Profile

A literal boy scout, Grant Washington used to be a great guy. An eagle scout, American patriot and even a soldier, he was born to be a hero. Until an enemy attack changed all that. Left mostly limbless, paralyzed and brain damaged he was rebuilt by a shady cybernetics firm that brainwashed him into doing their dirty work. Until someone there had a change of heart and try to free him from his conditioning only for it all to go horribly wrong. Washington went on a killing spree, destroying the lab where he was rebuilt. Personality completely changed he fled the country, going to South America, where he took over a mercenary company.

Description:

With his above average height and lean build Grant Washington looks very physically fit. His red hair is cropped close to his head and matches the short full beard he's got. Grant possesses a strong jaw on his symmetrical face and a thin, pointed nose. His blue eyes are slightly squinted beneath his red eyebrows.

Dressed for battle, Washington is clad in a close fitting coyote brown ballistic bump helmet with night vision goggles mounted on them. Over his torso he wears a matching plate carrier that packs plates on the front, back and both sides of his body. It's mounts pouches on it for spare magazines, an individual first aid kit, a combat knife and a few other odds and ends. Drop leg holsters on each leg carry Glock 21 pistols and extra ammunition for them. Coyote brown knee and elbow pads are in place on his extremities, matching his hard knuckled gloves and the boots his pant legs are tucked into. Beneath all of this gear is terrain appropriate camouflage.

On his back is a brown assault pack. It's got quite a bit of gear in it and the MOLLE webbing on it has a few items attached. There's a radio with a cord running to Washington's neck and from there to his ear. A hydration system's hose sticks out the top of the other side of the pack and runs to hang down on his chest. Finally, a tomahawk hangs from a kydex sheath on the side, in easy reach of the wearer's right hand.

History

History:

Grant Washington wasn't born bad. In fact, for most of his life he was a good guy. He got straight A's in school, was an Eagle Scout and was ranked nationally in wrestling. When he graduated high school he wanted to serve his country and joined the US Army as an Infantryman on a Ranger contract.

He did very well in the service. By the time he'd made staff sergeant he was a member of 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta, or Delta Force, and finished a bachelor's degree in history shortly after. After a few years he became an officer and stayed in the Special Operations community.

While on deployment to South America Grant was in a vehicle that was blown up and suffered a number of injuries that ended his military career and left him with brain damage, a broken spine and without three of his limbs, with only his left arm surviving. Going from one of the most capable warriors on the planet to nearly helpless drove Grant to thoughts of suicide until he was approached by a cybernetics firm called Phoenix Innovations.

They claimed to offer services that would help him, promising to make him better than he was before his injuries. They replaced his limbs, all four of them, put an implants in his brain to restore full functionality, rewired his nervous system and used nanotechnology to increase the density of his remaining bones. By the time it was all said and done Grant felt like a new man.

There was just one thing Phoenix Innovations didn't tell him. The implants in his brain were also capable of controlling his actions by altering his emotions and reducing his inhibitions, a sort of instant conditioning. And the tech company quickly tried to put it to use, offering him a contract to demolish one of their rivals and steal their secret findings. At first he scoffed at the idea, but then a financial reward was offered, Grant's greed increased and inhibitions lowered and soon the former soldier accepted.

With his new prowess and extensive training Grant blew through the rival's security, robbed them and destroyed the facility. When he returned to Phoenix Innovations he was given his money and was sent to perform more corporate terrorism against their rivals. After one attack one of his handlers at Phoenix had a change of conscience and tried to remove all of Grant's programming so that he could hopefully return to life as something other than a criminal. Something went wrong with the deprogramming and Grant became enraged.

He took Phoenix Industries building and personnel apart. By the time he was done there were only a handful of survivors, people smart enough to start running and not stop. Eventually he calmed down, but by then he'd been reported to the police and was a wanted man. Not just that, but he was left permanently changed mentally. Left with less inhibitions and little in the way of morality he was a vastly different person.

With his identity known to the authorities Grant fled to South America. It was there that he fell in with a mercenary company called Aguila Military Innovations. They had started out as a legal Private Military Corporation but after a number of scandals they became a fully criminal organization. With his newfound villainy, Grant fit right in.

With his military experience Grant was quickly promoted within Aguila. Once he was among the top leadership of the organization he killed the other leaders and assumed control of the company.

Personality:

Grant once used to be an all around good guy, believing in honor and duty above all else. Now, since his mind has been partially reprogrammed he's lost his sense of morality and many of his inhibitions. He's capable of great acts of evil and will do almost anything to satisfy the greed that fills his thoughts.

Abilities

Cyber-Enhancements:

Grant possesses four self repairing cybernetic limbs that push his capabilities beyond those of peak human. He can run nearly forty miles an hour, lift over a thousand pounds and leap horizontally about twenty feet. These limbs repair most damage they sustain in days where it might take normal people months to heal. Enough damage, the limbs being severed or crushed, would overpower their self repair facilities and force Grant to seek professional repairs, perhaps even from their original manufacturer.

His mind and nervous system have been augmented to where he can process things faster than any unpowered person. Grant's reactions are amazingly fast, letting him dodge attacks from multiple opponents at the same time or gun down several people before they can react. His brain being rewired has also made him perfectly ambidextrous.

Finally, Grant's bones have been increased in density to about one hundred and fifty percent the density they were before his cyber surgery. This is a necessity to prevent him from causing himself damage when using his cybernetic limbs to their utmost.

Skills

Eagle Scout:
Being an Eagle Scout requires one to be a leader among scouts, provide service to the community and to become proficient in a number of skills that are useful for many aspects of life. Some of these include cooking, camping, communications, emergency preparedness and environmental science.

Hand To Hand:
As a champion wrestler in high school and a Delta Force operator Grant is quite talented in hand to hand combat with knives, tomahawks or his bare hands. Before his injuries and cybernetic enhancements he could likely take on a fireteam of regular soldiers and come out on top. With his powers he's truly a force to be reckoned with.

Linguistics:
Part of being in Special Operations is learning foreign languages. Grant's fluent in English (his native tongue), Spanish, Farsi and Arabic.

Marksmanship:
Being a member of arguably the most elite military unit in the world, Grant was trained extensively with all manner of small arms. As a weapon's sergeant he learned how to handle and maintain not just small arms but mortars and artillery as well. With nearly any firearm he's had a chance to familiarize himself with Grant is a world class marksman. Recently, he's even begun to master the art of firing two pistols at the same time.

Military Training:
Grant has received training that includes advanced demolitions and breaching, combat life saver, airborne and air assault operations, SCUBA, advanced driving, VIP protection, land navigation and sniper school.

Stealth:
Between sniper school, espionage training and Delta Force instruction Grant can get around unnoticed under most conditions. He excels in woodland and mountainous regions, however, as that's where most of his training took place.

Tradecraft:

Part of Delta Force training is basic espionage. Things like dead drops, a method for secretly sharing information, and surveillance are taught to all potential operators.

Armory:
Grant has an extensive weapon collection. While he almost always carries Glock 20 pistols he rotates long arms regularly depending upon the mission. His preference is for medium machine guns to take advantage of his superior strength or for rifles with under barrel grenade launchers thanks to their flexibility. In addition to firearms he also has quite a few knives and tomahawks.

Contacts:
Working with criminals and corrupt governments has left Grant with quite a few people he can get in touch with to obtain all manner of goods and services, from transportation anywhere in the world to weapons.

Mercenary Company:
Aguila Military Innovations is a world class mercenary company that specializes in light infantry operations. Grant took control of it after murdering the former leadership. They maintain roughly company sized strength and their troops are all trained to at least the level of airborne infantry soldiers, though Grant has a handpicked squad that is a great deal more elite than their peers.

Osprey Squad soldiers are all personally trained by Grant himself and are regularly sent around the world for advanced training with the best instructors that can be found. They bring this training back to share with the rest of their squad before it's disseminated down to the regulars.

The equipment issued to Aguila operators is some of the best that can be sourced on the black market. They all carry rifles, machine guns, carbines or personal defense weapons that are customized to suit the individual user, with troops allowed to choose their own sidearms. Also available to Aguila are shoulder fired rocket launchers, grenade launchers, shotguns and medium and heavy machine guns.

Aguila uses a number of vehicles. They own several cargo planes outfitted for conducting airborne operations and enough 4x4 trucks for every man in the company to ride.

Wealth:

While most of Aguila's profits go back into bettering the company, a lot them also go into Grants private bank accounts. At any given time he's worth at least ten million dollars and can embezzle from Aguila's coffers to obtain double or even triple that amount.

Electronic:
Despite being EMP shielded to some degree Grant's cybernetics are still electronics. A powerful EMP or someone capable of controlling electronics can really mess with him.

Greedy:
Grant is willing to lie, cheat, steal and kill for wealth. He desires it above anything else, including his own personal safety.

Negatively Buoyant:
With extra thick bones and metal limbs Grant can't float or swim. He just sinks.

Programmable:
If someone were to hack into the augmentations in his brain it's possible for them to influence Grant's actions and even change his very personality. With strong enough suggestion it's even possible to permanently change who he is though most manipulation will wear off eventually.

Wanted:

Grant is currently wanted for mass murder in the United States.
