DICK
His face has the chiseled features of a clothing model, well defined cheekbones, a strong jaw that is not overly thick or broad, and a nose that is well proportioned for the rest of his features. His raven-black hair is cut short, just above his eyes on top, and cropped close on the sides. His smile has a roguish quality, a natural smirk that shows him to be both cocky and fearless.

He's clad in a pair of loose fitting jeans with a black belt, and a silver buckle. He has a white t-shirt with the quote "Livin' Life Without a Net" in black lettering across the front. He has a pair of rugged brown hiking shoes that would be useful for parkour just as much in the wilderness. He has a black sports watch with a large face, and a metal band on his left wrist.

NIGHTWING
His face is hidden behind a stylized mask with tinted lenses covering his eyes, creating a black winged shape over his features, with sharp points going down his cheekbones. His raven-black hair is cut short, just above his eyes on top, and cropped close on the sides. His smile has a roguish quality, a natural smirk that shows him to be both cocky and fearless.

He's clad in a form fitting bodysuit designed for action, layered with padding for protection that accents his broad shoulders and muscular build. The suit is largely shaded ebony in a way that blends in with the surrounding shadows, with another winged silhouette on his chest, this one in midnight blue. He has bracers on his wrists and a utility belt lining his waist, each with pouches for gadgets and tools of the trade. His hands are covered with midnight blue gloves that are fit for combat, going along with a streak of midnight blue trim that runs along the arms. His boots are heavy treaded for purchase on rooftops and slippery urban surfaces.

History

When Dick Grayson was a child, he was an acrobatic prodigy travelling with the world-famous "Haly's Circus" along with his parents John and Mary Grayson. The three performers, known as the Flying Graysons, were one of Haly's most famous acts. Haly's Circus hid a dark secret, having been training assassins for the Court of Owls for decades. Unknown to the young acrobat, Grayson had been selected to become the newest Talon for the Court; being groomed to replace Alton Carver. The real world intruded when Grayson's parents were killed by the mobster Tony Zucco on his mother's birthday, leaving the acrobat an orphan. Unable to work as an acrobat anymore, Grayson left the circus, unknowingly escaping his fate to become a Talon.

After being transferred to the Wayne Care Center, Bruce Wayne would occasionally check up on Grayson and help him out. Grayson, seeking justice, would sneak out at night in order to conduct his own investigation into the whereabouts of Tony Zucco. Grayson would encounter Batman at various times, and the Bat helped Grayson with his investigation, empathizing with his similar tragedy. Eventually, Batman brought Grayson to the Batcave and shared his identity as Bruce Wayne. Wayne then offered to help Grayson bring in Tony Zucco, and Wayne began training him. After initially having trouble accepting a name, he finally settled on Robin, a reference to an adoration his mother had for the bird. One night, Batman was tracking the Assassin Lady Shiva before the hero was ambushed and bested by her in combat. Donning his costume early, Robin arrived at Batman's position for his first mission in the field but was no match for the assassin, who spared his life and said they'd meet again...

Years passed, with Dick growing more and more into the role of Robin. He proved himself time and time again in the street, even though some villains had a habit of taking him hostage, seeing him as vulnerable. That only made him tougher, though. As he got older, though, he branched out more and more. After several years of fighting by Batman's side, Robin decides he's ready to fight with others his own age. Grayson joins forces with others forming the Teen Titans. Although Robin is one of the few members of the team without traditional superpowers, he emerges as the group's natural leader due to his experience and intelligence.

For some time Dick once again worked with Bruce, the duo together again but he would also cut out on his own proving competent in his own right. Batman, however, is less than pleased. He informs Dick that if he no longer wants to be his partner, he'll have to retire as Robin. Furious, hurt, and confused, eighteen year old Dick Grayson leaves Wayne Manor after this fallout An aimless Grayson attends Hudson University majoring in law but drops out. A schism there, far too pushed away at this point and not feeling himself Grayson decides to invent a new persona, one that fits him, he becomes; Nightwing. He chose the name to honor another hero by the same name after being told the story of the Kryptonian hero by Superman. The great rebuilder. The catalyst of change.

Dick learned after a while that Bludhaven had it horrible if not worse than Gotham, he dedicates himself to cleaning up crime and flushing the syndicates out of the decaying harbor town. Grayson commits himself fully to his role as Nightwing, and takes up a job as a Bartender in order to get the scoop on the criminal activities in the area. Eventually Bruce and Grayson begin to mend their relationship with him occasionally returning to mentor the next Robin, Red Robin and further train Batgirl.

Personality

Given everything that Dick Grayson has been through in his life it would not be a surprise if he had turned out to be a total headcase. Parents murdered before his eyes as a child? Check. Raised by a billionaire who presents one face to the world while hiding his true self? Check. Raised to be a vigilante and trained in multiple forms of combat, to observe and analyze everything he sees, taught to understand the minds of not only criminals but complete psychopaths? Check. And despite all that Dick turned out to be a relatively well adjusted man. True, one who has devoted himself to the pursuit of justice and to protecting others. One who does so by dressing up in a costume and taking to the rooftops. It might not sound very well adjusted, but somehow he makes it work.

Instead of being compelled to seek revenge against the sorts of criminals who took his family from him, Dick does so by choice, because he genuinely cares about other people and wants to insure that what happened to him does not happen to others. He has a deep-seated sense of right and wrong, a code that he chooses to live by and as such he chooses to put himself in harms way. He has come to embrace his costumed identity, but he doesn't let it consume him. There's more to him then the mask.

Where others of his peers might live the hero life 24/7, Dick has found that he needs more. Yes, the bulk of his friends and family might be part of the superhero set, but having something of a normal life is important to him. Having something to do, a job that doesn't involve him wearing a mask and punching people matters to him. Getting together his friends for something other than a team-up is important. He needs a life, not just a calling and when things start to get a little out of whack on that front, when that balance tips too far towards his costumed world, that's when things usually start to go astray for Dick.

One thing that helps him a great deal in this pursuit is that ultimately Dick is very much a people person. He is just an extremely affable young man who genuinely cares about the people around him. It is part of what makes him such a strong leader, every bit as much as the tactical acumen and long experience. He generally finds it ease to interact with others, to get to know people and never lacks for confidence in his dealings with others. The whole secret identity thing makes that a little more difficult, but it is hardly the only obstacle in his life.

While he is well adjusted and outgoing, not everything is always roses and rainbows for the former Boy Wonder. He can brood with the best of them at times and has a tendency towards blaming himself for things that are not always within his control, something he has to fight against. He is far more comfortable in his own skin, but the fact remains that his mentor is pretty much the peak of what a regular human can aspire to in the world of superhuman heroes. It's a legacy that he can never entirely live up to and while he has grown increasingly accepting of that fact, it will always be there with him, a little dark thought in the back of his head that he will always be found wanting.

ENDURANCE
Nightwing was able to withstand punishment from super powered villains, and to recover quickly from it. As an example, when he was knocked away by a Superman clone he was able to recover quickly from the attack. Furthermore he can go without sleep for 4 straight days and hold his breath for 7 minutes.

GENIUS INTELLECT
Nightwing possesses highly advanced reasoning and logic capabilities, as well as immense information retention, and uses them to great effect. His mental acuity allows him to pick up languages, subjects, perform scientific research, and present these new subjects with amazing speed. Nightwing's ability to intuitively pick up the slightest details, apply them to the situation, and make the correct decision is what makes him a strong leader as well as an amazing detective.

INDOMITABLE WILL
Scarecrow has said that Nightwing's willpower is second only to Batman. He's resisted Scarecrow's fear toxin and at times resist mind control, such as breaking free from Brother Blood's mind control, and was able to resist Groom's mind control.

SPEED AND AGILITY
Nightwing is a skilled acrobat starting from his childhood in the circus and is considered one of the best human acrobats in the World. His acrobatic skills combined with his agility makes him very hard to hit in a fight, and he combines these skills with his fighting skills to perform moves that no other human on earth could perform.

Nightwing can easily keep up with and even catch his former mentor. Furthermore Nightwing can dodge bullets, knifes, blades and is even fast enough to deflect them back. He is also fast enough to catch up with a train, a speeding getaway car and some superpowered adversaries. His agility has allowed him to hang around with super powered opponents, and even manages to create a small crater by smashing Blockbuster's head into the ground, by the use of his speed.Not only is Grayson agile, but his body is very flexible as he can perform feats such as use his flexibility and agility to maneuver around many cars after jumping from a moving train, and then get to the same place he was on the train.

STRENGTH

With his strength, Nightwing has thrown a refrigerator, broke through a bus window while underwater, and thrown people through concrete walls. His strength would put him on par with competitors in the World's Strongest Man in raw strength, and beyond even their considerable feats with the control he has over his body.

ACROBATICS
Nightwing is capable of performing extraordinary human feats of balance, agility, and motor coordination. This is reflected in his expert abilities to perform activities that make extensive use of gymnastic elements. Nightwing would easily be accomplished as an Olympic level gymnast, freestyle BMX/Motorcross/Skying, Skydiving, tightrope walking, trampoline/wall running, tumbling, and various other examples of acrobatic excellence.

Specifically, Nightwing has turned this into an advanced form of Parkour that he uses with his Grappling Gun to move through an urban environment. Nightwing travels from one point to another in a complex environment, without assistive equipment and in the fastest and most efficient way possible. This includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling, quadrupedal movement, and other movements as deemed most suitable for the situation.

COMPUTER HACKING
Nightwing is an experienced coder, and debugger when it comes to computer software. He is experienced in breaking into systems remotely, developing exploits to take advantage of vulnerabilities, and building code that allows him continued access after his initial entry. He is skilled enough to hack into the JLA system, and hacked an alien Terminal with the use of the Tameranean Language he learned from Starfire.

DETECTIVE
Nightwing has been trained by one of the greatest Detectives on the planet in Batman, and he has become well-versed in the skills as well as law and legal proceedings. He knows how to gather clues, sort through evidence, pursue leads and chase down suspects. His mind has been trained by logic puzzles, tests and, ultimately, having to think fast in life-or-death situations. Nightwing can solve mysteries at an elite level and could easily be a superstar for any law enforcement agency lucky enough to have him.

DISGUISE
Taught by Alfred Pennyworth in acting, Nightwing is proficient in the art of disguise. He is knowledgable on idiosyncrasies, voice modulation, and improvisation. He was able to pose as Joker in Arkham Asylum and occasionally poses as Batman whenever Bruce Wayne and Batman needed to be sighted at the same time.

ESCAPOLOGY
Nightwing has been trained to slip through bonds and escape imprisonment. He can slip and pick handcuffs, dislocate joints to escape ropes and knows the way out of even seemingly inescapable prison cells. He's been taken hostage and prisoner far more than he'd like to remember and, while he had to be rescued a few times, he got pretty damn good at getting out on his own.

EXPERT MARKSMAN
Nightwing is an expert marksman that has been trained on a variety of firearms. He has fired Air Rifles, Shotguns, Muzzle Loaders, Single Shot and Double Barrel Rifles, Semi-Automatic and Automatic Rifles, RPGs, Laser Guided Weapons, Crew Served Weapons, and Vehicle based Weaponry. Most often, though, this is in reference to the use of his grapple gun.

INTERROGATION
Nightwing is skilled in the ability to question suspects with various techniques in order to get reliable information out of them as quickly as possible. He is skilled enough to get Scarecrow, who only fears Batman, to talk. He can also use these same techniques in order to intimidate individuals he interacts with in order to get them to do what he wants.

LEADERSHIP
Nightwing possesses natural charm and charisma that easily attracts people to him. He is capable of interacting with people in a way that draws their belief and trust in his abilities. This translates into the ability to coordinate people in an efficient manner, and interact with individuals in a positive way. Often serving as Bruce's second-in-command among his fellows, he's also been a leader of teams of young heroes in the past. He's quick on his feet, decisive and doesn't mind telling other people what to do. He's got at organizing and has a precise, logical mind that lets him put together plans of action and use people to their best. He's also charismatic enough to inspire trust and loyalty in those who follow him.

LINGUIST
Nightwing is very good with languages, and is able to quickly learn to speak, read and write new languages eaisly. He currently can read, write, and fluently speaks French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese, to the point of being able to fake regional accents. He is also skilled in American Sign Language. He has solid knowledge in Korean, Farsi (Persian), and Arabic but he can't pass as a native speaker. Nightwing also knows the basics of the alien language of Tamaran.

MASTER MARTIAL ARTS
Nightwing has extensive training in the martial arts, both from Batman himself and from various other teachers he's met through his life. Nightwing is considered one of the best in the world as a hand-to-hand combatant, especially deft at combining his fighting skills with his acrobatic kills. He's an excellent striker, with fast hands and feet, and incredible precision without compromising power. He favors Nippon Kenpo and Escrima as the styles he defaults to during most fights. He has been trained in styles such as Aikido, Boxing, Capoeira, Hapkido, Judo, Brazilian Jujitsu, Ninjitsu, Savate, and Kung Fu.

PILOT
Batman has trained Nightwing various ways in order for him to get from one place to another. He's a highly skilled stunt driver, a capable jet and helicopter pilot and can put into operation even complex boats and watercraft. Personally, he likes the motorcycle the best, but he's damn good behind any wheel or stick.

POLYMATH
Escapology, breath control, sleight of hand, first aid, simple surgery, stunt driving, basic to some advanced mechanics, electronic and computer systems competence, tinkering, mastery of disguise and camouflage, observation, meditation, mental resilience, psychic and hypnotic defense techniques, a limited understanding of business, social etiquette and a working knowledge of physics, chemistry, advanced math and psychology. He also keeps up to date in modern scientific theories and technologies which has included introduction to some alien technologies.

SECURITY
Nightwing has extensive training in all manner of security systems, alien, electronic, and old-fashioned. He's a master lock pick and can easily break into most any safe or through any door. He knows how to disable even the most advanced of security systems, how to configure them, and plug their holes from a defensive standpoint. He knows patrolling methods, physical security techniques, the best way to get by guards, and how to analyze to take advantage of weaknesses in any security set.

STEALTH
Nightwing has extensive stealth training from cat burglary to ninja skills. He is well versed in using shadows and lighting to keep himself hidden, moving silently, and trailing others without being detected. He can stay motionless for hours at a time, as well as extremely perceptive which makes him an expert observer and invaluable on surveillance. He's even capable of pulling that classic Bat-trick of disappearing at a moment's notice using distraction, and the limitations of line of sight.

TACTICAL ANALYSIS
Nightwing was taught in various fields by Batman, as well as multiple near death battles, and as a result is an accomplished tactician. In addition to that, he is skilled in reading the physical queues of others, and studying his opponents tendencies. Nightwing uses these skills to aid in defeating multiple armed opponents and anticipate an opponent's next move.

WEAPON SPECIALIST

Nightwing has been trained in the uses of a variety of melee weapons, and throwing weapons. He's moved from the classic Batarang to his own stylized variations part boomerang and part shuriken. He's a master of throwing and melee weapons of a wide-ranging variety. He's even a masterfully skilled swordsman, capable of using a variety of styles, and just as comfortable whether it is lethal or non-lethal strikes.

ALLIES
Nightwing's the oldest "son" and a vital member of what's sometimes called the Batman Family, a strong organization of vigilantes and crime fighters centered in Gotham and led by Batman. In addition, he has a variety of heroes and friends he's made over his years in costume around the world. These people can be called on in times of trouble and can provide skills and powers far beyond Nightwing's own capabilities. Of course, by the same token, they can call on him in return.

NIGHTCAR
Nightwing has a transformable car with a convertible chassis that enables it to be disguised it as any similarly sized vehicle such as a taxi cab, a police car or a sports car. It houses a 3.7 McLaren racing engine, paddle shifters, all wheel drive, dual batteries and puncture resistant tires. The car is not only bulletproof, but also bullet absorbent in order to prevent stray ricochets from hitting innocent bystanders.

NIGHTCYCLE
Nightwing has a motorcycle he calls his own, a custom vehicle with quite a few tricks up its sleeve. Capable of going at speeds of nearly 300 kph, the Nightcycle has a fully electric backup engine, capable of going without gas for hundreds of miles. The cycle has weapons, including low-calibre machine guns, oil slicks, and razor dart launchers. The cycle is armored against conventional bullets not only bulletproof, but also bullet absorbent in order to prevent stray ricochets from hitting innocent bystanders. It can withstand impacts of incredible speed and come out unscathed. The bike is keyed to Nightwing's optic signature and requires his retina-scan to start, unless he uses a specific vocal override code (with voice recognition).

NIGHTWING BOOTS
Nightwing's boot compartments carry equipment such as flares, a rebreather, a mini-computer equipped with fax, wireless access, GPS and a mini-disk rewritable drive. Also items like lock picks, a first-aid kit, a mini-cellphone, flexi-cuffs, antitoxins, a pair of small knives, brass knuckles, signal flares, wireless listening devices and a small halogen flashlight.

NIGHTWING GAUNTLETS
Hidden within secret compartments lies Nightwing's gadgetry, in which a great majority seems to be hidden. He has various gadgetry in his gauntlets such as binoculars and it is occasionally used to store his Escrima Sticks. His gauntlets can also shoot remote bombs, a sonic device with his ear dampeners, and a grapple line. Each gauntlet's sections contains sonic or smoke pellets, modified batarangs (Wing-Dings), knockout gas capsules, and throwable tracers. The right gauntlet also contains a 100,000-volt stun gun, and a air driven launcher that shoots darts.

NIGHTWING MASK
As Nightwing, the domino mask is shaped just like his wing-dings. It has various capabilities such as being able to track the GPS coordinates of a cellphone, a built-in radio transmitter/receiver and Starlite night-vision lenses. The lens can zoom and magnify his vision. It also has electromagnetic vision, which includes thermal, sonar, and x-ray vision. It has a computer link and analysis. Heads Up Display that can track enemies being capable of giving detailed analysis of scenes and fights.

NIGHTWING SUIT
As Nightwing, his costume is made up of sturdy but flexible material that not only suited his strength in speed and acrobatics, but also was durable enough to take bullets from machine guns. Nightwing's current costume is made of a version of the Nomex fire-resistant, triple-weave Kevlar-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and it's also electrically insulated. His suit houses various hidden compartments for his gadgetry such as smoke pellets, fire extinguishing pellets, wing-dings, and small bombs. The fingertips of the suit also enable him to use a needle in which can give chemical analysis, and even sport lockpicks from his fingertips.

WAYNE WEALTH

Nightwing has a trust fund set up from the Wayne Foundation. While he still likes to make his own living when he can, the fact that he has access to funds from the likes of Bruce Wayne certainly doesn't hurt. In addition, he is, as Bruce Wayne's oldest ward considered a partial heir to the Wayne Estate. He can also simply ask Bruce for his financial leverage and assistance in matters that reach beyond his own resources. Of course, he hates asking Bruce for that type of assistance, odds are he'll only use such resources as a last resort.

Weaknesses

GRUDGES
Nightwing's busted a lot of bad guy chops over the years. Many of those chops belonged to completely violent lunatics who spend most of their vacation days in Arkham Asylum. There's always someone wanting him dead and he often has a price on his carcass. Looking over his shoulder is just part and parcel of what he does.

(IN)FAMOUS
Nightwing is extremely well known Nationally and Internationally as either a Vigilante or Hero depending on what makes news in your area. Nightwing has provided key information and evidence, that was usable in court, to help put away some of the most dangerous and violent criminals World Wide. However, there are those who feel that individuals that work outside of the agreed upon legal system should not be tolerated in any way. Nightwing has built a polar following just as much as Batman, Spider-Man, and other non-sanctioned heroes. His time leading the Titans has helped soften that perception, but it is still lingering stain on his reputation.

NEED FOR JUSTICE
Although outwardly Nightwing is far more easygoing, friendly and merciful than Batman, deep down his compromise with justice is just as insanely strong. He can't stand a crime to go unpunished, or keep quiet when an injustice is going on. In the name of justice he will go confront impossible odds and sacrifice his personal life and relationships.

NO KILLING
Nightwing has a strict policy on not killing any of his opponents. His need for Justice demands that he not be an executioner, and his own ethics has him believe it is not his sole decision to determine who lives or dies. He has no problem doing what it takes to bring in a criminal that he has evidence of their crimes. He will also come just short of killing someone in order to protect innocents, such as a lifetime disabling action to protect someone that is threatened, but even in that instance he always has found a way to save the person without killing the opponent. If he is ever truly forced to choose a life the impact would be long reaching on him, and depending on the circumstances could push Nightwing to giving up his crusading ways.

OVERCONFIDENT
Nightwing is not shy about his own capabilities. He knows he's damn good and he isn't afraid to take risks and trust that his abilities will see him through. That can lead him to take unnecessary risks and put himself in situations where he's in over his head. It sometimes means he acts too hastily and emotionally, underestimating his enemies, which can lead to his defeat against weaker opponents.

SECRET IDENTITY
Protecting his secret identity is important to Nightwing, both for himself and for those he cares about. His identity leads inevitably to Bruce's identity and to the identities of the careful web of friends and family built around them. Very, very few are those trusted with Nightwing's dual life and he will go to extraordinary measures to keep that secret from coming out.

SURVIVOR GUILT
Nightwing has lived through too many other peoples demise or serious injury. A lot of deaths have been witnessed in front of him and some of them, the drowned D.A. and his parents for instance have really burned in to his mind and heart, this at times can wear him down and make him feel raw or open. Often this can make him feel as though he's wrong for not having been the one to be hurt or killed instead of them. It can lead to small bouts of depression or a fault in his usually impressive confidence.

TEMPER

Nightwing has something of an issue with his temper. He's willful, pushy, demanding of himself much more than he is of others. When others push back against him, against his decisions, his leadership or just if they hurt someone he cares about, he can go off the handle, in part due to the feelings of not being able to protect his family. This can result in him making rash decisions and alienating others when he needs to be calm. He's always working on this, but has more success on some days than others.
