Profile

Emma is the headmistress of the Academy of Tomorrow, and the CEO of Frost International. She is a former member of the HFC and has since parted ways to do things her own way. She's in the discussion of the greatest telepaths of all time, and a self made woman, despite what some people say about her using her family influence.

In bare feet, Emma Frost falls at least a couple of inches short of six feet, and yet, somehow her presence, and the sheer force of her personality, creates the illusion that she towers over others and stands much taller than her actual height. Her platinum blonde hair nearly glows, styled in luxurious and voluminous waves that hang down to her shoulders, occasionally brushing across her face to obscure an eye. Those eyes are a bright cobalt blue, glowing with intensity, icy cold and vaguely threatening, outlined with just a touch of dark eyeshadow. Those eyes frame a narrow, almost aristocratic nose, small and pert and adding to the model-like beauty of her lightly tanned face. Lips border on being full, but are ever so capable of pressing into a thin, disapproving line; high cheekbones aiding in Emma's ability to convey her displeasure with no more than a single icy look. And, in keeping with such an icy demeanor, those lips are painted a cool, matte blue.

Encircled oh so briefly by a white choker that sits just around her larynx, Emma's narrow throat and long neck lead down to shoulders that are bared to the world, as are her upper arms - though from just above her elbow down to fingertips, she wears long, elegant white gloves. Emma wears a bustier that wraps around her upper arms and torso, drawing the eye to her chest while leaving her sleek, toned midriff on display, her very body seemingly weaponized for distraction; her outfit only enhancing this effect, complete with a draping cape that falls to nearly floor length, curling about her ankles thanks to stiletto heels that give her added inches of height. More model than fighter, the closest thing to a flaw on Emma's form is the small divot of her navel in the midst of her stomach. Which is to say she's flawless.

Full hips act as a counterpoint to Emma's ample bust line, to give her a stunning hourglass shape, clad in white pants that are ribbed with reinforced seams, made of a synthetic fabric with flexibility and durability in equal measure, - after all, one mustn't allow the rabble to ruin one's wardrobe. After a lengthy trip down fit, full thighs, to knees, and then just below, those pants disappear into a pair of shining white boots, toes pointed, heels high and sharp, giving her a little bit of extra height that might just explain that original sensation she's somehow elevated above everyone around her.

Head to toe, a vision in chill and stunning white, Emma truly is the White Queen.

History

Born to wealth and power, Emma Frost is the youngest of the four Frost children and the one who her father, Winston, considered the failure of the family. His constant reminders that she was unfit to bear the Frost name, naturally, weighed on Emma and was the leading cause for her constant low grades at Snow Valley Schools for Girls, as well as her status as a social outcast. It was this pressure from peers and family, as well as the natural stress that comes with hitting puberty, that threw Emma head first into her powers emerging, which resulted in severe migraines that in turn caused worse grades, and the cycle simply continued from there. That is, until her powers bloomed fully.

After her powers came into full being, Emma's life improved greatly in all areas. In fact, she went from nothing to everything almost overnight it seemed. It was during this time in her life that Emma began a relationship with Ian Kendall, a teacher of hers. He's also the reason that she set herself on the path to become a teacher herself. Her father was having none of it, however, and when Emma and Ian were caught kissing outside the Frost home, her father blackmailed her into giving up her new found dream. This only served to widen the rift between father and daughter.

When Winston was ready to announce an heir to the Frost fortune, everyone was certain it would be Emma's elder sister Adrienne since she was the most qualified, and the eldest aside from their brother Christian - who had been disowned because of drug use and life choices. Winston surprised everyone by naming Emma as the heir, and Emma further surprised people by refusing it and opting, instead, to forge her own path in life.

The next few years would not be kind to Emma. She would end up living out of a hotel, and working minimum wage jobs to pay for it, until the day when she got busted using her powers to pass off newspaper as money to pay for a meal. From there, things were a downward spiral for Emma. She was forced into washing dishes to work off her tab, and while she did meet Troy Killkelly during this time, and their relationship budded and led to the two moving in together, the happiness was not to last. Troy owed a lot of money to a loan shark who insisted on more than he was owed. To pay for this, Troy hatched a plan with Emma to make it seem as if she had been kidnapped and force her father to pay a ransom which they would use to pay off Troy's debt. Unfortunately, Winston considered Emma dead to him and refused to pay.

Emma's life crashed around her when, Troy was killed during all of this. She pulled herself up, however, proving her strength as she stole all the knowledge of business, and deals, from the loan sharks mind, and then used the money that Adrienne forced her father to pay by taking the tape of Emma's ransom demand to the news, and moved to New York to start over. It was some time after her arrival that the youngest Frost found herself in Essex Clinic, a mental institution. There, she was drugged and kidnapped by the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, so that Magneto could take her to Cerebro in Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and use her to kill all humans and bring all mutants together.

The beings called 'Evolutionaries' thwarted this, however, and while two were the last, the one remaining wiped all memories of their existence from the Brotherhood and X-Men then returned Emma to the clinic but with a clear head and a system free of drugs. Needless to say, she didn't stick around there for very much longer.

Deciding it was time for another change after the incident at the clinic, Emma dyed her hair blonde and started college, attending Empire State. It wouldn't be a pleasant experience though. Yes, she was reunited with Ian and even met her first fellow telepath, a young woman named Astrid Bloom, but her life would once more take a chaotic turn. While Astrid was teaching Emma to use her powers to their full extent, Emma had confessed to her roommate, Christine McDermott, that she was in love with their teacher, Ian Kendall. Betaying Emma's trust, Christine threatened to expose Ian if Emma didn't leave school. Astrid, present at the confrontation used her powers to force Ian to choke Christine, Emma jumped in to save Christine and in the process both killed Astrid, and absorbed her knowledge. Despite saving his life, when Ian learned Emma was a mutant, he left her in disgust.

After the incident Emma left Empire State and move to Harvard Business school, graduating with a Masters of Business with Honours in record time thanks to her abilities allowing her to pull knowledge from the heads of her teachers and fellow students. Despite her degrees, after graduation she took a job as a dancer at the Hellfire Club. The Club was a meeting place for New York's elite and she soon gathered a stockpile of secrets and used them to build her fortune going from employee of the club to member in a handful of months. Her rise was noticed by the Inner Circle and when Sebastian Shaw made his play to take over, he recruited Emma's assistance. Shaw was successful, and when Shaw became the club's new Black King, Emma became the White Queen.

The move benefited Emma as well as Shaw and with the clubs help she took over a failing multinational conglomerate and rebranded it Frost International and turned it around. It was during this time that Charles Xavier reached out to her to join his new team of X-Men, but Emma refused and the event was erased from her mind.

Though, wanting to give back, and train a new generation of mutants and metas to aid the Hellfire Club, she took over responsibility as the headmistress of the Academy of Tomorrow in Metropolis. Emma did well at the school, but conflicts over the future of the students caused her to break with Shaw and the Hellfire Club as a whole, relinquishing the title of White Queen. In retaliation, the Hellfire Club had Emma ousted from the school.

Taking a handful of her powered students with her, she reached out to Charles Xavier, to join the school as a teacher and to find a safe refuge for her students.

Personality

Emma is a cold, calculating manipulator - more comfortable pulling strings than being out front and in the line of fire. She relies on her charisma, charm, and womanly ways to get what she wants. Nothing she does is by chance, every action thought out and executed with precision. However she is very protective of her friends, and those she might consider family, including her students, and when it comes to them, sometimes that cold, calculating exterior slips.

Abilities

ASTRAL PROJECTION
Emma has the ability to project the astral form of her body onto the astral or the physical planes. In the physical plane she can travel in astral form over vast distances. In the astral plane, she can mentally create psionic objects, and manipulate aspects of her environment. She can communicate with others astrally through her own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others.

DIAMOND FORM
Emma Frost has the ability to shift her entire body to be form of organic diamond. In this form, Emma is translucent, has superhuman strength, is tireless, and has no need for food, water, or air. However, while it gives her a boost in physical strength, and a considerable boost in durability and endurance, it completely blocks her telepathic abilities, as well as those of others against her. Of greater impact, though, is the fact that the form has a singular flaw, that if struck, will cause Emma's diamond form to shatter. As well, if knocked unconscious, Emma's form will return to flesh. She is unable to selectively turn bits of herself to diamond - it's an all or nothing proposition. In short, it's not a form safe to remain in for the long term.

Superhuman Strength - In diamond form, Emma's strength is significantly increased, to superhuman levels. (up to 2 tons of lift, max)

Superhuman Stamina - In diamond form, Emma's form becomes super efficient, and she does not produce fatigue toxins, allowing her to fight for near indefinite periods of time. However, if she goes unconscious, she reverts to her normal, human form, and is subject to normal human frailties.

Superhuman Durability - In diamond form, Emma is resistant to most forms of physical injury, and requires none of the usual human necessities of life (air, food, water), as well as being resistant to extreme temperatures. However, her form has a fatal flaw, and that flaw, if struck, will cause her body to shatter. As well, should she go unconscious for any reason, Emma will revert back to human form, along with all its attendant frailties.

Psychic Immunity - In diamond form, Emma is immune to the telepathic abilities of others, however, she is also unable to use her own psychic abilities while in this form.

PSIONICS
Emma uses manipulation of psychic energy for the purposes of attack, defense, communication, and other miscellaneous applications.

Psionic Shield: Emma can erect a psychic shield around herself or others. This leaves her, or anyone she protects, nearly immune to mental attacks, intrusion, or such things as illusions (ie: she's mostly invulnerable to mind attacks of any sort). Emma shields herself as a matter of course to block out errant thoughts and emotions from others. Those trying to read her mind read only 'static' or white noise. As well, Emma is able to remove the psychic shields of others.

Mind Cloaking: Emma is able to hide her presence, and her use of telepathic and psychic abilities, from other telepaths and mutants, though this is not a perfect masking by any means, and may be seen through, especially by those with high ranking abilities. As well, she has the ability to rearrange her mental engrams to hide her specific thought patterns from Cerebro-type devices and other telepaths, leaving her undetectable by them.

Telepathic Illusions: Emma has the ability to create telepathic illusions that are realistic enough that others experience these events as though they are actually occurring.

Telepathic Camouflage: Emma has the ability to alter the apparent physical appearance of herself, and others, by altering the perceptions of others. She can actually make others believe that the camouflaged persons are not that (ie: are invisible). While there is no strict limit on how many people Emma can camouflage, there is on the number of those she is trying to fool. The greater the number of people Emma is trying to convince don't see something, the more likely it is that her illusions will fail.

Absorb/Download Information: Emma is able to quickly absorb, and process, information gleaned from others through telepathic means. As well, Emma is able to take information from others (or herself) through telepathic means, and place this information directly into someone else's mind.

Intuitive Multilingual: Emma is able to use her telepathic abilities to intuitively translate other languages.

Mental Detection/Tracking: Emma is able to sense the presence of other mutants and superhumans within a small radius of herself by recognizing the distinctive mental signatures of such beings. These same emanations allow Emma to track another being in the immediate vicinity, especially if they pose an immediate threat.

Mind Link: Emma is able to create a mental link with another person. She retains aspects of this connection even after the link itself is broken.

Psionic Blasts: Emma is able to project psionic force as a projectile, or as waves, causing causing pain, unconsciousness, or death. The resulting damage may be both mental or physical, and can even cause death.

Psionic Lightning: Emma can channel the ambient psionic energy in the air, and direct it mentally, like a lightning bolt, to hit a target.

Force Field: Emma is able to create force fields out of manipulated psionic energy.

Potential Telekinetic: Emma has unintentionally levitated small items. It is unknown if she can do this deliberately or not at this time.

Limited Psychometry: While said to possess a form of this power, Emma has not been seen using it. It is uncertain whether this rumour is true or not.

PSYCHIC SURGERY
Emma's personal specialty, which is the utilization of pinpointed psionic energy to exert absolute control over individual brain and body functions, so the physical form can be manipulated (i.e., injuries healed, disabilities repaired, the nervous system, etc.).

Heal/Cause Trauma: Emma is able to both heal and cause mental trauma, merely by touching the person upon the brow. She does so by stimulating, or deadening, the portions of the brain that cause pain or pleasure.

Mind Control: Emma is able to use her powers to control and change the thoughts and actions of others telepathically.

Mind Possession: Similar to mind control, only with this, Emma 'possesses' the mind of the other, and for the duration, is able to use that person's body and powers as though they were her own.

Mental Paralysis: Emma is able to create temporary mental or physical paralysis in another, causing them to be unable to act or react.

Mental Sedating: Emma is able to telepathically 'sedate' someone who is currently rendered unconscious, so that they remain unconscious. This effect lasts only for as long as Emma, or another telepath, continues to sedate them.

Personality Alteration: Emma is able to telepathically alter the mind of another through sheer force of will, so that permanent changes occur to portions of, or their entire, personality.

Mental Amnesia: Emma is able to remove portions of memories, or entire memories altogether of a person, or group of persons. This effect can also cause total amnesia.

Mind Transferral: Emma is able to transfer the entirety of another's mind, as well as their powers, into a host body (such as in the death of the original body).

Power Inhibition: Through the use of psychic suggestion, Emma can place 'psychic inhibitors' into the minds of other mutants which prevent them from using their abilities. She can also reverse this process, or help a mutant to gain access to their powers.

Neural Jumpstart: Emma can manipulate the speed at which another mind's neurons process information, allowing for a temporary boost in mutant powers.

TELEPATHY
Classified as "Omega Class", Emma is one of the strongest known telepaths in the world. While clearly a step below in terms of raw power compared to Charles Xavier or Jean Grey, the White Queen compensates by having lesser qualms about the use of her powers. Her ready experience and practice on unknowing minds also makes her the best in terms of knowing the human brain and how to manipulate it. Beyond the basics of broadcasting and receiving thoughts, the specific applications of her telepathy are many and are listed below. These can be broken up into three major categories: Psychic Surgery, Psionics, and Astral Projection.

EXPERT TECHNICIAN
Emma is highly skilled in electronic theory and electronics; a number of patents at Frost International are ones in her name. In particular, she has built devices that amplify psionic energy and utilize psionic energy for various effects.

GRACEFUL COMBATANT
Emma is an above average athlete, and has taken multiple lessons in a variety of martial arts and other hand to hand forms. Certainly not enough to stand toe-to-toe against a world class fighter, but enough that she can hold her own in most fights. And certainly more than one would expect from a glamorous woman who risks chipping such finely manicured nails.

MASTER MANIPULATOR
Possessing a keen intelligence, Emma is well-known for her acerbic wit and poise. Coupled with her telepathy and luscious figure, the White Queen is a skilled negotiator and manipulator. Not many men or women can resist her when she is determined to have her way.

FAMILY
Despite a troubled and uncertain past with her family, Emma is still a Frost, and she still can call upon them for support. And, in many circles, the Frost name carries its own weight. Emma maintains contact with many influential and potentially useful people.

FROST INTERNATIONAL
Frost International is the business Emma built from the ground up in spite of her own family leaving the business to her sibling. As expected, she has many attendant responsibilities to go with running a multinational business (board meetings, dealing with shareholders, international laws, etc), but reaps many rewards as well, those not just limited to the monetary. Emma is very proud of her accomplishments, especially as she was once thought to be the family failure.

HELLFIRE CLUB
While Emma no longer maintains a position at the Hellfire Club, nor does she have access to her former resources there, she still maintains contact with a few choice people there, who, should the need arise, might still be willing to help her.

XAVIER'S SCHOOL
Since leaving the Hellfire Club, Emma has devoted her teaching to Xavier's School for the Gifted. While it is a job for her, it isn't -merely- a job for her, and she cares for her students and the school. As a teacher there, Emma has access to numerous resources, and a lot of contacts and support.

Weaknesses

CONTROLLING
Emma needs to believe that she has some modicum of control in any situation, or else she begins to feel anxious and uncomfortable. She strongly dislikes being in a situation where she has no control, especially if that loss of control is over herself. Emma's need to control and manipulate situations goes beyond feeling uncomfortable to the point where if she does not feel she has power in situation she fast goes from uncomfortable, to irritable, to downright bitchy.

DISTANT
Emma can be cold and off-putting, especially if she's not getting her own way. Emma only plays nice if she has to, and she rarely has to. Emma has been known to make enemies, or at least not make friends, because of her seeming distance and chill personality.

FAMILY
Emma is not one to show her emotions lightly, reserving that for the some few she cares about deeply, and most often only in private. She has a small circle of friends, and, as well, cares deeply about her students. These are the people who can get an emotional response out of Emma, and by the same token, can be used to manipulate her actions and reactions.

OUTSPOKEN
Emma is not afraid to speak her mind about any number of things. She has no high esteem for law or society. She certainly doesn't respect people whom she feels haven't earned it. She balances herself on a fine line, and any number of things can push her to one side or the other. This doesn't always win Emma friends or support.

PERFECTIONIST
Somewhat an extension of Emma's need for control, she can push herself very hard; too hard. She tends to demand more of herself than others, and she demands a lot from others. This can lead to Emma getting in over her head, if only to prove she can do a thing. As well, she can often expect so much of others that they are unable to rise to the standards she places on them, or get overwhelmed to the point that they give up. She also has a tendency to be less than forgiving when others fail to rise to her standards. This can work decidedly against her, and it can be something to use against her by others who are aware of her demanding standards.

PSYCHIC INTRUSION
Emma's telepathy is a powerful tool, but the unfortunate side effect is that it's also a constant source of -everyone else's- thoughts. She instinctively picks up on surface thoughts from everyone around her, except those trained or otherwise enhanced to hide their thoughts. Because of this, Emma must maintain constant shields against this continual intrusion upon her; were she so lose her shielding, Emma would once again be inundated with the constant, and unwelcome, thoughts of others. Thankfully, Emma is quite skilled at maintaining these shields.
