Appearance
Brian is 198 cm tall, and weighs 117 kg, with less than 6% of it being body fat. He has thick blond hair, with a natural wave to it. And he has piercing blue eyes. If all of this weren't enough, he is also quite handsome, wealthy, which enables him to dress well, and an English nobleman. He's also a doctorate candidate, and a superhero. He's intelligent, witty, charismatic, and has gravitas. Simply put, he is "yummy". Or to put it another way, men want to be him, and women want to be with him.
Braddock Castle
In 1744, then Major Edward Braddock, purchased land in Caernarvon, Avalon, Blüdhaven. Braddock wanted to build a home worthy of Europe - with much influence from his mother, who favoured the Tudor style. Granite for the home was quarried in Bergen County. Italian marble lines the breakfast room. The drawing room is panelled in Scandinavian pine. And the grounds were turned into a series of botanical gardens. In 1990, it was purchased by Brian's father, James Sr. Three decades later, it was left specifically to Brian. Curiously, it was not shared with his sister Betsy and his brother Jamie.
'Braddock Industries
Before his descent into madness, Brian's older brother Jamie was a shrewd businessman, turning Braddock Industries from a respectable, but middling technology firm, into one that is regularly counted among the top twenty in the world. It may not be Wayne Enterprises, or even da Costa International, but Braddock Industries assures the financial security of Brian, Betsy, and even Jamie, whom each have a 17% stake. Due to Jamie's ongoing medical issues, Brian effectively has control of Jamie's 17, giving him a total of 34.
Braddock Lighthouse
The Braddock Lighthouse in Hale, Halton, Cheshire, on the River Mersey, near Runcorn, serves two purposes. The first is as a navigational aid for maritime pilots. The second is as a dimensional nexus, connecting the multiverse. It is a source of immense magical power, which can be tapped into by users such as Merlin. Brian has never lived there, and rarely visits, but he has been made aware of its significance. It is always guarded by a member of the Captain Britain Corps. Earth-1999 is fortunate to have four such members.
Braddock Manor
Braddock Manor is a large, early 17th-century country house outside Maldon, Maldon District, Essex. Once a prodigy house, a palace in all but name, and renowned as one of the finest Jacobean houses in England, Braddock Manor is now one-third of its original size, but still large, with much to enjoy in its architectural features and varied collections. The house shares some seminaries with Audley End House. It is currently in the stewardship of Brian Braddock, owing to his older brother Jamie Braddock's ongoing medical issues. Its permanent staff include Michael "Mick" Jeeves, their live-in valet, and the Mastermind computer, an artificial intelligence housed in the basement laboratory.
Captain Britain Corps
The Captain Britain Corps are a group of interdimensional superheroes, and are essentially, alternate dimension versions of Captain Britain, most often Briand Braddock. While this is the norm, it is not absolute. Alysande Stuart, the Captain Britain of Earth-9809, better known as Caledonia; Kelsey Leigh, the Captain Britain of Earth-626, better known as Lionheart; and Linda McQuillan, the Captain Britain of Earth-238, better known as Captain U.K., are three examples of this, and all three have come to reside on Earth-1999 alongside Brian. Founded by Merlin, the Corps' primary duty is to guard the Multiverse. Each member protected his or her reality based out of their dimensional equivalent of Britain, and is powered by the friction between dimensions.
Car
Brian has a 2026 Jaguar F-Type convertible. It utilises an all-aluminium chassis, assembled with flush rivets and glue. Sound and vibration insulation is provided by the addition of a special underbody tray and engine mounts, and a double bulkhead between the engine bay and passenger compartment. The convertible roof is an electrically operated retractable fabric piece. By eschewing metal, it can keep the car's centre of gravity low, while a Thinsulate layer means thermal and sound insulation is akin to a solid roof. Unlike his motorcycle, which is painted in the colours of the British flag, his car is Ethereal Silver with a gloss finish.
Celebrity
Brian Braddock is a celebrity, but mercifully, a fairly minor one. He, along with his siblings, have a controlling interest in Braddock Industries. His father was a member of the House of Lords. His brother Jamie was a Formula 1 driver. His sister Betsy is a model, among other things. By comparison, he has lived a life of blissful anonymity, but he is still wealthy, handsome, athletic, a member of the peerage, and has seen articles published in scientific journals.
Darkmoor Energy Research Centre
The Darkmoor Energy Research Centre, in a remote part of northern England, was founded in 1976. As a physics student, Brian briefly worked there, serving under Dr. Hugo Travis, the head of research. Despite a squad of former S.A.S. (secret army service) providing security, the centre came under attack, and Brian had to seek help on his motorcycle. This sequence of events led to him becoming Captain Britain. He knows the facility well, and still has friends there.
Empire State University
Brian Braddock attends Empire State University in Manhattan, and is currently working on his Masters of Engineering. He knows that university well, many of its professors, and his fellow classmates.
Hellfire Club
Sir James Braddock, M.D. was the Black Bishop of the London branch of the Hellfire Club. As such, Brian, Jamie, an Betsy are eligible to claim the position, though any one of them wishing to do so may and likely would face competition for it. This also affords him membership in the Hellfire Club at large. Although it would take some effort to join another branch's Inner Circle, his status as a legacy gives him a slight advantage.
Merlin
Merlin was born on an alternate Earth as a member of a race of immortal, powerful beings. He created Braddock Lighthouse on Earth-1999, as well as another on every Earth in the Omniverse. From Otherworld, he safeguards all universes in existence as the Omniversal Guardian. He founded the Captain Britain Corps, and arranged for the birth of Jamie, Brian, and Betsy Braddock, as their father, Sir James, was sent there to father them. Over the years, he has manipulated Brian into becoming a stronger and wiser hero.
Michael Jeeves
Michael "Mick" Jeeves is the Braddock Family's highly competent valet. He is not a butler, as a butler manages other servants and is ultimately responsible for a household. A valet acts alone, and usually serves an individual. With Brian and Betsy spending the majority of their time across the Atlantic, Mick tends to Jamie Braddock as best he can, given the eldest Braddock's mental condition.
Motorcycle
Brian has a 2026 Suzui Hayabusa. The 1340 cc, four-stroke, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, D.O.H.C., 16 vale engine, motorcycle has a top speed of 397 km/h. It is predominantly painted white, with red and blue accents, in an artistic version of the Union Jack, the flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It can produce 147 kw at 6750 rpm, and has a 6 speed transmission system with constant mesh. He has a matching helmet. This motorcycle is only worn as Brian Braddock, and never used by his alter ego, Captain Britain.
Otherworld
Brian does not know it yet, but he is half-Otherworldian. He is also an heir to the throne of Otherworld, as his father, Sir James Braddock, M.D. on Earth-1999, was in fact King James of Otherworld. He has friends and allies he has not met. Some look out for him, like Merlin and Roma. Others will simply treat him better when they meet him, especially as he is the spitting image of his father.
Psylocke
Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock is Brian's fraternal twin, born a mere three seconds after him. Whereas Brian was studious, Betsy was adventurous. After school, she cycled through a variety of careers, from pilot, to fashion model, to government agent, and now she's a ninja... and Japanese. It's complicated. Her outward appearance may have changed, but inside, she's still the girl he grew up with. She's still his little sister, a fact he loves to remind her of.
Roma
As the Lady of the Northern Skies, Roma assists her father Merlin in the empowering of the members of the Captain Britain Corps. She was there the night that Brian Braddock was chosen to become Earth-1999's Captain Britain, and has watched over him ever since. Besides bequeathing him with great physical strength, Roma also gave him a quarterstaff. Merlin later replaced it with the Star Sceptre, which itself was later merged with his uniform. She resides in another dimension called Otherworld, operating out of the Starlight Citadel.
Thames University
Brian Braddock attended Thames University in London, earning his Bachelors of Physics. He knows that university well, many of its professors, and even struck up a friendship with the groundskeeper. A few of his former classmates may still be attending as they work on their masters or doctorates.
Uniform
Captain Britain's uniform was originally linked to the Amulet of Right, which Brian wore around his neck. Since then, his uniform has undergone numerous enhancements. The Star Sceptre, which replaced his earlier quarterstaff, was incorporated into the uniform, costing him a tangible weapon, but freeing up his hand, and enabling him to fly with or without the weapon. His uniform is capable of harnessing and storing interdimensional energies, such as those that permeate Braddock Lighthouse in Hale, Hatton, Cheshire, or the Hellmouth in Sunnydale, Avalon, Blüdhaven. In this way, it acts as a battery, and enables him to operate for extended periods, but not indefinitely, when away from these energies.
Watchers Council
Captain Britain has developed a good rapport and solid working relationship with the Watchers Council, who are devoted to tracking, sometimes combating, and preventing supernatural entities from becoming public knowledge. They have no desire to hide the truth; in point of fact, they are preserving it, while simultaneously enabling billions of people to lead ordinary lives. Were he not called for a higher purpose, Brian Braddock might have become a Watcher himself.
Wealth
Brian Braddock is the younger brother of Lord Jamie Braddock, as his brother gets to keep his title despite his mental issues. He and his siblings have a controlling interest in Braddock Industries. He owns Braddock Castle, and shares Braddock Manor and Braddock Lighthouse with his siblings. He has a loft in London. Money is not an issue for him, nor will it ever be. Still, money cannot buy you happiness, but it can help.
