Profile

Considered among the strongest and most powerful beings on the planet, Juggernaut is the embodiment of physical power with virtually limitless strength and durability. Despite his great power he's largely pursued criminal pursuits and a grudge against his step brother, Charles Xavier and Xavier's X-Men. Though this grudge has cooled over the years, his reputation for wanton destruction and being physically unstoppable is well known and he remains a prolific figure in the superhuman and criminal world.

Description:

The behemoth before you seems to have more in common with a semi-truck then he does a normal human being. Height alone makes him clearly giantish but his actual physique and the sheer massiveness of him on top of that brings this into a realm of absurdity. Huge veined muscles are piled upon him, so enormous that he looks on the verge of exploding with the wrong move. His skin color is a deep rugged tan and slightly hirsute, with neanderthalish hair gathering thickly on the backs of his mammoth arms, and forearms. His stance is wide legged. His legs are befitting his mass. Thighs bulging, rolling over each other and tightening to stupendous proportions when he walks and lurches. Physical strength rolls off of him like a shockwave due to the overwhelming proportions and titanic presence he brings.

Reddish brown armor wraps about the bruiser's torso almost like a second skin the way his gargantuan physique presses out against it, making it almost like a skinsuit. A broad band of red wraps around his midsection from his ribcage to about his belt line and then the red-brown hue continues on, covering his legs until it reaches massive calf high red boots. his arms are bare save for metallic bands circling his biceps, wrists and also acting as knuckle-dusters wrapping about his fingers. A large dome acts as a helmet, bolted down to the top of his armor with slits for his eyes and mouth, hiding his head from sight and giving him a tank like look when viewed from a distance.

History

History:

The son of nuclear physicist, Kurt Marko, Cain's mother died when he was very young, around 3 years of age. His father, was prone to abusiveness and mistreatment of the young Cain. Neglect and abandonment led to the souring of Cain's persona at a very young age developing him into a bad seed that spent most of his schooling years being bounced from one boarding school to another. Shortly before he was expelled from yet another school, Kurt Marko married Sharon Xavier and moved into their Westchester mansion. When Cain returned home from his latest expulsion he met young Charles Xavier and immediately took to bullying and mistreating him. Kurt favored Charles over Cain, worsening their relationship and things exponentially worsened when, during a moment when Kurt was physically abusing him, Charles sensed the turmoil telepathically and somehow Cain realized Charles had peered into his head to learn this shame. For that he never forgave him.

Everything reached a head when a teenaged Cain confronted Kurt Marko in his lab and during their argument accidentally started a fire that engulfed the room with Charles present as well. Kurt rescued Charles first and then went back for Cain and later died of smoke inhalation.

As adults Cain and Charles both found themselves in the same unit and the same war in an eastern nation. Fearing for his life and opting to sit out the war until it was over, Cain abandoned his post and Charles went after him. Both stumbled upon an ancient temple bearing a mysterious ruby gem which Cain approached and was able to read he inscription which appeared to his mind in English, despite its foreign lettering. At this moment The Juggernaut was born and as this happened a cave in collapsed the entire mountain and Charles was barely able to escape. He believed his step brother was dead and it would be years before Cain was able to free himself, at which point he had adopted the persona and name of The Juggernaut and his career in super villainy truly began.

The Juggernaut has clashed most repeatedly with Xavier and the X-Men with his first run in being against Xavier's original five and the Human Torch. Since then his power, reputation and criminal acts have only grown and he has clashed most often with the X-Men, Thor, Hulk and Spider Man though his mark has been felt by numerous heroes and villains across the globe and beyond. His allies included Black Tom Cassidy whom Cain had met in prison before he became The Juggernaut.

The Juggernaut has had a long and extensive career that has led to moments that drew him outside of his usual comfort zones and placed him into heroic, or at least neutral roles where he's fought alongside heroes against greater threats or even had extended periods of time on non villainous teams. He usually ends up coming full circle and returning to his typical patterns though not without having learned something in the process. His feud with Charles has cooled some over the years and his powers have fluctuated in strength depending on his favor with Cyttorak, from being temporarily fully withdrawn to being greater then ever before depending on state of mind and goals. No matter what, he remains a tremendous presence and among the most powerful physical beings on the planet.

Personality

Personality:

A schoolyard bully with the strength to move mountains, The Juggernaut does not seem to be very complicated on the surface. Unrefined, arrogant, selfish, boorish, single minded, and destructive are just some of the negative traits that can be applied to him. The use of his powers can be cataclysmic in scope and he seems to have very little regret or understanding of his own scope or just what happens to the world around him when he sets his mind on doing something. He cannot be said to be truly evil but he does show the results of unimaginable and seemingly limitless power in the hands of someone who can't think beyond simple thuggery. At times he's at best a blue collar mercenary-hitman and at worst a petulant man child who won't think twice about his actions collapsing an entire building around you if you challenge him or spill his drink.

Within his core, as with all people, the issues run deep. The abuse he suffered as a child and his warped perception of the world has influenced his world view as a grown man. He's slow to make friends but loyal, perhaps to a fault and a lack of clear thinking, when he does categorize someone in that way. Though selfish and destructive he is not a blood thirsty berserker monster and he has the capacity to rethink his actions, show mercy and even do sincere good even at risk of offending his patron power source. At the end of the day, old habits die hard and it's not uncommon for him to come full circle and seemingly back to his old ways despite having temporary moments of epiphany.

Abilities

Esoteric Abilities:
The full scope of Juggernaut's powers are not known, even to himself. Juggernaut has in the past displayed some degree of telepathic abilities as well as an affinity for magic which he has never cultivated. Size alteration, the ability to impact the momentum of others, magic spell casting, and even absorbing and projecting energy have all been fluke occurrences that Cain cannot willingly call upon but represent the strange scale and scope of the power Cyttorak channels into him.

Juggernaut's powers at times seem to depend on his own personal understanding of himself and his role and his commitment to being the embodiment of physical destruction. Though his strength does not increase as The Hulk's does, the implication has been that the more inhuman his avatar is or the more he submits to the urges of destruction the more powerful he becomes.

Such circumstances have opened the door for Cyttorak to influence Juggernaut in bizarre ways such as Juggernaut using pure hate and rage to fight Oblivion itself and remain physically active when reduced to a skeletal state - or to grow to over 100 feet tall and become so strong he was literally punching holes in dimensional walls.

Other transformative or possession like abilities have occurred to Cyttorak's avatars when they succumb to pure rage or are vulnerable enough to be fully influenced by his unquenchable thirst for destruction.

Exemplar of Power:
The Juggernaut is essentially the avatar of the most destructive aspect of the magical principality known as Cyttorak. As such he bears the title of the Exemplar of Physical Power. Empowered thusly, The Juggernaut possesses what seems to be virtually limitless brute strength and durability and is considered one of the strongest and most powerful beings on Earth. Over the years the power of The Juggernaut has waxed and waned and fallen into different hands. His present and most infamous Avatar, Cain Marko, is said to presently possess more power than Cyttorak has ever granted in the past though the full meaning of this has yet to be truly expressed.

Incalculable Strength:
The Juggernaut is considered a Class 100 being. His various levels of power have exhibited truly monstrous feats of strength be they lifting and wielding buildings as weapons or engaging in physical contests producing quakes described as the greatest fury ever unleashed on Earth. Even depleted of his power, with simply a permanent residue of magic energy from his time as the Exemplar, he proved capable of challenging Colossus.

The Juggernaut has threatened, subdued and otherwise menaced individuals on the strength level of Hulk, Rhino, Hyperion and others Juggernaut's punches have been shown to rapidly escalate above magnitude eight seismic events with the force of his punches in Arizona being felt in New York, before he paused his attacks. His movements and exertions of strength have even fractured the North American tectonic plate and in recent days a single punch has broken the ribs of durability on par with Colossus and sent them flying for miles.

Juggernaut's physical strength affords him an array of 'brick tricks' made famous by The Hulk. Clapping his hands together has produced shockwaves wide enough and powerful enough to fell entire teams of opponents. A simple stomp once collapsed an entire valley onto military forces. Though he lacks the leaping capacity of a Hulk the power of The Juggernaut has demonstrated the capacity to leap high enough to fell giants the size of large buildings. It stands to reason other stunts are well within his reach.

Invulnerability:
The Juggernaut is virtually indestructible with the enchantment empowering him rendering him immune to what seems to be any form of physical harm. He has withstood the force of collapsing mountains, buildings , discharges of energy capable of cracking the armor of a Celestial and repeated blows from the strongest beings known to exist. The invulnerability offered by the power of Cyttorak has also protected him from disintegration beams and attempts to remove him from existence via reality warping or oblivion itself.

He has even exhibited being nearly immovable as physical blows, impacts and strikes from individuals on the same scale of Thing or Colossus have proven incapable of moving him from where he stands without him even exerting counter force. Sufficient force, cosmic level power, blows that catch him off guard, have been shown able to knock him around.

Sufficient force such as cosmic level power, has been shown capable of rattling and knocking him unconscious. The use of the Uni Power to shatter his helmet and then assault him as well as the cosmic level power of Onslaught which struck him hard enough to hurtle him from Canada to New Jersey were both sufficient to temporarily knock him out by combining both psychic and physical assaults.

He has also shown the capacity to be stunned and knocked off balance by powerful blows if struck by surprise such as by a combo of blows form an enraged Hulk.

Juggernaut's invulnerability is magical in nature, However this has been shown able to be negated. When it is he is still extremely durable, sustained by residue magical energies and able to withstand powerhouse blows from even the likes of Thor to the point of near subdual though his stamina prevented him from succumbing before his full power was restored.

Regeneration:
Juggernaut has exhibited regenerative power. Certain weapons, such as magical in origin, have shown themselves capable of piercing his invulnerability though rarely. He had an eye put out by Shatterstar and was shown able to seemingly focus his powers to regenerate it in a matter of seconds. unlike Hulk's or Wolverine's, this regenerative ability seems to require a certain degree of dedicated effort to trigger although it only takes a matter of seconds to complete.

Superhuman Size:
The Juggernaut seems to be perpetually getting bigger. Although he has demonstrated the ability to appear in a massive but still more human scale form, the power of The Juggernaut expresses itself outwardly resulting in a visible increase in size when he ceases restraining himself or dons his armor or otherwise yields to his destructive impulses. During his earliest outings his more traditional 'human' size of 6'10" and a massive 900 pounds was typical. In later years a Juggernaut as massive as 9'5" and close to a ton of mass was the norm and in recent years he's been spotted even larger, practically a small building with the likes of Thor barely reaching his waist.

It should be noted that such expressions of size are purely cosmetic and not a representation of him accessing his powers. He is no less Juggernaut when in civilian identity then when at his most massive and has appeared in his gigantic stature when out of armor as well. Rather it should be seen as more an outward expression of his psychological state and attachment to his role as the Avatar of Cyttorak and his yielding to his more destructive impulses.

Superhuman Speed:
Juggernaut's running speed has been observed at reaching 600 mph though it is a gradual build up over an extended distance. At such speeds he requires an immense amount of room to slow himself down to a stop essentially becoming a run away freight train.

Superhuman Stamina:
Juggernaut's stamina is such that he simply does not tire. He cannot be poisoned and does not need to breath, eat or sleep save for personal satisfaction. He can survive in virtually any hostile environment from the depths of space to the pressures of the bottom of the ocean without ill effect as well. If he eats and breathes he does so via luxury and not by necessity. Juggernaut's stamina is such that he was able to dig himself out of a mountain range and in another scenario exert his strength for over a week marching through thousands of cubic feet of aggregate and then over a month of constant exertion through miles of rock, clay and stone.

Unaging:
The Juggernaut has seemingly not aged a day since becoming empowered by Cyttorak. The cosmic effect of a power on the scale of Oblivion proved sufficient to force his aging process but the power of Cyttorak then countered in, fueled by Juggernaut's rage. Under normal circumstances he will not grow old.

Unstoppable Force:

The Juggernaut is said to be physically unstoppable and the embodiment of the irresistible force. Once he begins moving in a direction no force has proven capable of stopping him under most standard circumstances. He can be slowed, even to near imperceptible movements, but the actually stop him seems an I impossibility outside of upper tie cosmic levels of power or enhancements such as possessed by the Celestials. It should be noted that Juggernaut is unstoppable whether he is simply leaning into his attacks and slightly moving forward or running at a full clip.

Skills

Brawling:
Cain knows how to fight and fight well. He was in the armed forces and following that immediately became the Juggernaut wherein which he adapted his military training to being one of the strongest beings alive. He knows what he's doing in a fight although by appearances it can just appear as if he's using raw brute strength. However even that requires some skill applications and he is more then capable of various 'brick tricks' with his potent abilities and pairing those up with brawling style combat maneuvers.

Mercenary:
Much of Cain's resources are the result of years and years of mercenary work. He's been at this game longer then almost anyone else and is well versed and experienced in the realm of both the underworld and the muscle for hire. He knows how to hear about the latest jobs. Where to go to get new jobs. Who gives out the best jobs. Who isn't trust worthy and who is.

Streetwise:

Cain is what you would call 'street smart' and not 'book smart'. He knows how to survive. He has an ear for dealing with low lives and those who dwell on the 'wrong side of the tracks'. He can read between the lines and has no problem engaging in activity on the wrong side of town, so to speak.

Resources

Contacts:
Although he is typically a loner, Cain Marko works often with Black Tom who is arguably his best friend. Thus he can call upon him and rely on him when necessary. Being one of the more known super criminals on the planet, other criminals of lesser or equal power to him likely hold some degree of respect, either out of fear or begrudgingly, for the giant. Charles Xavier, though Cain has a huge grudge for him, is family and his dislike of him has cooled over recent years to smoldering unresolved issues. The right circumstances can lead to him lending a hand and have in the past. Additional exploits have created unusual in roads with others in the super powered community. Lastly, Cyttorak himself is a 'contact' of sorts as he has a vested interest in his avatar for obvious reasons.

Crimson Armor:
Fashioned from metal within Cyttorak own dimension is Juggernaut's armor and helm and skull cap. The armor itself renders Cain, not immune to, but /very/ difficult to effect magically. The magic resistance is innate and it causes Juggernaut to be less vulnerable to spells of certain intensity though spell casters such as Selene or Doctor Strange would be able to effect him with sufficient power put behind it. Juggernaut can summon the armor to him with but a thought and it arrives with a blast of red energy enveloping him and visibly transforming him. This is usually even accompanied by an enlarging of his physical form as well though this is largely cosmetic.

Helm and Skullcap:
Juggernaut's helmet and skull cap provide him immunity to psionic attacks which is one of his few true vulnerabilities. When donned as such he simply cannot be affected although some flukes have occurred to his surprise. Twice via Psylocke when he was able to partially feel a concentrated psi-bolt from her and another time when he, already in a weakened state, was struck by her psi-knife.

The armor is bonded to his helm by magical means and can be pulled loose however it would take at least strength on par with Colossus and even he would have to strain. Hulk has knocked it loose before by throwing him hard enough into a mountain side and has also punched it off with a single blow when enraged.

Typically beneath the helm is a skullcap, scrapped together by pieces of metal that the armor was fashioned from. The skull cap serves as a fail safe in case the helm is ever removed and has the same functionality of the helm. But is much easier removed as it is held by straps. Dazzler's laser blasts served capable of removing the cap.

Should the helm or skullcap be lost or destroyed, Juggernaut has proven capable of using his power to fashion a new one from whatever common material he has handy.

Money:

Successful missions and contracts have afforded Juggernaut resources to live as he pleases and go where he wishes. Obviously these assets are found and frozen if he's experiencing a stay in a supervillain prison or program such as the Thunderbolts but he's not without his financial security or contacts with those who have wealth and are all to willing to pamper the giant in exchange for his services or the reputation of having him around.

Weaknesses

Cyttorak:
The Juggernaut is one of the most powerful beings in the superhuman community but it is as a result of the whim and favor of the mysterious principality known as Cyttorak, and specifically his aspect of destruction which has much in common with a demon lord.

Cyttorak has expectations of his avatar as the activity of The Juggernaut is his method of exerting influence upon the world. Juggernaut is, if nothing else, pig headed, and at times has fully resisted Cyttorak's efforts at commanding and influencing him - and the two have even fought before within the mysterious dimension inside the crimson gem itself.

Cyttorak doesn't actually care if such destruction is for good or for evil. He simply wants battle, strength and conflict and to much is never enough, resulting in constant urges for Cain to yield to his more violent tendencies.

On occasion this has resulted in Cyttorak withdrawing his power in levels and sometimes completely, leaving a vastly depowered Cain Marko who still has enough superhuman strength to tussle with Colossus, but not a fraction of the power of the Juggernaut. In particular, Cyttorak can be offended if other cosmic entities interfere and Cain does not resist them. At present Cyttorak is said to have given Juggernaut more power then ever before, enough to face the destructive aspect in battle if he chooses, but he remains the final arbiter of the power of the Juggernaut.

Magic:
The Juggernaut has proven vulnerable to magic spells of sufficient strength. With his armor on the power to effect him must be on the scale of what can be summoned by Doctor Strange or manipulated by the Hammer of Thor. For example, Thor was once able to negate his invulnerability for a brief period of time and Doctor Strange has proven capable of summoning The Juggernaut from earth to another magical dimension. Without the armor on, Juggernaut still has monstrous resistance to magical energy but can be impacted by sufficient power.

Some magical weaponry has proven capable of tagging him through his invulnerability. Shatterstar was able to put an eye out and Thunderstrike, wielding Executioner's Axe, was able to remove his helmet in one swing and get Juggernaut to acknowledge the magical nature of the attack and that he'd been 'tagged'.

Similar applies to Thor's hammer and other powerful weapons which could either reduce his invulnerability or pierce it all together but still must contend against his residual durability.

Vulnerabilities:

Juggernaut is no more or less vulnerable to telepathic powers and related abilities as anyone else and for this reason he wears his helmet and skullcap. Without it he can be an open target and has even been visited in his dreams before by powerful telepaths.

His mind and nervous system have both been shown to be slightly vulnerable to certain attacks. Nimrod successfully attacked him using high tech future technology that emitted a sound wave and a synapse dislocater that jammed his neural impulses.

When captured in the past a technological advancement known as a 'stasis pod' has been capable of imprisoning him despite his vast power. Getting him into one is another issue all together but once in and activated he has been shown to have been secure and held.
