiration from someone playing a similar instrument. What do they do the same. What do they do differently... How do they play to the audience..."
The studio owner sits back in his chair. "Some musicians get a sort of tunnel vision where their focus is set so much on learning how to get better on certain things that other aspects...like street smarts-" He gives a nod to Lucifer in credit to that comment, "-gets neglected."
- Lucifer has posed:
"Lucky for you Nick seems to have both. And in no small amounts on either end of the candle." Lucifer offers this and then he gives a single shoulder shrug. "Well. I think I've done all I can while here..." He then pulls out an envelope and stands to take the short steps needed to toss it onto Wade's desk. "There's a couple grand in there. Buy Nick something nice that he may appreciate or something... give him some free studio time. I don't know..." Just help ease Lucifer's guilty conscience cause it will eat at him otherwise.
He does sit back down for a moment. If for nothing else but to finish his drink and let Wade catch up on his thoughts. "Were you planning on telling me anything of Nick's escapades with dangerous situations or were you just asking to see what I knew? Also, were you just curious about his actual relation to me? I feel like that may have been a topic you got..." He grins at Nathaniel. "Interrupted on."
- Sinister has posed:
Sinister considers the words, then shrugs slightly. He can't fault the logic at any rate, instrumentation not being his forte, he's nevertheless studied surgical techniques and just how specific individuals performed -- and ended up being a gold standard for some things that nobody will ever be brave enough to emmulate. Only mad enough. There's plenty of THAT about.
He smiles crookedly and locks his lips with an imaginary key, slipping it into a breast pocket he does not possess, raising his bottle thereafter. Pinky goes up. One must sip with standards.
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade snerks to the mention of Nick being balanced in both areas. "Perhaps. But he's got blindspots in other areas, which left unchecked could interfere with what he has going right."
As the envelope hits the desk, Wade glances to it but doesn't reach over to inspect the contents or count it. He didn't ask for the money so there's really no point to any embelishing to the contents.
Also Lucifer doesn't lie.
That said if it was involved with something contractual he'd still be obligated to count it. Procedures and what not. To the mention of giving Nick free studio time, he cracks a smile. Nick's never charged for studio time. The studio's practically half Nick's anyways.
"If you are so insistent, have you considered just making an additional donation to a charity Nick likes instead?"
The reminder to what was being asked prior to Nathaniel's arrival causes for Wade to blink.
Oh right.
"Noting the relationship. A bit of all of the above." Wade answers, bring a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose as he tries to recall where he left off.
...
...
How to make this quick.
"Okay so Nick's main problem with unwanted attention doesn't come from a single fan but more with an organization. I don't know the name of the organization. But an agent from SHIELD was helpful enough to link an attempt on my life, and the death of his mother to them. And around the time of the attempt there was one on others who knew Nick...his psychiatrist and being his aunt vanished around that time, I suspect his aunt was a target as well." He tilts his head, "Which is why I asked if you were family. They don't seem all that concerned with wiping out familial connections. Or at least trying to."
- Lucifer has posed:
"I suspect the SHIELD agent you're referring to is either Clint Barton or Bucky Barnes." Lucifer says, giving a smirk. "We know them. Also Thor, Tony Stark, Loki - though he's more a thorn in their side I believe - ah... Pepper Potts... I... could go on. And that's just from SHIELD's end. We're also friends of Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Bruce Wayne, Joker, Harley Quinn...." He then just grins. "I think you catch what I'm tossing. And even then... I would destroy all of them. And any who come against them... if a threat was made to Nick. Doesn't matter who. Doesn't matter why. I don't give two shits. You don't fuck with my family."
Not after it's taken him so long to build it and have it hold firm.
Then there's a shrug. "Buy him something nice and I'll make the equitable portion to match what I gave each member of Five Times Novel to his favorite charity. Or the center he hangs out at in New York. Or is that one in Gotham? I forget..." Picking up his soda, he drains the remainder of the contents and then the can is crushed into oblivion and fed to the abyss of gods only know where. "So. You'll contact me with a schedule and a price soon, yes?"
- Sinister has posed:
Sinister's gaze slants sidelong over his cheek to Lucifer as the devil starts a'talking, naming names, brushing Meta-elbows and the like. There's a faint little twitch of smile at the end of it and he looks down at his bottle for a moment, then up beneath brows to Wade.
"You don't want to know my half of that equasion. But..." he gestures with the bottle to the archangel "...as the Lightbringer said."
The devil is fond of his brood.
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade blinks. "...James Barnes." He confirms, pausing as Lucifer lists those he knows and would be willing to destroy in order to protect Nick. And then Nathaniel does a ditto to the statement. Although what a couple of reporters on the list were doing, Wade's not sure. Is Bad press really a 'destroy the reporter' type of thing?
Either way the assurances given, combined with the one given by Barnes is quite helpful. He gets that Nick has powers, and... now he can tag celestial on that (Although he's not even sure what that even means in the equation) but, if Nick can just surround himself with others that can keep watch over him without triggering the 'running away' mindset, that'd work great.
With the amount not taken back and Lucifer's insistence to get Nick something 'nice' he relents. "Alright." Wade allows, "I'll find something to put it towards. And yes. I'll get you a list of available dates to pick from once I have a chance to look them up."
There's a knock at the door as Sinister's tea arrives.
Whelp. No more talk of the unnamed organization causing trouble it seems.
- Lucifer has posed:
That list given was more just to show how connected they are to people Nick knows. Lucifer doesn't actually think half the ones on that list would intend to harm Nick in any sort of way. Threats, however, are real - and should one come Nick's way - Lucifer and Sinister would do all they could to make sure Nick was safe. That's all the Devil meant to imply.
Nathaniel's tea finally arrives.
Lucifer shifts to sit back down next to Nathaniel, leaning back some to cross one leg over the other. Relaxing. Cause he can. "So. Anything else new?"
- Sinister has posed:
"Aaah, the precious nectar of life!" Both hands reach up as if t'were manna from heaven and extend toward the assistant that brought it up, a smile and a polite incline of the head following it. "Thank you," it is brought forth and so what if it came from a tea-bag? Or the corner store? It is what it is.
He sips.
"You know, even when it's not an english cup, it's still visceral..." he murmurs over the rim, frowning faintly as he listens.
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade drifts off to silence as someone unlocks the door to let the tea bringer in. As Sinister thanks the employee, they shake their head, give their your welcomes and make their leave.
Wade waits a few moments as the door paps shut, leaving the trio in the office.
A copy of the checklist Wade had pulled out earlier is produced, offering it over to Lucifer. He has a general sense that the club owner might forget 'the boring stuff' otherwise.
"Well we discussed the fan at the event, a brief mention of one of Nick's other attention problems, and the potential for scheduling for future dates." Wade summarizes. "...As for potential conflicts. There have been a few offers given. I'll be presenting those to Nick later tonight."
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer takes the copy from Wade, thanking him softly, and then he tri-folds the paper and...realizes he doesn't really have an inner pocket to place it in. So he holds onto it - perhaps a little awkwardly - but there you go. "We did. I think we ticked all the things I came to discuss. You'll get those files from the police hopefully shortly if you haven't gotten them already." He offers this and then glances to Nathaniel. "Were your ears ringing or something and that's why you popped in? I'm just...generally curious."
- Sinister has posed:
"Something like that, yes. I was in the area and well..." Sinister shrugs, glancing at the paper then proffering his hand to take it. He opens it, if given it and scans the document. Where Lucifer might skimp the boring, Essex does not. It's part of his credo. And HE can tuck it into his waistcoat pocket.
"Drifts of conversation thoughts, the instant replay and -someone- mentioned I was a telepath. I then just had to find out why that was being shared and with whom, exactly." He glances to Wade, intimates a wink that doesn't actually land fully.
"Speaking of other attention problems, there might be an issue with belated wing erruption."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
When Sinister lists his reasons for swinging by. Most notably that someone was talking about him, he looks over to Lucifer for a moment before looking back to the doctor. "To be fair, if someone mentions that, of course you tend to ask follow up questions. Although considering the amount of 'revelations' going on for the past few years. It's probably not landing as hard as it would have 5 years prior."
And yet despite that, Wade blinks to the last statement. What in the actual f-? That doesn't sound like a pleasant thing. "What do you mean by... Wing erruption?"
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer smirks. "I think, if you had done just a tiny more digging, you would have known precisely where I was and then could surmize whom I was talking to. I think you were just a curious little mouse itching to crawl up my pant leg." It's a dig, and a tease, but in that sort of loving way they have with each other. At least, that's how Lucifer intended it.
Though when Sinister brings up the belated wing eruption - and in front of mixed company to boot - he gives a blink or two. "Yes. I must mimic Wade's question there. Are we talking about the recent ever so delicate and yet not so painless wing eruption that came from you...what was it...a week or so ago?"
- Sinister has posed:
"Oh, but then I'd have discombobulated you and you might have ended up talking about sparkly bananas. So mouse it is..." Sin winks to Lucifer's tease, then pauses his train of thought to look between the two men. "Well, I will observe that -my- wing erruption -may- have something to do with the fact that you're not just an angel, Lucifer. You're Seraphim, I think there might be a gift with purchase involved there. -But-... my DNA quotient has inched up, but it's still only about one percent celestial. As I noted -- Nick has at least two percent. Neanderthal DNA makes up -less- than that in the human genome and yet it's responsible for almost all immune response, lupus, and the ability to have robust white blood cell antibody retention. So." He shrugs, looking between the men.
"What Nick is, is significant -- the portions of him that make up the whole are a unique cocktail, but celestial DNA is considerably stronger than neanderthal, just to put it in perspective."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
With Lucifer mentioning that Sinister gained wings, the Manager's eyes seem to be fixating on an area just behind Sinister. Seeing if he can spot them.
As Sinister goes over the numbers, pointing out that Nick had about twice as much celestial than him, the search is called off as Wade's glance adjusts to look to the doctor's face. "...are you saying one day Nick might just pop out some wings?"
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer ah's and nods his head. "It's a theory. I believe Nathaniel is trying to work out the probability. We think that..." He pauses. Does Wade know all there is to know about Nick? Surely he does. There's a frown however as he contemplates. "...I know you're close to Nick. But...you do know....a lot about him? Like how he might be...a bit different...from the average...." He waves fingers through the air. "Mortal?"
- Sinister has posed:
"Yes." Blunt, to the point, occasionally tact is just ridiculous and so SInister doesn't adhere to it. But the regard has him giving a very slight cheek-tick of a wince and with a roll of his neck.... FWOOSH -- pale, transluscent, long-fingered bat wings, with thier dew claws, lift up and slowly mantle. Behold.
"Mine were feathered. That's a whole other story." They fold back again, their palid delicacy once more folded flush and almost cloak-like at his back.
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade sighs, leaning back in his seat. "I know his childhood did a number on him which is why he was undergoing therapy. I know the meds that he was generally cycled through when dealing with his sleep issues. I know his tendency to run from problems instead of facing them.
But as for the powers thing... that didn't get a consideration until Barnes cited that as a potential reason that organization would be interested in him, well, along with the father connection... Then there was the mention about vampire hunting. And then there was that time I came to the dressing room to find him GLOWING and Passed out.."
Wade pauses, "It would be safe to assume you and SHIELD might know more about Nick's abilities than I do." He admits. "But...I'm learning to roll with it. So..."
He claps his hands together before lifting them up in an Oh well manner. "Might as well let me know what to expect."
Seeing the bat wings come out, Wade's hands lower...
"Huh." The manager leans forward, looking to the claws. "...Okay. Were there any warning signs before those popped out? Did that hurt? And if so, what did you take for the pain?"
- Lucifer has posed:
"Nick does have...abilities. Very specific ones. If I'm correct in remembering, Nathaniel believes that these abilities he is already working on will supercede any wing popping out of him." Lucifer begins. "But...yes...it is a very painful experience. If only because the wings are very really coming out of your body. We just don't know when or even if Nick will have wings that pop out at some point." Which likely isn't the most reassuring thing to be told, but there it is.
- Sinister has posed:
"Yes, it hurt, I did not take anything for the pain -- I'm ... complicated like that. But yes, there were warning signs. It's the second time they've popped out for me, I cut them off. That didn't stick --" Sinister isn't helping either, most likely. "--it feels like ... your skin is too tight for your body and there's itching. Worse when they're feathered. This time, these grew in an kind of cyst sac and were pushing through. Lucifer released them and they did the rest. It hurts for me, every time. But it's fleeting -- like being shot."
Pause. "Wait, no that's probably -not- the best thing to say. Ahhh..." he glances at Lucifer, then sighs slightly "...no, it's like being shot. Fleeting, burning, gone. At least for me. I might have been shot a few times."
There's another pause. "And set on fire. Actually having your face half incinerated off is strangely numbing after a few seconds. I did get exploded once, but that didn't stick. Lucky grenade."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade nods to the general summary. Despite Lucifer's efforts to reassure. 'Might not' isn't the same as 'Will not'. As for the description to the type of pain, he frowns. What if it DOES happen and it's over at that apartment of his and he's by himself?
What if it happens on tour or filming?
His head's flooding, trying to think of possible contingency plans for avoiding this from occurring int he public eye. Sure any press is good press but there are just some things you don't need a video of. Maybe he should look into some remote real estate. Could be an investment property but if shit hits the fan, could also work for a quiet place to reco-
No. He's getting ahead of himself.
"Supposing this did happen to Nick. What would you recommend for the pain. And how long would you expect recovery time to be?"
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer thinks on it. Doesn't it depend? For him it was just... a thing. Think and they become. Think again and they go away. For ones like Sinister, they come and go with pain. But Sinister can make himself not feel pain. So Lucifer has no idea. "If it happens. Call me. No matter when or where. My honest answer is that I do not know. I've never had to think about it in that regard. But...." He pauses a moment and then stands and walks to a bit more open space in the office.
"Actually..." In an instant his own wings unfurl. They're white and brilliant - which makes people wonder how he's so evil with wings like that. Pulling one of the wings towards him, he braces and plucks a feather from his main plumage. "Here..." Approaching Wade's desk, he offers the feather over. "Hand him this. It should heal him...and make the pain of the moment go away. Plus you call me... for reasons."
- Sinister has posed:
"He's had shrapnel damage in the past -- I'd put it at probably as painful as that, given that it's from the back. Not much consolation, but..." -- with the unfurling of the wings, Sinister has to firmly refold his own, when they apparently want to flare. That still happens. -- "...and he needs to focus on the feather for it to work. Just handing it to him might just make it sit in his hand being pretty but generally useless."
He watches Wade silently though, for a few. The churning thoughts that hop the rail and slip back into the shadow, have him tilting his head slightly.
"Maybe a cabin in the Hamptons?"
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade nods to the instruction, head tilt pausing as the wings come out. Wade stares. Not in horror but-
Well look at them.
There's just so much contrast between the two sets of wings shown today.
Wow.
Lucifer's approach to the desk doesn't take long. The office was just big enough to be comfortable. But even with the approach being quite visible and quick, it takes a moment for Wade to process the feather being held out to him. He reaches his hand out, carefully taking the offered item closer to look to it. How can something so small do what Lucifer promises?
Well, he has no reason to lie about this.
Sinister's volunteering of past injuriy inflicted upon Nick causes for Wade's eyes to widen. "Shrapnel? When did that happen?!" He seemed fine after the attack on the condo. Wouldn't Barnes have made mention of it if it had occurred around the time he came by? "How?"
The general concern coming from that revelation causes for him not to respond to the cabin suggestion.
Verbally.
Although, it might get filed away for later as an option. He figured the Adirondacks might be a good option.
- Lucifer has posed:
Seems like some things are better left unsaid. Wade is learning a LOT today and that may not be a good thing. It also isn't really a bad thing either. Just. A lot. Poor guy.
"Yes. Focus on the feather. I think he's used one before, or seen one used. I can't remember which." Things blur together. Time is a construct Lucifer hasn't quite conquered yet. Aside from a long time ago, a little while ago and now. That's about it.
He glances over to Nathaniel then. Shrapnel? Was he around for that one? "I mean, of all the things Nick has encountered via us... shrapnel's a bad one. Bug guts might be a close...second? Third?"
- Sinister has posed:
"Well, he didn't get injured on the bug guts, that was all on the bug. You exploded it from the inside rather well..." Sinister watches the reaction to Luci's wings, closes his eyes for a few long moments, then with a fwip of sound, his own are gone and he's rolling each shoulder. He gazes out again, though apparently through half-lidded regard. In its own way, it's nice to know it's not just him that gets mildly overawed by huge and shining bright.
"I think the shrapnel though, came from when a door exploded? At the homeless shelter he volunteers at. Tied in with the other things. He got treated for it, but I know that kind of injury when I see it."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade reaches the feather holding hand over to a drawer to drop it in there. Probably better he not be holding on to that when that headache starts coming back.
Christ.
That kid either has the best or worst kind of luck there is. The worst because that is a lot of shit to be going through. The best because he's still breathing. And he still apparently has a career even after disappearing for a couple years. Even if Wade has to allow possible cushion times in the schedule for potential wing explosions now.
"Ok so, I take it the shrapnel thing was awhile back." Wade allows.
- Lucifer has posed:
"Long enough it's likely just a bad memory in his mind now. He still goes and volunteers there like nothing ever happened." Lucifer offers this as he steps back, his wings folding back and disappearing from whence they came. He shifts to sit next to Nathaniel once more and then smiles. "Would you mind if I have another soda?" Since they're going to be here a bit longer it seems. He's not drinking alcohol and he's being on his bestest behavior and not smoking either.
Two things which may just kill him in the long run. Or more so, the lack of alcohol and tobacco in his system may kill him.
"Okay but the bug gut incident was kinda funny - even if it was also gross." Admitting that with a chuckle before he looks between the other two men. Wondering if there is more to discuss.
- Sinister has posed:
"It was, yes..." the water was recapped and the tea, the tea is now reclaimed, lifted and sipped once more, the preciousness. There's a nod to add to the affirmation and as Lucifer settles once again and requests the soda, he shuffles just enough to make room and not enough that they're not going to be right up close and personal.
There is a wry laugh. "You needed cheering up. Sometimes, that involves messy violence that is amusing in its own right..." he concedes, observes and otherwise. He looks back to the over-informed Wade now, lifting the tea in a silent 'cheers' and also 'I'm good' before he offers another drink to be a good host. "Was there anything else you're curious to know, Wade? Given the whole expose of things today."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade nods. Ok. So probably between the starting to call again and the visiting stage. To Lucifer's request Wade nods. "Oh sure." He replies, glancing over to get the look from Sinister before spinning round in his chair to get another can of soda for the devil.
As he spins back around to offer the can over, he considerins Sinister's question.
"Do I want to know about the bug gut incident?" Wade wonders aloud, "...You've advised me to the fan at the event, but...well considering his luck- Are there any persons or groups you know of that might cause Nick problems? If so, any things out of the norm I'll have to factor in for contingency plans?"
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer gives a little grin as he accepts the new soda, popping the can open and taking a sip. "Oh. I was in a mood. Broody. Irritated. I think angry was even mixed in. Nothing was pulling me out of it. So Nathaniel went and found a giant ass bug in the sewage drain of one of the ponds in central park. Night time. No one around. I went and confronted the bug, got eaten by the bug, so I exploded the bug from the inside out. Nick was there. Hence. Bug guts."
Not like it was hard to explain. Just. Gross.
At that last question he shakes his head. "None that I - personally - am aware of. Not in any active sense. Nick may know more, or maybe the others who watch him know. We just... keep him safe when we can. He knows we're there whenever we're needed."
- Sinister has posed:
The tea is thoroughly sipped again, the cup rested upon his outside knee. Sinister looks across his nose to Lucifer as the information is shared, gross as it might be with another wry little chuckle. His nearest hand reaches out to touch knuckles to the devil's jaw, with another half-wink.
Wade becomes the focus after, with the tea ferried like a punctuation mark to lips between words. "Well, there's a few Traumas floating around, a thing that I don't know quite how to explain other than... the world remembers tragedies and sometimes, they can be catalyzed to become physical. They've been quiet lately, given I hunted a lot of them down with assistance." Inclining his head toward Lucifer at that.
"There's numerous groups that unfortunately don't like me much. Occasional fairies. Lucifer's siblings, though I don't think most of them are welcome at the moment..." he glances to the devil again.
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade frowns to the mention of Lucifer's siblings.
Other angels. And if Nick's hanging around with-
"Would you consider the siblings to be hostile or friendly towards Nick? Or the ...fairies?"
As for trauma... Maybe he should double check to see if Nick's needing help with continuing the therapy thing.
- Lucifer has posed:
"Most of my siblings like Nick well enough. There was just a recent...happenstance...that put a lot of sour between us. But given Nick's name, and his Catholic ties, and his ability to pull the power of Saints through some of his songs..." Lucifer offers all this before giving a shrug. "He's in better favor with most of them than they all are with me right now. Michael being the obvious exception to the rule." Then he takes in a breath and lets it out slowly.
"We're not trying to worry you or anything. These are just real threats that can come about when you are even friends with us. And Nick is absolutely family. Blood or not. We care about him a lot. And what I said before stands. No matter the threat. Or who it comes from. The protection of my closest will always be most important to me. That includes Nick."
- Sinister has posed:
"In my case, I'm just the in-law. I don't -think- any of them dislike me overtly, with the exception of that one that tried to kill me. Wait, no that was not just one ... Ok..." Sin frowns. "Just when I thought I had a handle on that one," sigh "...with the one exception, I think most of the Seraphim don't -dislike- me. I on the other hand, am angry with most of them."
For reasons.
"But Nick? With the Host, he's more or less the golden boy."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade's eyes don't widen any further. There's only so much one can do that. But the head is still capable of tilting as there's a mention of the power of saints. Are those useful against vampi-
There's the mention of Michael.
Ok yeah. Might be useful.
But still. Huh.
It sounds like the siblings won't be an issue...directly but, the usage of the term 'golden boy' fills him with a sense of wary. That's not always a good thing to be.
"So...currently, he's ok with them for the most part. " Wade assesses. The apology gets a nod, "Understood. I do appreciate getting whatever heads up I can get for what I might encounter later. At the very least I can get the surprise out of my system before when it maters. "
- Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer stands, taking his drink with him. "Well. I think we've unloaded a lot on you, Mr. Shaw and should likely leave you to contemplate several things - perhaps even your own relationship with us - and be about our merry to get a few other things done." Cause Lucifer's done what he came to do plus a lot more. Also, touching on his siblings as a topic is a bit...bleh...for him still.
- Sinister has posed:
"Yes. He is," Sin, not so much. The tea is finished, set down and he claims the bottle he was given. "Contemplate it all, I'm sure some of it will not digest all that well and we'll have to break it down a bit further. You have our number and know where we can be found, mister Shaw."
He inclines his head in a respect, but doesn't bow further.
"Do have a good rest of your day."
- Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Wade nods as the pair start to make their leave.. "I'll do my best to. You two do so as well."
