|History=Born into abject poverty amongst the downtrodden of New York, Michael had a roof over his head and abusive parents, but little else. Public school didn't agree with him, so his mother tried to home school; a fact that his father resented since it meant less alone time at home, and in general with his wife.<br><br>Eventually, his parents goaded each other into a fight that had objects being thrown around... and one of them hit Michael... or almost did, if the Darkforce hadn't been called and wrapped around him like armor. Freaked out and finally united in their fear of their son, the boy who would become Shadowlite took to the shadows of the world, wearing a mask and getting into the underworld via contacts from his fathers friends. Eventually, he landed a solid, steady paying gig as a highly paid transporter for a super-crew that had heard about his exploits in the gang world. The mob wasn't too happy about losing one of their better couriers... but after quickly vacating his apartment, how were they going to find him?<br><br>The ghosts (as they liked to call themselves) were interested in stealing from those who would not dare report the thefts... like Shadowlites former employer. Seeing the opportunity and the support it provided, Shadowlite and his new colleagues raided half the personal vaults of various mobs all over the countries, making new friends, contacts, and doing side gigs with contracts on occasion when the team was on the downlow. He learned a lot during this period, his quick learning and good memory making picking up the new skills along the way easy.<br><br>People suspected superhuman involvement, but the thoroughness of their clean up jobs made it so directly reading the memories of the crew would solve where the money went.<br><br>Eventually though, one of the team slipped up... bringing down a corrupt police force on the others, and superhuman mercenaries. Not having a clue where the others went, Shadowlite simply vanished into the night and laid low for about a year, going 'on vacation' and keeping low key as he assumed a new identity and waited for the heat to die down and his team to resurface. They never did.<br><br>With the beginnings of a network for an independent agent, Shadowlite decided to take his work a step further, investigating Darkforce related research... and found Dr. Henry Marksomov, a Russian scientist who had worked with previous Darkstars. Shadowlite wanted to get more out of his powers... and Henry wanted to live. Henry went to work with a dutiful Darkforce construct as his daily bodyguard, knowing that harming Shadowlite in any way meant the thing keeping him alive would smash him into a pulp. After weeks of trial and error, Shadowlite and Henry managed to isolate his unique frequency of Darkforce barrier crossings. Building a suit to take advantage of this knowledge, Shadowlite managed a suit that allowed him much easier control over both his own natural Darkforce power, and the portals he could create. With that act though, Henry had outlived his usefulnesss... yet Shadowlite kept his word.<br><br>Instead of killing the scientist, he destroyed the mans research, keeping a copy for himself, and hired a telepath to eliminate the memories of the time the Doctor has spent with the young man. He lived, and Shadowlite got what he wanted.<br><br>In the years since, Shadowlite has worked to build and maintain his network of contacts to allow himself to do as little work as possible, for as much gain as possible.
