Description:

Mia is a rather slim 163cm, coming in at around 57kg, With dirty blonde hair whose ends play tag with the shoulder blades on her back. Covering her ears almost in their entirety, the tips perhaps poking out and short bangs that go across her forehead. Pale grey eyes, perhaps with the hint of blue in the right light. A small ski slope nose, with perhaps nostrils that are a bit too wide. A pursed mouth that typically hangs in a relaxed frown, though turns in to a dimpled grin when she smiles. She seems fit and rather toned, athletic, perhaps. Hands not totally smooth but also not calloused. Nails kept neat and extending just barely past her fingertips, painted in a pinkish French style. Adorning her ears are a pair of miniature pink feathers about 5cm in length. A nose stud, pink, likely a tourmaline produces just beyond being flat from her right nostril.

She's wearing a pair of faded, distressed jeans, that fit from her hips, rather than her waist. One knee cap is torn open. White shredded and frayed slashes across the other leg. Another white shredded and frayed 'artistically' placed just under her right buttock in the back. For a top, Mia is wearing a top to bottom black fade into pink t-shirt, knotted at her right side, displaying just a bit of midriff - showing off her belly piercing - glass, smaller than most, with tiger eye stones set both top and bottom. Around her waist, is a belly chain made of gold links and some kind of smooth polished black stones. For shoes, she has on a pair of well worn, taupe-colored hiking boots - ankle length. The laces are untied and flopping about, but not long enough to create a tripping hazard.

History

History:

Mia is 16 and an orphan, adopted by her Godparents. She is a creative and athletic persona, pursuing such things as dance, music, and drawing She has an avid interest in soccer and kata focussed martial arts, such as Tai Chi. Mia was born in Paris and grew up traveling the world. Living in such places as Germany, Italy, Greece, Syra, Pakistan, Kashmir, and Palestine. Both her parents were missionaries. Her father a medical doctor and her mother a medical researcher in the field of genetics. They did their best to give both of their children the chance to pursue the things that interested them, all the while also providing them with homeschooling when no practical schools were available. Mia speaks a variety of languages, though only reads and writes in French and English.

Mia's parents were not religious in and of itself. They were just inclined to help the less fortunate in the world. The ability to do this stems from family wealth. Renault. It's a big name in France, and the world over, though not very visible, except perhaps to those who know cars. This wealth, may have also played a role in that fateful day, providing the extremists with a high profile target.

It was during the last such travels with her family that Mia's mutation was triggered. While visiting Israel, the bus she, her parents, and twin brother were in, was the target of a suicide bombing. Mia was the only survivor. Investigators claimed the damage done was excessive even for an explosion of that magnitude, likely a result of the way Mia's mutation works. The terrorist organization that claimed responsibility declared the target was the Renault family and their meddling in affairs beyond their mandate. Dodging the possibility of charges, Mia's secret was kept and she was eventually remanded into the custody of her godparents. She has living relatives but all acquiesced to the will of her parents.

Which brings us to the present. Mia has been in the United States for a little over a month now, attending public school while dealing with the grief of losing her family and the secret of her mutation. Her godparents are not unknown to her, they were considered very close family friends and practically considered Aunt/Uncle already to her, and their daughter like an older sister - which is in fact, true now. During an altercation at school, Mia's mutation again reared its ugly head and another student, a boy, was flung across the parking lot into the side of a building. He is in critical but stable condition with many broken bones and bruised internal organs. Mia was charged, arraigned, made bail, and is awaiting the next court date. Witnesses are likely to exonerate Mia, but the excessive force used to defend herself is not in her favor.

Personality

Personality:

Mia tends to make a first impression that is very misleading as to her true character. She is quiet and not outspoken. Not out of any shyness, but out of a need to mull things over, a sense of thoughtfulness. Unless it's something she has already come to an opinion over, and even then she is not likely to say anything - now out of a sense that most people have already made up their own minds on a topic and she has no need to express hers. So, unless somebody puts a question directly to her, Mia is unlikely to give up her opinion. The exception was her twin but in her mind he didn't count. He was like an extension of her.

Mia tries to be polite, but tends to fail. She is very quirky, and comes across as a spoiled only child, which she is in many ways, even if she doesn't have a twin - again, he doesn't count. Mia will speak in questions either by using a query or by the tone of her voice, even when it likely should be a statement. It's an odd behavior that confuses a lot of people, understandably. It likely means Mia has not made up her mind about some aspect of whatever is being discussed.

Mia is an optimist, pacifist and strives to be tolerant. It's far easier for her than most people in the world, as she has travelled to many places and seen a lot of the hardships, suffering, history, culture and joy. She considers life to be sacred, and holy. She doesn't believe in any deity, but if she did, that's how she would describe life, especially sentient life. With that being said, Mia is also a practical soul. She accepts that there will always be differing viewpoints, ideologies and, well, anything. Most of those things are negative, or hold a side of that is. With that in mind Mia, like her parents, has decided to try and be the tiny pinpoint of light that strives to make at least something better.

Which brings us once again to the present. Mia is in turmoil. This is a major crisis in her life, from multiple angles. Sides of her she thought were already written in stone are being shattered to be thrown into the maelstrom of what it means to be Mia. She is now a mutant, a being often feared and hated the world over - worse yet the kind that has an ability that can only kill. She has lost all her immediate family - by a suicide bombing. She is in a new place with no friends. She has likely crippled and almost killed a person. She is no longer the quiet, tolerant, ray of light that glided through the world. She is a dark, brooding thundercloud as she works through what is now her life.

Abilities

Force Armor Generation:
The field surrounding Mia conforms to her body and protects her from harm by deflecting/repelling incoming physical or energy attacks. So far it has protected her from ground zero of a suicide bomber blast, though it did render her unconscious. She is not able to control the intensity of the field. It's either on or off. It does not affect attacks that are Telepathic, Magical, or Passive unless those attacks also create a physical or energy medium to do damage with. Since it reacts full force or not at all, she can likely only handle two or three attacks before exhausting herself. The field surrounding and creating her force armor does not work by absorbing the damage. It may absorb enough to power itself, but the rest is deflected or repelled. Tactile TK Field:
Mia is surrounded by a field of telekinetic energy. She is capable of turning it on/off. She is not able to control the intensity. It's either 0 or 100 percent. She is able to maintain it indefinitely, so long as it doesn't interact with anything. Since it is always either off, or at 100 percent she is only able to sustain it for two, possibly three interactions before she becomes exhausted and it will turn off to recharge.

Telekinetic Pressure:
Via the same field that surrounds and protects Mia anything Mia comes in to contact with that provides resistance is interpreted as an attack and the full force of her telekinetic power is expressed in outwards pressure and repelled at full force. She is unable to control the intensity of the field surrounding her, so this can have devastating and unwanted results. Again, since she only operates at no, or full capacity she can only do those two or three times before draining her reserves. This is essentially the same thing as her Force Armor, except it triggered by Mia coming in to contact with things that resist.

Telekinetic Sense:

The only hint that Mia's mutation may extend to things other than brute force is a new sense she has developed. When the field surrounding her is not being used to generate Force Armor, it is dispersed and acts akin to a combination of touch and sight. Physical objects don't seem to be a deterrent, though magical, psychic, things with very low mass, and hermetically sealed objects do. She can determine such things as mass, weight, speed, and basic physical composition.

Mia is an accomplished athlete. Her preferred sport is soccer, though she also enjoys competitive track, freestyle and choreographed dance, and kata focussed Tai Chi.

Mia can read and write French and English. She can speak, though not fluently: German, Italian, Arabic, Hebrew and Mandarin.

Musician:

Mia can play the piano, guitar and flute, but her favorite is the violin.

Inheritance:

Mia has a bit of an inheritance which stems from a Living Trust provided through the Renault family. The family's wealth is considerable and multi-generational.

It includes:

Her parents' flat in Paris , its contents, and the 2026 Jeep parked there.

A vacation home in Shenandoah Crossings, A wedding gift from the 'Renault' family, its contents, and the 2024 Hybrid Camry garaged there.

A portfolio worth about 1M EU in various indexes, EFTs, and other investments - none of which are easily liquidated but provide her for expenses regarding living conditions and education, unless provided for by other means. It also stipulates an allowance of $200 monthly, to be deposited in to a Bank of America account, but only if there is no other source of income.

The Living Trust is overseen by the Renault board of directors, which always include her present guardians in all matters related to their charge, till she reaches the age of 21 to oversee it herself.

Weaknesses

Allergy: Magic:
Mia's TK sense which ultimately works on a molecular level can not cope with magical constructs and reacts to it in a variety of ways to include headaches, rashes, watery eyes, sneezing, and even burns with direct contact. She can cope with this by turning off her TK sense, which actives her TK Field, but there are situations in which she may not want to do that.

Enemy:
It is likely that Mia could become a target of extremists, due to her family wealth. As either a target of violence, or ransom, or other nefarious schemes she can only imagine in her nightmares.

Intolerance:
Mia is beginning to develop a hatred for extremists of any sort, believing they do more harm than good with their intolerant views. She is irrationally prejudiced against anyone who expresses a viewpoint vehemently, perceiving them on the path to becoming an extremist.

Ptsd:

Mia suffers from PTSD stemming from the suicide bombing and the loss of all her immediate family. She isn't aware of what it even is, would consider it the normal process for grieving. It is triggered, by a multitude of various things, the closer they are to what actually happened, the worse the reaction. Her reactions vary from spacing out, to fear, to anger, to grief, to panic. Even some of the oddest things can be the strongest triggers. The sound of Arabic being spoken. Somebody wearing an overcoat. Buses. Sirens. She has been diagnosed and has yet to begin any real treatment.
