Profile

Richard Dragon is one of the greatest martial artists in the United Heroes Universe. He is also a Master Philosopher, Sensei, Grandmaster and Spiritual Advisor to many. He has trained many heroes, including Batman, the Question, Oracle, Wonder Woman, Connor Hawke, and Wolverine to name just a few. It is also rumoured he was involved in assisting General Nick Fury in developing the latest SHIELD self-defense training program. Richard Dragon has also trained numerous "grey" aligned people as well, including Lady Shiva and the Huntress. Richard usually stays in the background, preferring to train and assist, but not get involved in the daily battles of "super-heroes ". He is a Sensei, a mentor, a confidant, a philospher, and a source of calm in the stormy sea that is the United Heroes Universe.

The man that stands before you is over 6 foot tall and handsome. His aura exudes serenity and patience. His chiseled physique is muscular and lean, slightly tanned with the occasional visible scar, a testament to his life and history of physical drama.

His long, undisciplined, fiery red hair seems to blow in the breeze, even when there is no wind, and falls around his shoulders in defiance to the natural order that surrounds this man. His deep blue eyes peer into you, as though sizing you up and testing you before even a word is spoken.

The man is currently wearing a dark leather pair of pants, skin tight, and a blood-red coloured loose, open vest that reveals the muscular chest and perfect abs of a warrior. His dark brown leather boots are well worn and comfortable.

History

Richard Dragon was a young teenage thief in Japan that got caught trying to steak a "jade buddha" from a martial arts temple. Caught by Ben Turner (who would become the "Bronze Tiger"), he was beaten easily by O-Sensei. O-Sensei, the Grandmaster of the temple, saw something in the young, fiery red-haired young man, and decided to take him in to train him.

Training beside his soon to be friend, Turner, it was discovered that Richard Dragon was an incredible natural martial artist and athlete. Mastering everything he was taught, Dragon soon become the greatest Martial Artist that had been taught by O-Sensei. When O-Sensei could no longer teach him, he left the two behind. Parting ways, Dragon left to pursue his destiny.

Since that time, and over the many years since, Richard Dragon has traveled the world, learning and training, studying and contemplating the philosophy of life. He has discovered an inner peace and a feeling of serenity that he brings forward in his teachings.

As the premier Grandmaster of the Martial Arts in the United Heroes Universe, he has been sought after many times, by some of the greatest heroes...and villains...of the modern age. He has discovered that his teachings match well with the heroic lifestyle, and many of his students have gone on to become some of the greatest heroes, today.

Richard Dragon was once a passionate, difficult youth who was undisciplined, chaotic, a thief and a miscreant. He had never had anyone teach him different traits until he met Turner and the O-Sensei. After his training with O-Sensei, Dragon become a changed person. Now, he is calm. Serene. In touch with himself and his chi. His inner spirit and exterior are one, calm, tranquil, under control, and disciplined.

Dragon has a biting wit and dark sense of humour that many find refreshing in a Martial Arts Grandmaster. His reputation preceeds him to those who understand the hierarchy of martial artists in the world, but at no point does he allow ego get in the way of his self-deprecatating humour and sense of oneness with the Universe. He is willing to help anyone that follows his rules and teachings.

Dragon honestly believes in a special purpose to his reason for being. He truly feels he is a teacher. A philosopher. A mentor. A Sensei to those that need it, especially those in the super-hero profession, or even more so, to teach those in the darker professions of the United Heroes Universe, a more orderly, disciplined way.

Dragon is not a pacifist, but believes in violence only as a last resort. He will defend himself, but he frowns on physical violence as he feels it is a failure on his part to communicate with others. When necessary though, he will use force, and even, deadly force, only if absolutely necessary.

Dragon is a warrior. A monk. Serenity personified. Passion behind a wall of glacial calm. Although usually in complete control of his emotions, there are times when his darker nature reveals itself, and heaven help those that are the target of his anger. This is usually quickly snuffed out, however, and his control returns.

Richard Dragon is a man of honour. Of wisdom. Of philosophy and art. Of serenity and with a code of ethics. He has his own code, and will follow that code religiously and with out wavering.

CHI CONTROL
Richard Dragon is truly "in touch" with himself, his spirit, and his chi, his very life force. This allows him to control his body in nigh-superhuman ways, from speeding healing, to resisting poisons, damage and disease. It also allows him to concentrate better, so he can aim, strike, hit, damage, and be precise in nearly everything, from day-to-day events, to in the middle of combat. Dragon's senses are among the most attuned in the United Heroes Universe, and he is able to use his chi to the highest levels. Fast, agile, quick, observant, precise, and strong, Dragon is constantly on his guard, even when relaxed or meditating. This allows him to dodge projectiles, punch through steel, and even potentially give Superman pause (like Karate Kid of the Legion) by finding the weak points on anyone.

SERENITY
Richard Dragon has mastered the art of Serenity. Medication. The focusing of his Chi to reach a calmer plane of existence. He could give Dr. Strange or Dr. Fate advice on astral travel and planar consciousness. He has the ability to focus this in speeding healing, communicate with himself and others, and even to control his anger, frustration, pain, and it gives him an almost "sixth" sense or premonition for upcoming events. He cannot predict the future, but using these techniques he can sense when trouble is stalking him. This also allows himself to block mental and emotional attacks, and with this, he can prevent himself from being controlled or manipulated by all but the most powerful of telepaths. He can control his thoughts, memories and consciousness to prevent any tampering or mining and he is effective at thinking EXACTLY what he wants to. He can lower his heart rate to a point where he appears dead, and can control things such as bleeding, respiration, circulation, and breathing. Dragon is able to bend like a reed, and manipulate his shape to an almost unnatural state. This allows him to squeeze into places not normally allowed by his size and musculature, just by concentrating.

THE DRAGON
Richard Dragon is a prodigy in every sense of the word. As a teenager, he was able to develop into one of the, if not THE, greatest martial artist of the last five generations. He became a Grandmaster by the age of 23. He is constantly learning, adapting new and old techniques, and improving upon his combat abilities. Martial Art Masters and Grandmasters come to him for training. Yes, he could beat Batman. He could give Daniel Rand a go, all things equal, and without the "Iron Fist". Even Shang-Chi or Karate Kid. His skills are constantly getting better, and there is no upper limits to the threshold he could surpass. When he meets new techniques, he assimilates them into his repertoire. He has learned most, if not all, Earth's martial arts, and several new, alien martial arts and techniques as well!

UNRELENTING GRANITE

When Richard Dragon focuses his chi (usually by touching his emerald jade pendant), he can become nearly unstoppable like "unrelenting granite". His strength, endurance, stamina and resistance to damage and pain increases by a factor of four, making him incredibly tough. This is quite exhausting and he cannot do this more than once per day.

ATHLETICS
Richard Dragon is in unbelievable shape. His workout regimen is as strict as that of the best athletes in the world. His athletic ability is of, at least, equal to an Olympic level athlete and he maintains this exercise regimen, daily which includes strict exercise, diet and meditation.

COMMUNICATION
Richard Dragon is extremely well versed and skilled in several forms of communication. This includes sign languages, non-verbal (body language), morse code, and others. She can read a person's intent, understand emotions, even when hidden, and knows with an almost sixth sense, when someone is going to "fight or flight". He does this by simply watching "twitch" response, muscle movements, and emotional response on their face and behaviour. It allows him to predict what the person is going to do, and block or attack.

GRANDMASTER
Richard Dragon is the premiere martial artist and he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Grandmaster of martial arts in the United Heroes Universe. Dragon has taught many of the greatest martial artists in the United Heroes Universe, and they consider him a Sensei, mentor, and even friend in some cases. His natural abilities are incredible, and matches, if not exceeds such experts as Danny Rand, Shang Chi, and possibly even Karate Kid of the Legion. He has studied and perfected most, if not all, the martial arts on the planet, and has even mastered a handful of alien martial arts he has encountered. His ability is such that, as he encounters a new technique, he assimilates it into his skill set to use and counter with almost supernatural ability. To date he has rarely met his equal, and even when that happens, as he adapts to that person, they better be on their toes as he can quickly learn their moves and techniques, and adapt his own forms to counter them effectively.

HEALER
Richard Dragon has learned, in his numerous travels, many ancient western and eastern techniques of healing. With his manipulation of chi and using his knowledge of healing, there are few things he cannot heal, from major injuries to some diseases, and even, with a supreme effort, aging to a certain extent. That is why he is over 40 but still looks in his late 20s. He cannot regenerate lost limbs, or mortal injuries, but he can, with significant effort, speed the healing proncess to bring people back from death's door right down to healing a sword wound or broken limb.

LANGUAGES
Richard Dragon has traveled all over the World, from the middle east, to the far east, to the west and beyond. In those travels he has learned numerous languages in his encounters and studies, and so speaks several languages fluently, such as: Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic, Italian, Spanish, several Native American dialects, German, French, and a few others.

PHILOSOPHER
Richard Dragon has studied the philosophies of many cultures, human and otherwise. His strength of spirit and his intellect have allowed him to become a Grandmaster of Philosophy in regards to Western and Eastern philosophy and history. A particular strength is in "super-hero" philosophy, and he has been approached by many heroes, and villains, to mentor them and teach them the ways he espouses. He always has words of wisdom, or a proverb or two that helps to strenghten the spirit and push that person forward, stronger than before.

SEMSEI
Richard Dragon has discovered that he is a very good Sensei or teacher. His philosophy, his methods, his wisdowm his abilities, and his teaching skills are very condusive to passing on his skills, techniques, and training to others willing to learn.

TRAVELLER
Richard Dragon has travelled all over the World, absorbing wisdom and culture from nearly every nation, state, and people on the planet. This has allowed him to absorb many cultural, ethnic, and religious ways, wisdom and knowledge, allowing him to be at home in most cultures. He has also picked up the ability to traverse lands and mountains, seas and oceans, and be able to survive and subsist on even the harshest of climates or terrains.

WEAPON MASTER

Richard Dragon is an acknowledged weapon master in a myriad of different weapons and techniques. Combined with his talents in martial arts make him a nigh-unbeatable opponent. Dragon is an expert with most ancient weapons, from swords to pole arms, knives to bows, staves to shuriken. Dragon prefers to use martial arts, however, and using weapons is almost distaseful and dishonorable.

Richard Dragon knows many people from different walks of life, people who would help him on a moments notice. He can also call on several heroes, and even villains, if necessary, for aid and assistance. Some heroes and villains he has trained. Some, he has had in-depth philosophy discussions with, or missions together. Some of these include, Batman, The Question, Nightwing, Wonder Woman, Dr. Strange, Huntress, Oracle, Connor Hawke, Nightwing, Renee Montoya, Lady Shiva and even Deadpool.

DRAGON'S CLAW
Richard Dragon possesses a mystical jade amulet given to him by O-Sensei, known as the "Dragon's Claw". This amulet allows him to draw on and channel his Chi, his very life essence to do supernatural feats of strength, endurance and martial arts - in times of greatest need.

EQUIPMENT
Richard Dragon owns very little. He does have access to several ancient weapons, such as swords, knives, etc. However, he prefers to carry just the garb on his back, and a few things to make his travels easier. This amounts to almost a "hermit" level of stuff he has.

MA COMMUNITY
Richard Dragon knows everyone in the Martial Arts Community, from the most ancient Grandmasters, including Sensei's and Masters all over the World, current and in the last 20 years, to the greatest super heroes and villains, to the lowest level soldiers. He knows most people by their real name, or their "codename" - and he probably knows their true identities as well...fighting is like a fingerprint. He just needs to fight a person for a few minutes, and he can tell who it is. He just has a knack for remembering you, and making you feel important.

RESOURCES

Richard Dragon doesn't own a lot of possessions. He doesn't have expensive cars, or clothes, houses or private jets. And he likes it that way. He does however have connections. All over the World. Not that he lacks resources when he needs them - but for a man with very few worldly possessions, he always seems to be able to take care of what he needs to. Almost like a "superpower".

COMPASSION
Richard Dragon is truly compassionate and caring individual that will help others, no matter who they are or what their alignment is. That has made his life very difficult numerous times, but he still has never changed this philosophy towards helping those in need. Sometimes, his ego may be a bit strong, believing he can truly help everyone, and bring them back from darkness. He has to try...

REPUTATION
Richard Dragon has been around now for several years. Long enough to get a reputation as a teacher, as a mentor, as a Sensei, and as one who will teach anyone who wants to learn, and respects a code. He also has the reputation as an extremely challenging warrior and master of the martial arts. Many has challenged him, none have defeated him. This makes him a target sometimes, for those who want to earn the reputation as the one who took down the Grandmaster. They can try...but usually just end up having a stimulation philosophical conversation that leaves the opponent bewildered and chastined without a fist being thrown.

SENSEI
Richard Dragon will teach anyone willing to commit to the training. He will teach anyone, from Batman and the Question, to Lady Shiva and Deadpool. League of Assassins, to Hydra. He truly feels that with his training and his philosophy, he can strive to bring even the darkests soul back from the abyss. He just needs to get used to failure as well.

"THE DESTROYER"

Richard Dragon has always had a soft spot for Lady Shiva. He has trained her, fought her, nearly died at her hands, to come back and fight harder. She is someone he will fight with, and also, help when she needs him. This is a strange relationship, that is for sure. One in which Dragon has a hard time figuring out...not a friend, not an ally, not an enemy. Something else. A weakness.
