Emotions are human, and the girl known as Raven desperately wants to be human. To be normal. For her, though, emotions also represent the connection to her father, the demon Trigon. Thus, she has learned this impeccable level of control over herself, forcing everything down below the surface where it can be processed in these acceptable chunks. Description:

A motif of ravens in dark gray provides a sense of motion and contrast to the black, zip-up hoodie this woman wears. The baggy outer layer partially conceals the underlying black tee and the casual short-shorts below that. Black leggings and strapped combat boots work in tandem with the hoodie to conceal most of this soft goth's pale flesh. Her physique is modest but toned, more in line with a feline's nimble musculature.

A lighter gray outline of a raven's head stands out on either side of the hood pulled up over her head, hiding away most of her purple-black, angled bob and the slender, exotic features of a pale face. Divagating from standard features, lipstick and eyeliner are generously applied in ostentatious onyx, giving a stark contrast to the white teeth and blue eyes, respectively. A single, red gem cut in oval cabochon glistens against her forehead, outlined in black where it is attached to her skin near the crest of her hair.

History

History:

Born to Angela Roth after her summary interaction with the Demon known as Trigon, Angela took refuge in Azarath to raise her daughter. Named Raven by the Azarathian monks, Raven grew up different than the rest of the individuals in Azarath, and was trained by the local deity to control her emotions in an effort to pre-emptively suppress the evil of her father. It wasn't until the passing of the deity that Raven would learn of her father's nature. She fled after the meeting, but from then on Trigon had his eyes set on using her.

Raven would shortly after take residence on Earth, as Azarath lay in ruin behind her, where she hoped she could maintain something resembling a home among the strangers that lived there. It wasn't long after this that she learned of the Justice League and sought them out to seek assistance. After they refused her, she looked elsewhere, and stumbled upon the earlier Teen Titans. There she would become an off and on member, the resident mystic, and a reliable source of arcane knowledge due to her own collection of occult books.

Personality:

Withdrawn, shy, and sarcastic are the primary words used to describe Raven. She has an edge to her that seems more befitting someone ten years older than her, a wisdom that comes from a clarity of mind that she gets from regular meditation, and a sort of cynical bitterness that one might expect from someone that is more oriented towards logic than feelings. Where she really shines is in her quips, taking digs at the most opportune moments, showing she has a sense of humor despite her gothy visage.

Empathy:
Raven can passively see and feel the emotions of those around her. It isn't clear the exact reasons behind her ability to do so, be it personal ability, genetic, or demonic, though she is quite adept at tuning them out, and rarely takes notice except for exceedingly emotional individuals.

Intangibility:
Raven is capable of passing through physical obstacles by creating magic shadow tunnels through them

Shadow Magic:
Varying in form, and to some degree in function, Raven can produce bubbles, shields, walls, and other simple physical constructs from dark magics. Typically in the form of a sphere, they don't hold up long and are rather fragile on their own, though can be used to reinforce or bolster existing objects to greater effect.

Soul-Self:
Created by the part of her that stems from Trigon, Raven's soul extends from her being sometimes in quasi-physical form. This avatar of her soul varies in shape, but typically exists as a raven with four red eyes, a large raven-shaped shadow, or even her human form. It is capable of joining into her physical form and will behave as a living shadow or a separate entity under Raven's control. It serves as both an astral projection and a bridge with the spirit worlds.

Telekinesis:
Raven can cast magic shadows over objects from range, allowing her to move, lift, and manipulate them relatively freely. The exact weight limits of her power are untested, but she has demonstrated the ability to hold up a collapsing building for a time. Using the ability on herself, Raven is capable of flight and levitation. She has the acuity to manipulate multiple objects simultaneously, though greater numbers require more concentration. She may also cast on people, but to lesser effect the greater the will of the individual resisting it.

Teleportation:

Bridging large spans of distance with shadow magic, Raven can create temporary portals between places that are large enough for people to travel through. This magic is difficult and requires a great deal of concentration or the portals collapse.

Raven knows enough to throw a punch or kick without hurting herself, but couldn't be expected to fight in this manner against anyone with any measurable skill.

Raven has an extensive knowledge of the mystic, ranging from the lesser magics of mundane witchcraft to more powerful rites and rituals originating from both Earth and Azarath.

Emotions:
The worst part of Raven's connection to Trigon is that her emotions are unstable, an inherent connection to the demonic lineage that creates chaotic rifts within her magic that produce dangerous results as her emotions take hold. To combat this, Raven subjects herself to emotional abnegation, often meditating and distancing herself from making dangerous relationships. Anyone with emotionally manipulative powers or particularly adept psychological manipulation skills produce even more threat to Raven than they do the typical person given how her powers will lash out of her control as any form of emotion spikes.

Obvious Magic:
The visual aspect of Raven's magic is hard to hide, casting objects, people, and physical projections into a shadowy darkness that is visually distinct. Additionally, her hands, eyes, and sometimes more of her body are cast in shadow when she's using her magic.

Trigon's Heir:

In addition to being wanted by Trigon himself, many powerful, villainous individuals would like nothing more than to hold Raven hostage to use her as a means to access Trigon or his powers. Functioning as both a portal and a focus to the demon lord, Raven represents an impending apocalypse in the wrong hands, and will only be more attractive to those seeking to bring ruin to Earth.
