Jubilation Lee was a smart mouthed, street savvy mall-rat who, by a stroke of luck, found herself within the halls of the X-Men, first as a student, now as a full fledged X-Man and part-time faculty member. She is an upbeat personality who is on top of social media trends, memes and music, who still has a bit of a steetwise attitude.

Jubilee is an average height young Chinese-American woman of about five foot three. She has the toned body of an athlete who has spent years in a gymnasium or outside with sports such as soccer or track. Jubilee has dark black hair that hits about the shoulder and is always styled in a current, trendy fashion. Upon her head is a pair of bright pink shades that looks stylish enough to go along with her knee length signature yellow trench coat. She tends to wear fashionable t-shirts for underground pop-rock bands and skinny jeans of the flexible type, with and without some destroy along the thighs and knees.

History

Jubilation Lee was born in Beverly Hills, California, the only child of wealthy Chinese immigrants. She was, in a word, spirited. For years, she worked tirelessly to perfect her exquisite skills in gymnastics, and was thought by many to be destined for the Olympic Games before she was even a teenager. Her slight but muscular form was highly-disciplined, and there was little else on her mind until the day two hitmen took the lives of her mother and father.

That was the day that everything changed.

Jubilation was sent to an orphanage, but her spirit was undaunted, and would not be restrained. She escaped shortly thereafter, and stowed away within a mall in the heart of Beverly Hills. She stole food to survive, and concealed her presence from all but the most quick-witted of security guards. But even those could not corner the girl, if she did not want to be discovered.

Then, unbidden, everything changed again. One night, as she fled through the mall with two security guards in pursuit, the heat of the moment overcame the girl when she was nearly apprehended. As she put up her hands in defense, a cascading shower of pyrotechnic light appeared between her and the two guards, who became blinded and bewildered by the display. Likely as stunned as they, Jubilation had just enough presence of mind to flee.

In the coming days and weeks, Jubilation hid herself away and tested her newfound skills, watching with wonder each flash of colourful light as it exploded with a sound that she called "paf." Gradually, the homeless orphan found acceptance and even admiration in the throngs who frequent the mall by exhibiting her talents in small, staged spectacles of light and colour. Acceptance, admiration, and occasionally, a handful of coins.

But the girl's displays of "jubilation" would not be the height of her achievements. In the coming years, Jubilation was subject to a great deal of scrutiny, in brushes with law enforcement who wanted to see her tested and identified, and if applicable, registered as a mutant. She narrowly managed to avoid capture at every turn, but found herself living on the street, and having to be far more careful about her only means of making money. It was at this time that a man saw a street performance held by the girl, and he snagged her the moment one of her fireworks took the form of a Chinese dragon and took flight. With a no-nonsense attitude, and the reflexes to catch her by the arm before she could flee, he identified himself as "like her," and pulled her off the street and onto the road with him. It was some years later that he brought her to a group of like-minded people he counted as friends, and fellow mutants. She became a member of the X-Men, and a teacher of gymnastics and English as a Second Language at Xavier's.

Jubilee is a streetsavy and energetic individual who for the most part radiates positivity. She has an easy laugh which can be infectious, or annoying, depending on how loud she can get and how much sugar she has downed. Jubilee is a team team-player type of girl when it comes to the X-Men and the student body. She may give off a slacker attitude when it comes to life, but if Jean or Scott says jump, she will jump because she wishes to prove that she can handle her own. She is also known to be emotionally anchored to a few individuals such as Logan for example and would jump through fire to aid them, which can also lead to some interesting situations that most likely will require her to be rescued as well.

FIREWORKS
Jubilee can create bursts of glowing, multicolored globules of energy in an impressive spectrum of colors, which she refers to as 'fireworks'. The plasmoids zip around under her control, and she can absorb them back into her body harmlessly. She can also use them to attack by detonating them against a target, delivering explosive and energy damage capable of burning holes in sheet steel. If she wishes, she can make the plasmoids explode in stroboscopic flashes of light, blinding enemies. She can spray fireworks from each hand, which means she can blast two enemies at once if she doesn't mind doing a bit less damage. All that, and a better show than a Chinese New Year, too! Still, they have a short range. The longest shot Jubilee's ever attempted was about 30 meters. Her fireworks are also controlled to her emotions, so if she was in distress or angered, she may lose control and create a brighter, more hotter explosion.

PSYCHIC SHIELDS

Whether it's another aspect of her mutant powers, the chaotic nature of her mind, or just a plain, old-fashioned sneaky mindset, Jubilee is incredibly hard for even powerful telepaths to detect. Using powers requiring mind-to-mind contact is just as hard. Try as she may, even a short distance causes interference, and broadcast thoughts from telepaths come through to her like a staticky CB Radio.

GYMNAST
Due to natural talent and the best training money could buy, Jubilee had been an Olympic hopeful since before she was a teenager. With plenty of time in the gym and the Danger Room, she's only gotten better since then.

HAND TO HAND COMBAT
Between martial arts lessons, some time in juvenile hall, and training from the more combat-capable members of the X-Men, Jubilee can hold her own in a fight. While she'll probably never win any martial arts tournaments, she can stand against many supervillains both offensively and defensively, usually long enough to bring her powers into play or, if things are desperate, get some help.

STREET-WISE
Jubilee isn't fond of civil authorities, but she's learned through very hard-earned experience on the streets that there are ways to avoid them. The sneaky girl is well acquainted with the five-finger discount, including getting past electronic security systems, how to spot security cameras, and just avoiding being noticed in general. She also knows how to find things that can't be bought the normal way, who to talk to, how to avoid gang trouble, and where NOT to go after dark. Food and a place to sleep are never a problem if she's even halfway trying.

TECHIE

While she's no computer whiz, Jubilee's interest in the newest and coolest toys and gadgets ensures that she knows quite a bit about the practical details of maintaining and using most consumer electronics, and even some military technology (which forms the basis of a lot of consumer electronics).

DYSCALCULIA
Jubilee has a mild learning disability when it comes to mathematics. While she can do simple math for the most part, it's a slow process, and advanced math is simply beyond her. This might explain why she rarely has any pocket money.

ENEMIES
As a member of the X-Men, Jubilee has inherited their enemies. Even when she was out on her own, she managed to annoy and anger rather a lot of people. Sooner or later they're going to want to settle the score.

SOFT HEARTED

Jubilee is quite a prankster, but anyone who's been her victim more than once will notice that she never aims to cause any harm. Unfortunately for her, this extends into combat as well. Jubilee often uses less than the full strength of her mutant power, and tends to try and blind her opponents rather than blast them when she has a choice. Only when it's apparent that her target is taking what she's throwing and still coming will she resort to full power - and reluctantly at that. Her fear of hurting others often puts her, and sometimes her teammates, at risk.
